Late June Sleeve Buddies?

Right. But a shot once a month instead of more medicine everyday still sounded better to me. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

My surgeon suggested it. They said you can't absorb b12 through your GI track after surgery so it must be taken sublingually, as a nasal spray or by injections. They told me no chewables. And I really didn't want to spray up my nose every morning lol. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I got the injections of B12 so I take one shot every month and a Calcium with vitamin D chew for breakfast, lunch, and mid afternoon. Then 2 multivitamins with dinner. Then one iron pill before bed. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

It is my understanding that fruit requires to stomach to work harder at digestion which wouldn't be good for healing. Soft, canned fruits are on my list for week 4. Also, watermelon is pretty fibrous and stringy so I would keep that for much later.Hmm okay thank you! My list says can fruits in juice and water are okay week 3 along with melons and ripe bananas. That's why I was curious on the watermelon. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Had my first week app on Tuesday and said everything looked great! He said I am clear to swim, which I found odd since I see a lot of people have to wait a lot longer. I'm on full liquid and really ready to move on! I go to soft foods this weekend. But just curious why we can't have fruit right now? Would a few bites of watermelon be a bad idea? I had mine on the 27th and feel extremely better than I thought it was gonna be. Stomach pain is very tolerable. Had some gas pain in my shoulders but that's mostly went away today. Just trying to get all my liquids in. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I went home on full liquids, tried the shakes and took myself back to clear Isopure for a day. What kind of protein water are you drinking? I did pretty well with the Isopure, 40g for a bottle and it helped with getting fluids in too. The shakes are definitely heavier and harder on the sleeve, at least they were for me. I'm drinking the Atkins lift protein waters. They have 20grams a bottle. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I started noticing water was easier to get down on day 4. I am on day 7 and caught myself taking a swig but it went down. I could feel it but no pain. I am supposed to get between 40 and 60 grams of protien and 60 ozs of funds for 1st 2 weeks. Just sip sip sip. You do not want to get dehydrated. You can do it. Are you allowed to have protein shakes or are you just drinking the protein water? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Late June Sleeve Buddies?
ccflotron34 replied to Maggie143's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Had mine on the 27th and like I've already said my pain is very tolerable. Just got done walking around the house for 20 minutes. I try to do that at least every hour to an hour and a half. But I'm still struggling to get all my water down. My pee was pretty dark this morning and I know that's not a good sign. Any tips on how to get it down? It doesn't hurt when I swallow it but I'm just so terrified of drinking too much at once and making myself get sick. Also protein water, how much protein is everyone supposed to be getting at this point? My doctor said at least 15ml and I don't think I'm getting enough of that either. Hi everyone! I just recently got on here and have really enjoyed reading a lot of the forms. My surgery date for the Sleeve is scheduled for June 27th and as its getting closer I'm getting nervous! I have to be on a liquid diet for a week before? And tips for that? Also how long were you out of work after the surgery? Any positive tips would be appreciated! Look forward to sharing this journey with everyone!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Well it's getting close! My surgery is bright and early Monday, I've been on the clear liquid diet all week but today and tomorrow I can't have any Protein. So I'm really struggling today. I've had a cup of broth and a few jellos and Popsicles. I feel so weak and hungry My emotions have been all over the place all week, wondering rather I'm really doing the right thing or not. I'm only 25. Who does something like this at 25?! I'm cutting out over half of my stomach, that's absurd! Will I ever get to enjoy food again? Am I really gonna live the rest of my life with no bread, Pasta, or rice?! Do I really want to have to take medicine forever? Will I always have to worry about throwing up if I eat the wrong thing? Am I going to forever miss food? These are just a couple of the many many things running through my head and I can't turn it off. I hope this is normal because it's making me a nervous wreck and very moody. I either can't stop crying or I want to snap at anyone who looks in my direction. Are sleeved folks able to eat popcorn at any point?
ccflotron34 replied to kadie777's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Really? Cause my dr said no more bread, Pasta, or rice ever! Forever is a long time. That has me more scared then the actual surgery pain. Do you enjoy food like you did before just in smaller portions? Cause I'm afraid eating for me will always have to be a challenge from here on out. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Question is can you or should you? I can easily eat pasta and bread but don't eat it since I am still in weight loss mode. But my sleeve is fine with it. Rice I really can't tolerate.I understand I can't go crazy with it. But when the put the word forever on it it scared me. I don't plan on eating it a lot because I know it is bad for you. I'd still just like to know that way down the road I could have a couple bites of pasta salad or maybe a piece of toast here and there. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Do you feel your docs prepared you for the post-op experience?
ccflotron34 replied to leebick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you I'm glad to hear yours is going well so far! I've been on the pre op clear liquid diet since Monday but today and tomorrow I can't have any protein. So I'm really struggling today. One minute I'm questioning this entire decision then the next I'm excited. Then one minute I want to snap at anyone who looks in my direction or I can't stop crying. Plus I want some food! I'm so scared I'll never be able to enjoy food again it's got me all freaked out. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

ccflotron34 replied to leebick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel the exact way. I met with my surgeon once, besides when I had to have a scope done. But he basically just said to learn the most go to his website. Well their wasn't to much on there. Thank god I found this page and have read people's story's as much as I have. I had a 20 minute phone call for my pysch evaluation and one 15 minute meeting with the nutrition. Where all she did was go over a slide show that I had already got a week before. Besides that all my institutions have came from emails from the Drs office. I too had no idea about your stomach being so swollen, the horrible sounding gas pains, I don't know how much Protein and Water intake I'm suppose to have after surgery. My surgery is Monday morning. (6/27) so hopefully I find a lot a lot more then. Because I am a nervous wreck. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Okay everyone I need some advice! Tomorrow I start my liquid diet and I'm about to head to the store and I know this probably sounds dumb but I'm clueless on what to buy. What's the best Protein shakes to get? Do I get pre made ones? Do I get powder and make my own? Ugh I'm so stressed out already and I haven't even started the process.
