Does anyone have any information that might be helpful for at&t employees with united healthcare ins. in California, getting their surgery covered? My friend works at a call center where she is required to sit all day, and you can just sit and watch all these ladies gradually gain weight over a period of a few years, and naturally they pick up a few weight related medical problems along with the extra pounds. And wouldn't you know it, AT&T does not allow coverage for WLS?! Does anyone of you know ANYTHING that my friend can do? Thanks so much.

I've seen recent posts re: the "pain in the left side" thing some of us are expieriencing, so I wanted to update you all on what my Dr. told me about mine; he said that some people have pain in the area where the tube (that connects the band to the port) runs through a muscle in that area because the tube rubs against the muscle when we move in such a way that causes a strain on the tube in that area. I know there are other possible causes for pain in that area, some of which are serious and should be referred to an MD. I am not reccomending anyone assumes their pain is caused by the same thing as mine. Each one should consult their Dr. to be sure. Debbie

I know this is an old thread, but i am here researching the same type of pain in my left side just under my ribcage. A few months ago when i mentioned it to my band doctor he said some pts. Expierience this and it has something to do with fact that that is where your stomach emptys into the large intestine. I didn't pay much attention at the time as it was happening much less often and was not very disruptive, however it is getting worse and has me concerned. Thankfuly i have my regular appt. With my dr. This wednesday. I have printed out some of the symptoms i've read here and will discuss these with my dr. I will be happy to report back what i find out if anyone has this issue still unresolved, if they will just replay with a request.

Hey everyone! I have not been around for awhile, just thought I would let you all know I am still on the planet. I hope everyone is doing well with their Lap Band journey. I am down 40-45 lbs. now; I had a set-back in August that upset my weight loss for several months, but I am fine now and moving forward. I can't stay now but hope to check back in afterwhile (is that a word?) to play catch up and see how everyone's been doing. Bye!

I am 2 days post op and dying for a glass of iced tea. Something tickles my memorie about caffiene being a no no either before or after surgery, but I can't remember which. Can anyone help me out here? Thanks

I wanted to share the outcome of my issue in case it might help someone else. I'm sorry I didn't respond sooner as I said I would. As it turned out even though there was blood in the syringe when my Dr. removed part of my fill, the band fluid (which was removed a few weeks later) was clean. The Dr. said I'd had a hematoma (a pool of blood) that had formed at the port site due to the fact he'd had to insert the needle multiple times in an attempt to locate the port during my fill. So later that night when he went in to remove some fluid (the band was too tight) some of the blood from the hematoma was drawn up into the syringe. So if there's blood showing up in the syringe it doesn't neccessarily mean there's blood in the band. I don't know what could possibly cause blood in the band though. Debbie

Hi guys. I was just cruising through and wanted to make a comment about the Isopure drinks. I had a really nasty episode after my 2nd fill which according to my Dr. was caused by the concentrated amount of protein in the Isopure drinks. The minute I took one swallow of the drink my stomach began convulsing, and I ended up in the emergency room. My dr. said although I apparently have a sensitive stomach, I should not have been drinking the Isopure drinks so soon after my fill. I just wanted to share that in hopes of sparing anyone else the agony I went through.

Is creamed corn ok 2 wks out?
Little Debbie replied to Losing_It_In_Texas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Tex I wouldn't try corn yet. Even creamed. The skins are hard to digest for some. At the mushies stage I put Campbells Bean With Bacon soup in a blender. It was awsome! I still have it after I've had a fill. There are alot of sugestions on here about foods to eat in the different stages. That's where I got the soup idea. Drs. diet guidelines are as varried as are each persons reactions to certain foods. The advice that stuck with me the most was that for at least one month, your stomach needs to do the minimum amount of work in digusting it's food. It will heal much better, and faster if you are gentle with it. So I hope that will help you in deciding what the best food choices are in the beginning. And I know what you mean about feeling left out in the rain by your medical staff. I came here for all my advice. They have the best help I've seen anywhere. Good luck to you in your journey. Debbie -
Hi Sue I had an unfill a few months back, and I noticed there was blood (alot!) in the syringe. I didn't ask my Dr. what that meant, and he didn't seem concerned. Now, hearing that your Dr. wants to redo yours, I'm concerned. I have an appointment today, as a matter of fact, and I am going to ask him about it. I'll let you know what he says. Debbie

Confession: Pre-Fill Binge
Little Debbie replied to Northwest_Nance's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Nance OK. From the outside looking in, I have to say that I saw someone who is CHANGING THE WAY SHE DEALS WITH FOOD! You should be very proud! Having the urge, then indulging, stopping dead and destroying the evidence (always destroy the evidence), that was absolutely, totaly healthy! Please feel proud in your changes. You are doing great! -
I am having Band envy reading all these posts from you banded Jazzy Junes! I want my Band! Still praying for U all. Welcome to all you new Jazzy Junes! We are having a blast! Cathychats how does it feel to only have 2 days on the (virtual)couch!? LOL I am lazy and will need to be there for at least a week! Hope everyone is recovering quickly. Now guys, I have a rather um, personal question to ask of those of you who are now recovering...if any of you are willing to share... are the toilet tongs necessary or not? The thought of NEEDING them and not having them is kind of stressing me. I know, I know, WHAT a thing to worry about! Butt, you know! :Dancing_wub:

Hi gardengrl, Well this is what my surgeon says about that: He said he sometimes has patients that, while they start out not really having a fatty liver (which makes surgery more difficult, and can even cause them to have to reschedule for full open surgery), that some patients try to eat everything they think they will be missing after their surgery, so they have a bunch of "last suppers", then they GET a fatty liver! So if you can hold back now, that's good!

Jennifer please don't take anything for granted (could be stomach flu). There are just too many nasty virus's and infections floating around out there. Please call your surgeon and let him/her make that call. That would be my advice anyway.
