Panic Attacks?
TheGirlInThePinkScarf replied to TheGirlInThePinkScarf's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm just so scared that I’m beyond help. That I'll be so depressed about this decision I made. That I'll be idealizing reversal forever. -
Panic Attacks?

I shouldn't have made that post because I didn't mean it to appear that way! I'm going to delete it. I'm meeting with a therapist next week. -

I really hope that it gets better because I'm hating this right now. -
Panic Attacks?
TheGirlInThePinkScarf replied to TheGirlInThePinkScarf's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks! I think another problem is that so far this surgery hasn't quite helped me in the ways that I thought it would yet. Weight loss has been ok (I had bad nausea and wasn't eating like anything so I lost a lot my first month. That accounts for most of my weight loss so I don't really take a lot of pride in that) and honestly the weight part has never been my #1 focus. My diabetes medication has been upped and in general, I'm on more medication now than I was before the surgery. I'm dealing with minor things like being cold all the time, the insomnia, etc. so I just don't feel the positive "change" yet. I'm getting a list of therapists that they use at my surgeon's office. -

I haven't started exercising yet, but I’m getting a treadmill hopefully next month as a belated birthday present. Maybe that will be a nice positive change for me! -

Panic Attacks?
TheGirlInThePinkScarf replied to TheGirlInThePinkScarf's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The main problem I have when I'm alone and bored are during hours when most people are sleeping! There are unfortunately only so many things that I can do at like 3 AM, especially because of the thin walls in my house. And I stay awake for SO many hours now that I'm finding it hard to get sleep. It's hard to keep myself entertained and my brain occupied for like 18+ hours a day sometimes. I do want to find some kind of activity to do though like crafting. I'm looking into some counseling because my anxiety is really starting to get uncomfortable. I was so exhausted all day and I couldn't go to sleep until I took some pain meds. I know that's not a healthy habit to get into! -
Panic Attacks?
TheGirlInThePinkScarf replied to TheGirlInThePinkScarf's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm honestly not worrying as much about the protein because I know that while it's not ideal, I can use protein Water to help me out. But getting in 64 oz. of water when I don't have to worry about distractions like work is what's worrying me. If I'm struggling this much with it now, it only seems like it will get worse when I'm not 100% focusing all my time on it. Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App -
I've kind of been skirting around this question with my nutritionists, but I do plan on asking one of them this when I see them in the upcoming weeks. In the meantime, I wanted to hear some opinions from other people on this topic. I'm 2 months post RNY but due to nausea and other problems, I'm just now really trying to get in 3 meals a day plus Snacks for my Protein. I can usually only eat about an ounce of food before I start feeling too full. My question is when I'm eating things like string cheese or a slice of cheese, should it take me 30 minutes to eat those as well? I only wonder because it seems like a long time for me. It's like I'll get busy or I'll put the string cheese down, etc. and then I don't all the time end up finishing it. I don't want to scarf it down and finish it in 2 minutes, but I don't want to lose interest in what I'm eating either. I'm just not sure what to do. Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App

30 Minutes Eating?
TheGirlInThePinkScarf replied to TheGirlInThePinkScarf's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I noticed that for dinner last night, I unintentionally finished eating before 30 minutes was up. And I didn't even eat the entire 1.2 (or whatever) oz. of fish. This has unfortunately happened to me a few times. I also think the stress of trying to get all my Fluid in probably hinders me as well. Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App -
30 Minutes Eating?
TheGirlInThePinkScarf replied to TheGirlInThePinkScarf's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks, I fear that I am not chewing thoroughly enough sometimes. It's just mind boggling to me that eating a smaller piece of cheese should take me the same amount of time as eating 1 oz. of fish. I'm just still getting so used to the new lifestyle! Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App -
Warning eat your protein/vitamins!!!!! 8mths post op Gastric bypass
TheGirlInThePinkScarf replied to curlysue86's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I found my reading this and nodding the entire time. I'm only two months post op, but I was experiencing the same symptoms and I ended up in the hospital for a few days. Getting off track seems like it only takes a day or two and it is awful. I hope you start to feel better, soon! Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App -
I've been having this same issue and other people haven't been noticing either. My clothes don't really fit that differently and I've been asked, "Have you gotten your surgery yet?" too many times. ???? Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App

Do You Use Alcohol after Weight Loss Surgery?
TheGirlInThePinkScarf replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Food and Nutrition
My nutritionists wanted me to stop drinking pre-op so I haven't had a drink since August. I'm one month post-op and I don't plan on drinking anymore period. I don't like the taste of wine, liquor, etc. and I can no longer have the things I used to mix my drinks with anyway so I don't see the point in drinking any more. Gastroparesis

No, my GI doctor didn't feel comfortable putting me on it. Once I changed my diet, I was fine and didn't need the medication anyway. Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App -

What do you tell them?
TheGirlInThePinkScarf replied to kittykat84's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm the same way. There’s nothing shameful about improving our health in a way that we and our doctors deem healthy. I also don't want to mislead people about my weight loss methods. If it wasn't for someone opening up to me about their surgery, I may have never decided to get it myself. Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App -

Gastroparesis Symptoms
TheGirlInThePinkScarf posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So my doctor warned me that in the beginning of my recovery that I would probably experience more nausea than usual. I've pretty much been experiencing nausea since I woke up from surgery (I'm 3 weeks post-op now) and I'm vomiting now as well. I wasn’t able to keep any food or even my Protein shake down today and my food was definitely not digested at all when it came back up hours later. I'm just wondering what other people's experiences are with this. Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App -
When Does Hunger Kick In?
TheGirlInThePinkScarf posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm almost 4 weeks post-op from my RNY and I never feel hunger. I didn't think this would become a legitimate problem, but it is! I feel like I can go about 2-3 days without eating and I know that's not healthy for me. I don't know how to force myself to eat. Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App -
When Does Hunger Kick In?
TheGirlInThePinkScarf replied to TheGirlInThePinkScarf's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon doesn’t handle my diet and he never has, my nutritionists do. And their plan for me is that after week 2, no more protein shakes for me period. They emphasize getting my protein from whole food sources from now on. So, I'm trying to follow their plan. Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App
