    Foods My Pouch Can Tolerate

I would love to have the recipe if you wouldn't mind sharing. Is bone broth hard to make? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. I had my surgery on 8/19/2016 and I am still on the puréed foods part of my diet. First couple of weeks my stomach tolerated everything (yogurts, refried Beans, different temperature waters, cottage cheese, foods from my approved list). I watch carbs and sugars. However, it's like my new pouch woke up this week and now every time I eat something I dump (yuck!). It's got to the point now even thinking about food is starting to make me sick. Will this go away or is this something that I need to adapt to? Also, what are some basic foods that are super easy for the pouch to tolerate? Like brands of yogurt (or if some people just can't eat yogurt). Please help as going to restroom as soon as I finish is making me sick. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Everyone tells me I'm tooo young, opinions?

I was 29 when I had RNY. I turned 30 the next day. I wish I would not have waited. If you have people to help support you along your journey, I would say go for it. You are younger you heal better. Remember no one can tell you what is best for you, but you! Honestly, it's a change in eating habits, but if you prepare yourself you will be more ready. There are support groups online and out in the community to help you along your way. Take advantage of them. Best of luck in your decision. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Pain after Vomiting

I had RNY on 8/20/2016, I am 30 years old and no did not have any other problems beside PCOS before surgery. Today, I was sitting on my couch watching Netflix and all of a sudden I just vomited (no warning). It shot straight out on floor. Just some Water and what I believe was bile came out. So raced to the bathroom and puked a small amount in the toilet. I had not been eating just drinking water. I had ate earlier at 5:00 pm (no problems). So I go back out to living room to collect myself and obliviously my stomach hurts. So I just take a look and my indent where my biggest incision on right side is gone. It was there earlier when I showered. It was a pretty good indent. Did I do something? I checked to see if I am running a fever and I am 99 degrees Fahrenheit. I had been having pain lately on my right side slightly above incision (pain deep inside). Going from sitting to standing was increasingly hurting, I just figured it is part of healing. I have also been having troubles taking deep breaths (I have using my spirometer). I keep finding myself needing to take big breaths every once in a while (like to catch my breath). I have never had breathing problems in past. I have attached a picture of my incision (so you could see indent). Should I be worried? Or does this stuff just happen after surgery? I have never had surgery before. Thanks for taking the time to read. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. I want to be able to bike again and be comfortable while doing it. I could never find a seat that fit me. Also to walk without pain in knees or back. To buy clothes in section not labeled "plus", that is not located in corner away from everyone else. Also, just to feel satisfied when eating. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  8. It depends on your surgeon and health insurance. I had an EKG, pulmonary tests (various breathing tests... lots of inhaling and exhaling), breathing into a bag to check for H. pylori bacteria in stomach and upper intestines, upper GI tests (swallowing barium while in various positions while getting x-rayed), blood work to check for anything abnormal, and a urine test for abnormalities and nicotine. That's what mine involved. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  10. Hi All! I recently got back the results of my pre-op test. I quit smoking (actual cigarettes) and started vaping slightly over a year ago. I got myself down to 2 to 3 mg of nicotine when I did my pre-op testing. Oblivously I tested positive for nicotine, however, since I got back my testing results I have quit. It has been fairly easy and I am having no withdrawals, which I credit to weaning myself of nicotine. Anyways, the results of my urine test were (her answers to my question are in red): Is there any way to know what my nicotine level was (I have been stepping down my use and was currently on the lowest level of nicotine before the next step of quitting)? There are 2 parts of the urine test. Your 1st level was 185 (needs to be below 17) and your 2nd level was 599 (needs to be under 20). How long do I need to wait to re-test after quitting for nicotine to be completely out of my system? I have the order to get my lab test re-done. I was trying to find out online but I could not get an exact answer. Will a week be long enough to get my levels low enough or should I wait longer? Thanks for taking the time to read and reply!
