It is really me. Haven't been on this site for a long time. I can't meet regularly, but if any of you are getting together, let me know and I will try to make it sometime. It has been a busy, crazy year. Good News - I got married. Bad News - I had breast cancer and a double mastectomy and reconstruction. All is well now though. It was good to hear from you. -

My surgeon was Sidney Rohrscheib. He has an office in Clinton and in Champaign. His number is (866) 622-9222. I would hope that he could do a fill for you since your surgery was done in Kuwait. Good Luck! -

Congratulations on your new band. How are you feeling? I will hit my one year anniversary on the 26th of March. I'm only down twenty pounds, but I guess that is better than being up twenty. Dawn, Becky and I met last year, but it has been a long time ago. Maybe we can work out another meeting. What did you reference "Former Peoria Resident" mean? -
Hi- I'm scheduled for Surgery on March 26. This week I get my pre-op and meet with the nutritionist. I would love to talk to someone from this area.

Thanks for the update, Dawn. It sounds like you have had a horrible summer. Glad things are going better now. I would love to get together. Becky - Are you out there????? I am going to Disney World around Thanksgiving, but other than that, it would be great to meet in Lincoln. I saw Becky for a minute a few months ago. She was called into Dr. R's, then was gone when I got out. I haven't been on this site for ages. In fact they bumped me off and I had to register again. I don't know how to get this box off my post - do you? -

How is everyone doing? Dawn, how are your legs feeling now? Becky, it was good to see you at Dr. R's yesterday. You might know, when we wanted to talk they would call us right in. What happened with you? I didn't get a fill this time. The first two weeks after my last fill I couldn't keep anything down. Now I am fine. I was glad they didn't have to stick me to check how much was in there. I go back in four more weeks. -

Hi- How are you doing Dawn? Did the surgery help your legs? This has been a busy summer. I haven't been checking in on this site much at all. Tomorrow I go back to Clinton. Still not losing much. They will probably give me another small fill. Maybe this fall we can all try to get together again. -
Suggestions Please On Best Tasting Protein Shakes
Midwest Carol replied to slim2be's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My favorite is the HMR 800 Chocolate Shake. I get them on-line from Health Management Resources. Each shake has 160 calories and 16 g. of protein. I think they are delicious. My doctor's office carries the Unjury. It is not bad, but the HMR is so much better to me. -

I checked my messages about 8:00 this morning, then headed out about 9:30 so I didn't get your message. No one else showed up. I kept thinking that I went to the wrong place. I waited until noon, then ordered some cheese soup and had a couple of crackers. Since I was so close, I decided to go to the Riverboat and throw away some money. On Monday I got my second fill and actually now know what "restriction" is. Hopefully I can begin to lose some weight. -

Hi Ladies- When Becky and I met in Lincoln we decided to try a lunch on Saturday, May 24 at 11:30 in Morton. We were going to try Applebee's, but it looks like it has closed. Are we going to Ruby Tuesday's? Is that right off of 74? KRISTI - can you meet us there? Anyone else reading this is very welcome to join us. At our earlier meets we all wore yellow shirts so we could recognize each other. I had my first fill on Monday. I tried to call Becky when I got out, but you must have been on your way to IBC. Anyway, after the "harpooning" I asked the P.A. why they don't use something like novacaine to numb the area. You were right, Becky, she said it would take too long with each patient because they would have to wait 10 or 15 minutes. However, she did say "I could give you a shot first though", and she pointed to the bottle on the table. She said it would feel like a bee sting. I told her that I had to drive an hour each way so another 10 minutes wouldn't bother me at all. She said, "With the shot I wouldn't have to wait at all". Believe me, next time I am going to try it to see if it helps. IBC recently met with the band company and they are now recommending fills at one month increments. She said that if it fit my schedule better, they could do it in two weeks. My next appointment is May 19. I may have a little restriction from this fill, but not much. Unless it changes, I will definitely be ready for more. Hope everyone can meet on the 24th. Stay healthy! -
3 weeks out & eating like a horse!
Midwest Carol replied to oneinamillion's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the encouragement. My surgery was 3/26. The first two weeks were wonderful - No Hunger! It was probably from the anesthesia and the swelling. Unfortunately, as soon as I went back on mushies the hunger returned. Can't get my first fill until May 5, so will just have to white knuckle it until then. Glad to see I'm not the only one in this boat and that there is hope for the future. -

Springfield Area Bandsters?
Midwest Carol replied to Midwest Carol's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wow Terri, what an inspiration. Hope we all do as well (but hope to skip the slippage part). I just told Becky that a group of IBC patients are meeting on April 22 at 6:30 at Cracker Barrel in Lincoln. We met last month in Bloomington. Everyone is going to wear a yellow shirt so we can recognize each other. We are going to try to do this monthly at different locations. Watch the threads for Bloomington, Champaign and Springfield. Feel free to join us at any time. I like your screen name. Haven't had a diet pepsi since March 25. -

Becky- I must have just missed you yesterday. I was so glad that we got the new band. Apparently they have been using the new 10 c.c. band since August. They are giving me 1 c.c. in early May, then another 1 in about two weeks. It is so interesting getting used to food again with the band. Chew-chew-chew! -

Becky- I was at Dr. Sid's today, the 7th. My appointment was at 2:30 but I got there early and they took me. What time was your appointment. I got to start on mushies!!! Took my daughter and granddaughter to MCL and had some cottage cheese, mashed potatoes and green Beans. Oh it tasted so good after all these liquids. -
