    Lettuce, raw veggies

I'm cleared for it. Had it a couple times but it didn't agree with me. GB on 10/26 Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. In preop the nurses couldn't believe I was so completely calm. I sent my husband out so he could ride my son to work and my surgery was late. I was alone, no phone...no tv on. Just relaxing knowing that my new life was starting. I had been under for my gall bladder but I wasn't nervous then either. My surgeon came in to talk to me. Wondered if I wanted a rundown on the procedure. I told him to do his job well....and I would do my part after. He laughed. I told him yesterday at my 6 week checkup that he did a great job except he took my patience when he operated. I swear I can't make that scale budge! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Yes I did 6 weeks ago. It's been pretty smooth all in all. If you're going through hope bariatrics I can vouch for their professionalism and expertise Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Highmark BCBS approval timeline?

I have highmark PPO and they submitted one day and called me with approval the next. ( in PA as well. Are you in Pittsburgh area? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. Thanks for this article! I was very fortunate. My primary care dr suggested it....I thought about it, mentioned it to my endocrinologist, who was against it in principal...I let him win, temporarily. Then he left the area and I brought it up to my primary again...he's been nothing but supportive.... 6 weeks postop tomorrow! 32 pounds down since surgery Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. I got my approval in the mail for the surgery three days AFTER the surgery. But the surgeon knew. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    December 5th Surgery Date

  8. I waited 4 weeks and intended for it to be relaxed. But it was up to par with preop. I did nap after though!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. On thanksgiving...Went into my sisters house with her split entry. Her dog was on the steps I thought she'd escape. So I tried to turn quickly and felt the "slow motion" fall begin. I ended up on my left side. Banged my knee shoulder and ribs on the top of the step. Last night sleeping was awful. Very sensitive to the touch. Today I'm sore all over! After that fall...choosing food wisely was the least of my problems!!! Grace and elegance...not my strong suits! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. I think my whole family was so concerned about how to deal with me and the whole food thing...so it was a real ice breaker for the day. when I got upstairs (finally) they joked about how they'd already finished dinner. For about 5 seconds I considered telling them to just bring me a small piece of turkey to the landing. Maybe I can take dance lessons and get some grace after a few more pounds are gone!!!! So tired...

I'm at 4 weeks and feel the tiredness as well. I've been giving in to it about half the time and napping. But I honestly do feel better today than 3 or 4 days ago. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  12. The center I went through has two surgeons, and I was able to choose the one I wanted. I had met them both years before at a seminar I attended with a friend, and knew which I preferred. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. We go nearly every year to my sisters and this year is no different. Except I'm only on soft foods and probably will have to explain to a couple family members what that means. (Yes pumpkin pie is a soft food...no I'm not allowed to eat it!) My sister has not been supportive but she's not been critical either so I have to say I shouldn't have much flak. I wish I was further out and had more weight loss....there's always Christmas. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    I'm too Fat

Sent from my iPhone using the [url=https://siteowners.tapatalk.com/byo/displayAndDownloadByoApp?rid=87332]BariatricPal App[/ur I had an OB tell me after the table tipped that I was "too fat to get pregnant". I was there for an exam and he refused to do it. I did get pregnant and weighed 270 when my first was born and 299 when the second was born. Both relatively uneventful births (there were complications, but all were managed.). I was terrified thru the first pregnancy that he would be the on call OB. Never so humiliated in my life. But I've matured (that was over 20 years ago) and I don't give a rats ass what people think.

    Do's and Don'ts for RNY

Moving around was uncomfortable for about a week but I was able to sleep in a recliner so that helped. My upper abdomen still feels like I have a binder around me but it isn't painful. I drive after a week but I could have if I needed to before. My energy level hasn't really gone up but honestly it wasn't exactly high just prior to surgery either. I'm a little more than 3 weeks out and my advice is to just follow the plan. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  16. Genn, I was in for 2 nights but that was their protocol. I'm glad I had that extra night. I don't know about others, but the exhaustion from surgery, anesthesia, etc., I'm not sure I could've handled at home. insurance

I gained almost 20 pounds and was approved....mostly because of my comorbidities. Didn't even have to appeal it, and no one at the surgeons even blinked an eye. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Swelling of feet 1 week postop

Thanks everyone...I spoke with the nurse and she thinks it's a combination of two things. Yesterday I was up on my feet a lot more than other days (walking and doing some things in prep for a fundraiser) and my blood pressure med. I'm going fine - clear and I think plenty. I'll talk to the pcp about this in the morning as well. She did say if it gets worse or I start to have trouble breathing to go to the ER Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. Worrying if it's normal? It was fine until today, no swelling... I've emailed the surgeons office, and I do have a primary care appointment Friday morning, but thought I could gather some info here. I'm not having any trouble breathing. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  23. My surgery was the 26th but bypass not sleeve. Hope you all are managing well as possible. I am having pain issues which still could be postop gas pain but it hurts to drink anything. 24. I felt like I was very prepared for everything that occurred when I went for my surgery Wednesday. The nurses and doctors seemed to respond well when I knew the answer to some of their questions. I'm home now and I'm only tolerating Jello in micro amounts and Water. Not supposed to add a Protein shake ( 1 through the whole day) until tomorrow. Also the endocrinologist in the hospital reduced my insulin already by a lot!!!! I'm finding the hardest thing is getting up and down....and finding a comfy way to rest. My abdominal muscles really ache. Overall....I'd say I'm still thrilled with my decision to have the surgery. Bypass 2 days ago....home now

I'm so sorry you're having pain DelRay. I feel clumsy and it does hurt so to get up but I know I have to. I had little separate 2 oz Jello mixed up and can't finish even one of them yet. Hoping a good night sleep tonight will turn the pain around a bit. I've gone to half doses of the pain meds. It seems to cover it. My biggest hope is that I'm able to get my fluids in.
