6 months supervised
Jenjen2016 replied to Jenjen2016's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you both! I wish you the best too! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I have 2 months to go all! November will be my last weight loss follow up appointment before the surgeons office will submit to my insurance. Super nervous, should I ask the office if they would "fight" for me to get the surgery? I don't want to be disappointed at the end after fulfilling the ridiculous requirements. Thanks Jen Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Okay, so as you may know by now I joined a weight loss clinic to start the 6 month supervised diet. After talking to the surgeons office, they said to still go to my primary care physician for 6 months in case the weight loss clinic is not accepted by insurance. I'm confused because now I am paying for two 6 month supervised diets and that is stupid right? Shouldn't the surgeons office review my benefits or make a phone call to see if that would be suffice? Should I call my health coach or insurance about this? Help! Any thoughts, Jen Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Jenjen2016 replied to Jenjen2016's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks! Well my insurance company is who referred me to this Center of Excellence so I'm covered, but this weight loss program requirement is throwing me a loop and I don't want to waste my time or money on the wrong way of doing it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Supervised weight loss
Jenjen2016 replied to Jenjen2016's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I will be required to do that with my surgeon and since ins pays for everything 100% I will be doing both. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Chef, I also have UHC and it's required I have 6 months of consecutive weight loss programs within 2 years. They won't except 2 months here 3 months there. I have many attempts as well. I wonder if I should talk to someone about this. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Supervised weight loss
Jenjen2016 replied to Jenjen2016's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi! Yes, I am doing the 40 day program; however, the plus side is I can visit every 2-3 weeks to continue having my weight and inches checked and they would basically be follow ups. I'm also planning to continue going in for Lipo-B shots after completion of the HCG. I will be required to keep a journal of all the food I consume so that will help too. Hello all! I have a scheduled consult with the first bariatric surgeon. (I'm reviewing 2) What should I expect, should I bring my food journal, should I bring copies of the money I have spent on weight loss programs and personal trainers? Any advise so I don't forget?? Appt is next Tues, June 21 Thanks!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

My insurance requires the 6 month supervised diet; however, I had a personal trainer for 3 months and spent over $600 for that Aug, 2015-Nov 2015, joined Beachbody from Aug 2015-May 2016 spent well over $1000 for that program, and I also have 3 months supervised weight loss with phentermine 2008 and again in 2013, in March 2015, I saw another Dr. For weight loss and she had me on Alli. Have any of you experienced prior weight loss programs such as these and if so did your insurance approve you and waive the 6 months? I had a stress test- Dec 2015 Diagnosed sleep apnea- June 7th Thanks in advance! Jen Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Insurance assigns a Case Nurse....nice or a trap?
Jenjen2016 replied to gina171's topic in Insurance & Financing
I like my case manager. It's nice to have support from someone other than family who can be bias. I like having someone to talk to about it all also. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Thanks all! Well, after speaking to insurance again, I was able to track the right documents on requirements. Since my Dr. Has not seen any medical records yet there is still a chance of no waiting period Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

The first Dr. I went to said my insurance requires a 6 month diet plan prior to surgery. But, the Dr. Has not seen any medical records yet, could that 6 months diet be waved after reviewing my medical records?? Anyone else? Thanks Jen Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Insurance and Surgeons Office aren't on the same page!
Jenjen2016 replied to mrz.mott's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, I got on the phone again with them and they actually pointed me in the right direction to find the requirements on the UHC website under reimbursements and medical which makes no sense, but when you click in that and scroll to bariatric it's a 35 pages document just about the benefit. So, in all, since my dr's have not received any of my medical records yet, there is still the chance I may not have to wait 6 months. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Insurance and Surgeons Office aren't on the same page!
Jenjen2016 replied to mrz.mott's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So, I get on the phone with United Health Care Choice Plus for the third time today, the rep tells me what I see on my benefits page is what they see and what the Dr. Sees, but that is not the case! The insurance told me the same no diet length written in the policy but dr says 6 months! I'm just as frustrated! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
