  1. I couldn't find a thread that could answer my question. I'm 6 days post-op, and my port is really itching. It's still a little sore, but mostly itchy. I am assuming it's just in the healing process, but I just wanted to see if there were other people that had itchiness too!

    Fallen from grace...

well, i had my surgery morning of 3/27, and my doctor wanted me on liquids for 6-8 days. well this evening i was incredibly hungry, and i ate not quite a cup of Bush's baked Beans that i smushed into a yogurt. 5 days after surgery and i already screwed up. someone tell me that was foolish??? (even though i was incredibly aware of it to begin with ) i want to be so comitted to this. but i was so hungry and messed up. anyone else out there thats been weak???

    Fallen from grace...

lol!! no i didnt add yogurt to the beans! i just squished the Beans down to a liquid. and you know what guys? i am eating some serious HUMBLE PIE! before i was banded, i came in this forum and would be appalled by people that cheated or ate something they shouldnt on the post op diet for the first 2 weeks. i had gotten myself so prepared for this in every other way but emotionally. goes to show ya that you can never judge other people, because unless ur in their shoes... you dont have any idea what u would do so heres to second chances, and pulling my head out of my ass! thanks to all of you so much for reminding me where my focus needs to be...

    Had a panic attack

well, coming from someone who had a full blown panic attack 15 minutes before i was wheeled to the surgery, the one thing i think you need to really think over is why you are having a panic attack. is it truly NOT related to the lapband? or is it? ill tell ya one thing about me. my panic attacks have TOTALLY been about the lapband, and in my opinion, for a good reason. this surgery is a HUGE lifetime change and comitment. this isn't like buying a car, and if you dont like it you can take it back... its forever. and if you are anything like me, food has been a friend to you. saying goodbye to that is soooooo freakin hard. absolutely tell your counselor, because she can help you, you guys can talk out the TRUE reason you had the panic attack and go from there. panic attacks suck.... best of luck,...send another message if you need anything...
  9. YIKES!! Majorly need some advice! I have had the WORST gas since I got banded 3 days ago. :w00t: I have tried Gas-X strips, and it never went away, so I called my doctor, he said to use Milk of Magnesia because he thinks I may be constipated. I have never been constipated so I have no clue how it feels. It is terrible pain that moves thoughout my shoulders, chest, tummy, and my throat. And when I try to burp or toot, nothing happens the pressure is even worse. The MoM hasn't helped all that much. Any advice??

    Cheated and need advice!!!

i was put on a low-carb pre-op diet...i lost ONE POUND! the reason i was told to go on that type of diet is to get rid of the fat around my liver... surgeon told me it makes it easier on me and him to have more room to move around in. KUDOS to YOU WOMAN for sticking that long to a liquid diet!!!!!!!

    Just call me Bloated Betty...

wyomingirl and renee- yeah still on liquid diet. i have been doing lots of walking around. doesnt seem to help anything come up. so yeah, ill just give it time and just deal with it... the end result is what i have my eye on anyways!!!

    Painful Stretchmarks

i would talk to your MD. the only thing i have ever heard about stretch marks as far as feeling anything, is that they itch. but never painful...

    Why are YOU Fat?

Ahh, why am I fat... 2 reasons in my opinion. 1. I am an emotional eater 2. It takes alot of food to get me full All my life, my family has revolved around food, and that's how I was rewarded by my mom, and my aunts, and my grandma. And so when I ventured into adult life, and I was stressed, or lonely, or whatever, I would turn to food because it brought me back to a comfotable, safe place when I was with my family. Food has become an addiction... but of all addictions I COULD HAVE picked up- I'm glad it was food. My dad died from alcohol abuse, and 90% of the men in my family, on both sides, are alcoholics. I AM READY TO TAKE BACK MY LIFE!!! CAN I HEAR AN AMEN?!?!?

    I have questions...

i am self pay so i didnt really have to wait at all. but i have heard that people with insurance usually wait awhile...
  18. oh yikes....not cool! i totally agree with sharona- FIND A NEW DOCTOR! and i have always heard that you are NEVER supposed to have your very first fill until 4 weeks after your surgery...however, the rules might be different since you only got your tubing and port replaced and not the actual band... dont know?

    Protein...

Just a suggestion- I have read several posts and suggestions about what to eat or drink to get your Protein intake, and there have been comments about what's good and what not, and while those are SUPER to have just to be informed, make sure YOU try the shakes, or drinks, or whatever it may be. Because the thing I have noticed is that I was just writing things off as nasty if there were enough bad comments about it. But then I had actually tried some of the stuff, and it was really good! So the point of this blog is ONLY to tell everyone to make sure and read the comments AND make your own opinion as well. We can never have too many ideas or suggestions when it comes to our Lapbands. Here are some of the things I have tried, and I either liked them, or they were just extremely high in protein, and they were worth chugging down to be able to get that amount! Drink/shake Amount of protein per recommended serving Isopure (grape flavor) 40 grams of protein in 20 oz bottle Slimfast "High protein" powder 14 grams of protein for 2 scoops Wheybolic Extreme 60 (Vanilla) 60 GRAMS OF PROTEIN (Powder form-2.6 oz packet) Kellog's K20 protein Water mix 5 grams of protein per packet **Also, a good idea for an EXCELLENT daily Vitamin is Body Balance. It comes in liquid form. The company is called Life Force and they have a protein supplement that is called Amino Force.

    For those who have PCOS

i am just so depressed about the treatment not working for me... i am so happy you guys have a hold on the problem, but mine just seems to be getting worse. its kind of hard to feel feminine when you have to shave your neck every day like a man, and makes a crunchy noise when your neck brushes up against your clothes. its miserable. i have asked the lady thats doing the treatments why it seems to be getting worse and she said my hair is going though cycles??? and im wanting to say, well how many flippin cycles of hair do i have??? all that money, and pain, and its worse than ever. sorry to be such a whiner.

    Pre-op diet

Just wondering if anyone was put on a no carb diet for pre-op? I know all doctors are different in what they want their patients to do as far as preparation for surgery, and some don't recommend dieting at all. I plan on eating lots of salads, chicken, eggs, and lots of water. And it's only for 10 days. I was also thinking I may go on a liquid diet 24 hours before the surgery. Anyways, thoughts and experiences are greatly appreciated!

  24. hi tom- just a suggestion here... if you get the steak- just chew it and spit it out. it gets your craving taken care of without actually eating it. just an idea!
