  1. Why are you being so defensive? Its an open forum people are just giving their opion.
  2. Hey I have a weird question I'm just really trying to gauge how this is going to feel after surgery. does it feel like your stomach is smaller? or can you not really tell until you try to eat something?? Like you just can't hold as much food. but does your stomach stomach feel any different? This is actually a two-part question also I'm wondering what should I be buying pre op. Im about 30 days out.

How long does the process take?

It's been about 90 days I had my weight loss seminar May 26 I'm scheduled for surgery August 24th it totally depends on your insurance requirements my nutritionist told me some insurance companies require 6 months or more of nutritional visits that seems to take the longest from what I've heard Also I was super in a hurry at first but I'm kind of glad it's taking this long it's giving me time to really research think things through make sure this was the best option I'm really glad and feel like it's a blessing that the process wasn't as rushed as I had first wanted it to be

    Sleeve or bypass

I agree it seemed less invasive and more straightforward my doctor also said the risk for complications is higher in bypass then with sleeve also my aunt had gastric bypass about 10 years ago and has been really sick also I didn't like the malabsorption Factor the dumping syndrome and the fact that it seemed like I would have to watch what I ate even more closely with gastric bypass like what if I'm at a new restaurant and it has something my new couch wouldn't agree with dumping syndrome byterrified me and the thought of my intestines being rearranged I didn't like that I am higher BMI patient BMI 52 but I love to workout so I don't see this being an issue but that is what led me to my decision.

    Anyone with a high BMI?

How do i post a photo? Little tia
  11. I think you've made a very, very wise choice. Now I encourage you to start or continue with therapy to work though the emotions that drive you to overeat/make poor choices. You know the funny part about that i dont think its emotional at all. There is a book ive been reading called "brain over binge" that talks about how binge eating is a result of years of strict calorie restrictions and dieting. Im not an emotional eater. This book has been really helpful. Little tia
  12. Thank you so much for you kind words God bless you:-) . i dont really have alot of support with this from my family. They have seen me lose before so they dont get it. Im so blessed for the support im getting here thank you. Little tia My family has watched me lose weight on WW several times before, so I got a lot of 'why don't you just do that again?'. For me, I had to quit yo-yoing up and down...yes, I can lose weight on my own but I haven't been great at keeping it off long-term, and I could never get to my goal with Weight Watchers. I started searching for a tool that would let me achieve those long-term goals and that's what led me to WLS. You sound determined and motivated, I think those are qualities that will make you successful, especially with the extra help you'll get from having a sleeve or bypass. Best of luck to you, I hope you stick around and join in with all of us here...I'd love to hear about your experiences as you go through this all! Exactly! My family is the same way. I want longevity. I will definatly be sticking around you guys are amazing Little tia

  14. You look GREAT! Not too skinny at all Little tia
  15. Update...I decided im actually going to go thru with it. I prayed about it and asked God for an answer, all the verses i came across talked about help, and answering of prayer. I know i have fought long and hard i now believe this is a blessing. Im terrified to put in all the work AGAIN just to gain it all back AGAIN i cant take another cycle of that. The definition of insanity is to do the same thing repeatedly and expect a different result. I went threw alot of old photos and FB post and seen a weight loss journey i went on back in 2007 2009 2010 and so on! That was almost 10 years ago! And im actually about 70+lbs heavier then i was then. So F it i have to try something new. I had to tell myself this does not mean im a failure or a quitter im a WINNER for taking control of my life! I know now this is not the easy way out. And im ready already down 20lbs since i started this thread! Lets do it :-) Little tia

I hate it when people say...

My bestfriend and i just had this conversation. I think its case by case imo if you have atleast tried to lose it on your own (like myself many losses and many many gains) then its different then someone who has never even attempted to do it and just goes straight to the wls option. This was my biggest fear with the surgery is that it would be TOO easy and i didnt want that. Im weird like that lol i feel like if you go thru the hard stuff you come out stronger of a person in the end. But from all that i have read this doesn't seem to be that easy. I wouldnt get mad about it i think people who have not had this surgery dont know that its still on you to make the right choices. But i would agree most ppl the lose big gain huge. Little tia

Hard time losing the 15 pounds

The Dukan diet is really effective. Pure Protein low fat low carb no calorie restrictions. Exercise is not really mandatory to lose weight on this plan. Can you do any walking? Little tia
  18. Thank you so much for that! My biggest issue is that this has forever been my biggest demon i feel that getting the surgery will cheat me of that experience of doing it on my own and i fear going thru life unfufilled. I would consider myself Somewhat of a plus size athlete lol i love the gym i love being active i have always dreamed of being a runner. Im also afraid that i wont break my food addiction and will seriously hurt myself if i go thru with this. I told my Dr i would let him know my final answer in a week. Little tia

Need advice ( off topic )

Let him go girl. People that really care will FIND TIME to be there for you. He would make you a priority. This is going to be a difficult time for you and having someone who is inconsistant will make it worse. You dont need the stress Little tia
  20. Im taking 6 weeks. Ive never had surgey of any kind and dont want to put myself at risk. I just want to be 110% after surgery Little tia
  21. Im hoping for August fingers crossed. Just had my last pre op appointment. Submitting to insurance hopefully no later than monday Little tia
  22. Its seems like most people getting this surgery are so much smaller then me :-( my bmi is in the 50's cw 348. Is rny better for a higher bmi? Will i not lose as much? Or will it just take more effort on my part whice im 100% ok doing. Any thoughts? Thanks Little tia
