Well said!!!! -- You are so right - I have found myself on the "slipperly slope" on more than one occassion-- "hmmmm if I can eat a cracker....why not a chip..... why not a PIECE OF PIE....." okay so maybe I haven't eaten the pie - but I can't say I havne't been tempted ---- so much of what we are dealing with too is HEAD HUNGER and getting past that feeling that "I should be eating something" --- because - for me - that's what I did before surgery - sometimes just to pass the time-- HOW SAD IS THAT??????

I've been wondering the same thing - I go for a fill on Tuesday and I have kinda been worried about this - it seems to me, that my port is actually -receeding- into my stomach a little - because I can't feel it as much as I could in the beginning - NOW, this may be because the swelling is going down or something????? who knows--- I just DO NOT want to go in there on Tuesday and them tell me they can't do a fill..... I will be devestated....

So I'm in my bosses office one day and he says to another gentleman on a telephone call " yeah that guy is probablly sitting down there talking to all of those fat women"-- and then looks at me and says "OH, no offense Tina"... I'm like "WHAT?????????" what the heck did that mean? THEN later that same week he asked me to drive us to a lunch meeting - he steps in my car and has to move McDonalds bags out of the way...... "Uh, you really shouldn't eat that stuff you know......" and I say - THEY'RE NOT MINE---(we both knew better) --- I WAS SO MAD--- until I realized he was right...... So --- after some serious self realization, looking at the handfull of medicationi I was on, remembering all of the diet traps, accessing my family "genes" - I decided to do something about it - and the research began.... the decision wasn't hard - Feb 5 08 - I did it.... and so the journey began...

Just curious - when were you banded? I wanted to compare...... Okay here goes for me: I ate KFC chicken wings yesterday (4 of them) a small serving of mashed potatoes and cole slaw FELT NOTHING -- (I go for a fill on the 11th) As a snack I have indulged in 3 Reduced Fat Oreos w/6-8 oz of milk.... YES TOGETHER.... and then lieterally wanted to cry myself to sleep..... OH YEAH and just about an hour ago I walked by a co-worker's desk and popped a handfull of reece's pieces in my mouth - :bored:--
-
OH MY - I'm sorry - it's actually sold - pre-popped in like the chip section - I believe Conn's makes it - but I could be wrong about the brand GOOD LUCK!
-
I haven't tried the pop corn - HOWEVER - here we have this stuff that they call puffcorn or hull-less popcorn -a nd it's fairly soft and sorta melts in your mouth --- NOW - 3 cups of the stuff is 150 calories and (I think 7 grams of fat) - which isn't DEADLY bad - but it isn't great either --- just a thought

I'm going nuts here!!!!!
tinaf replied to Sherry L.'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Okay so I just had to chime in - fortunately for me I don't miss my coke too much - I think part of the reason is I was told by my docs that if you DO continue to drink any carbonation, besides the gas it causes, the "stuff" that is in it can cause the band to errode into the stomach - that did it for me.... Good luck - OH YEAH - I too, couldn't stand the artificial sweeter stuff like in crystal light, and all fo the fake stuff we are ALLOWED to drink - but I MADE myself do it for a few days and you really do acquire a taste to it and it's not so bad - one trick for me was to add 1/2 scoop of Protein whey to a bottle of crystal light - it kinda takes the "sharpness" away and gives it a slightly creamy texture - the lemonade is almost like lemon meringue -and the orange a dreamcicle.... -
Freaking out.....seven incisions?
tinaf replied to rkilbury's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't let the incisions freak you out - I have 5 - two about the size of a quarter (one is slightly larger) and then three VERY VERY small ones - I am 4 1/2 weeks post op and they are all healed very nicely - they were only closed with steri strips - so I'm expecting minimal scaring - -
I'm sooooo with ya --- I am one week from my first fill and am just sitting on my hands to call the doc and asked to be moved up. I'm feeling no real restriction, WANT to eat everything in site (I'm PMS-ing too).... craving things like oreo's and milk and all of the stuff I've done SO WELL with staying away from..... I officially now know why they call these weeks Bandster Hell....... BRING ON THE FILL - I tell ya I'm finding myself wondering what the heck this thing is doing for me (NOTHING AT THIS POINT)...UGH!!!!!

I CANNOT stand to touch icecubes for fear that my hand might "stick" to it - if there is any moisture and you get that "stick/cold feeling" -- sends me into a gross out dance everytime.... I also can't stand to (or watch anyone else) BITE into something cold - popcicles, ice cream - etc...... it literally sets me on edge. OHHH one more - I can't stand those little advertisements that fall out of magazines - they make me ANGRY - I have to go thru and pull them all out before I can read a magazine (back to FRONT of course). I could go on but I'll spare you :w00t:

Calling all Feb. Bandsters! Tell us about yourself!
tinaf replied to Gibson's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey everyone! -- I am a 36 year old mom of a 11 year old son and am a paralegal by profession. My husband (and high school sweetheart) was just diagnosed with diabetes so we are completely making lifestyle changes together. We gained weight together - guess now it's time to reverse it! I enjoy reading, watching movies and scrapbooking. -
Oh my gosh- I was laying in bed last night thinking WHY am I so ITCHY - I had taken a bath earlier - and thought that was it --- but maybe it IS this diet/thing - Hmmmmm.... I mean - it was bad - the itchiness - kinda kept me awake off and on all night.

Anyone else in WEEK 4 Post-op??
tinaf replied to SeattleGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Okay, well, I was banded Feb 5th so we're about 5 days apart - I go for my first fill on March 11th-- and I'm at the what I call the mushy/soft food stage - I'm actually feeling like I could eat anything. I don't - YET - but I even ate a piece of VERY toasted wheat bread with chicken salad over the weekend with no problem. What about you? -
OH MY GOSH - I am so with ya - I too, at about that time was STARVING - Stomach growling, tumbling...and I'm seriously thinking there is NO WAY I can live like this - THEN - I found GNC 100% whey Protein - unflavored - you can literally mix it into anything - tomato soup, milk, carnation instant breakfast (my favorite) yogurt, sugar free pudding, refried beans--- etc. It really did make a difference and got me thru to the next food stage --- I think at this point it's your body saying "what the heck have you done to me - where's the beef"..... ha! Now, I'm 20 days post op and on mushies/soft food and I have not had the hunger pangs that I did before - I still get hungry - but by then it's about time to grab something. Just remember they say that at this point there really isn't any restriction (only swelling/healing process) so you will tend to be a little hungry - ME however, while I'm not feeling anything like what I would call "restriction" I am consuming way less than before- I'm getting fuller quicker and on much less - so SOMETHING is working in there. Hang in there - there are better days to come.

Comparing FREE food diary and calorie counters
tinaf replied to househuntress's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I use Calorie Count Plus - Free, Intelligent, Online Dieting I love the recipe analyzer.-- Just put in your ingredients and it gives you the results with the option to add a portion to your day. I've just started using it - but so far so good! -
Thanks so much guys... I think I'll steer clear after all of this advice. I'm also afraid of starting the slipperpy slope- "well, if I eat this.....then........" HA! thanks again.

I found the PERFECT blender combo thing at on QVC it is a blender base - but then it has four shake size cups and four mini serving cups -- these all fasten into the actual blade-thing to mix/blend/puree - then you remove the blade thing and put on a sip type cup ring - it also came with the regular type blender pitcher - it was a GREAT DEAL (around 50 bucks) and it is extremely easy clean up - I use it LITERALLY two to three times a day.

ME ME ME Holzer Hospital - Dr. Canady I've Private messaged you if you wanna chat Tina

My advice is HANG IN THERE - I too, felt this same way about 3-4 days after surgery - I was in WAY more pain than I had expected - thought I was a total crybaby - but as days went on - I did start feeling better. Just to give you an idea I had surgery on a tuesday and was still taking vicodin on sunday . Now, I am 17 days out and feeling much better. I also came back to work too soon, I would give your body PLENTY of time to heal.
-
Okay - I had a similar situation - about 6 days post surgery I was starving - the point of PAIN.... went to the doc and they reviewed my intake and said that I was only getting about 1/2 of the Protein I needed - so I went to GNC and bought some unflavored protein whey - I started immediately mixing it in with Tomato Soup, Carnation Instant Breakfast (no sugar added), and anything else I could eat (like thin mashed potatoes) - within a day of getting my required 60-70g of protein I stopped being ravenous. I am now 16 days post surgery and can tolerate semi-soft foods but NOT alot- I think alot of it has to do with my breakfast every morning being a Protein shake. Granted - I have to eat something about every three hours to ward off hunger - but I don't consume much - because I NOW know when to quit-- and I haven't had my first fill yet. Moral of the story - really - try some Protein Drink FIRST and wait an hour before consuming anything- it might help you. I totally know what you mean tho - before I figured this out I was thinking there is NO WAY I could do this feeling hungry. GOOD LUCK!
