I went to my first losers bench at Ft Hood. I feel blessed for my progress after hearing what some of the people are suffering through. I'm now in stage 3. Have a ninja so chop my food. Munchie food doesn't mean no taste. Common sense and good support. Also reading here find quite a few not handing post surgery well. Hopefully it will get better. And yes my ring want to fall off my hand. LOL Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Good attitude. Makes everything seem better as you continue on your journey. May 2 for nutrition pre-op I was 252. Now at stage 4 and finding some foods I could eat before don't go good on the stomach now.. Just learning what I can eat. Still lots of choices. Still doing small portions 4-6 meals a day.. Last weigh in with nutritionist was 211. My goal has changed to 175. I have no doubt I can reach it.. Just want to let you know it will all be good with the with your attitude. Anyone in Killeen/Fort Hood area? Who did you use?
grandpalolo replied to yvonne74's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Who did you see. I have friend who works for Tricare. She called Dr Young about somebody and Dr Young called him and saw him the same day. He's here before 5 and stays late taking care of his patients. Your choose but I recommend asking for him. Everyone seem to like him. You won't get better care. I had Dr Young at General surgery. Great Dr. Easy to talk to and answered all my questions. Does robot surgery with DaVinci. Went home next day. Only thing and not his problem was bladder issue. Resolved. He made appointment with urology. Also attends loser bench meeting and visit with patients. Don't know who you had but don't think you had Dr Young. My pre-op was 30 carbs and 70-90 Protein. Amazed when I had to really pay attention to the label. Most juices have way to much. Lost 8 before surgery and now 5 weeks out down about 33. Like they say. We need new mind set and you can beat this and get to where you plan. Good luck. ???????? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hope all goes well. I got sleeve 10 May and have done ok so far. Been traveling so hard to find foods but all considered I'm glad I got it done. One thing we have found that's good is smoothie King which we get angel food 20 oz which I sip as we drive. Lasts 1 1/2 hour that was. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Does anyone's goal weight still leave them "overweight" or "obese"?
grandpalolo replied to provenzee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The scales they use at the support group gives a lot of info, current weight BMI, age, height, ideal weight and more. I have always been 5'9" but since becoming a senior it appears I am not 2" closer to the ground. The scales say my ideal weight would be 140lbs. Like most people I don't think that would work for me. I was going to try for 195-200 but have adjusted it to 175. It may change but got to get there first to see how I'll feel. Thankfully there are support groups like this and they provide great information, advise and encouragement. -
I was going to VA diet program. Was losing but not fast. Started at 305. In October I got referral for CRDAMC. Did requirement and met goals for surgery. Was going on 2 month trip to the Philippines. Asked to wait until I got back. Left at 262 and while losing a lot came home 260. 2 May was 252 for pre-op nutrition. 10 May for surgery 243. 31 May support group 227.6. Last night weighed at 223. Used to thin of my goal as 195-200. Now have changed it to 175-180. Maybe it will change again but just working on it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I met a lady who said she got down to 165 but is now back to 229. She said sugar and candy cravings were what caused her downfall. I really had surgery in the hope of controlling my weight. I have done the yoyo diets. Used HCG 500 cal for 30-45 days. 312 down to 195 and then back to 305. Going to VA MOVE! program. Was down to 270 and someone told the group about gastric sleeve. VA sends you to Dallas so I checked for Tricare. Done at Ft Hood CRDAMC. Dr Young did a great job. Asked to wait because we were going to the Philippines from Jan to March. Had surgery 10 May. 1 day and home next day. No real pain. Bladder problem passed and now at stage 3. At support groups I'm really surprised to hear the problems some of the people are having. Not sure if this means anything but most seem to be woman. One thing we say in group is you have to get your mind right (like cool hand luke movie) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Checklist for AFTER surgery...
grandpalolo replied to reachbree's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use bean n bacon, cream of chicken and potato soups. Use a ninja chopper and mince you food. 1/4 cup of potatoes with water. Stir and then mix with chopped foods. Last week I made ribs for company. Took 2 small rib and 1 egg-roll, ninja'ed it, mixed with mash potatoes. Nothing said you can have flavor with you food. Just have to be smart and not go for big portions. Tonight I told my wife we getting Bush'S tender. Going to use ninja and mix with potatoes. Got can of Tyson chicken. Going to boil 4 eggs and make devil chicken. I crush cracker (4) and mix then have dinner. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
It has been suggested that should I eat out that before I start eating to get a togo box and put all but what really plan to eat away. Take the rest for small meal at home. Could do the same at a buffet. Take it togo and then eat it over 2-3 days. Just have to think smarter now but there's loads of good recipes out there. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
