  1. Hiatal hernia. It works beautifully with your weird eating afterwards as well.
  2. This is how I keep weight in check years out from VSG... 2 weeks is how long it takes the results to show up. I still track food and weight. If I get to the high end of my 3lb. range I will lower my calories to 1400ish for 2 weeks. It works every single time.
  3. I went to Dr. Joya in Puerto Vallarta. Down to 177 from 261, 3ish years post OP. I took aftercare in to my own hands. Scheduled a few therapist sessions and I get my bloodwork done annually. Also from Canada, so I wasn't worried about any issues with my sleeve afterwards.
  4. I did the same. Went to PV for surgery and hubby had some dental work done. I did research online and looked up the address on Google maps. Check the dentist's Google reviews.

Vets - How often do you weigh yourself?

I also weigh and track daily. My "oh crap" alarm goes off at 3 lbs.
  6. Just say no, I don't have insurance.

    Holiday Party Tact

I'm wondering if anybody else has any phrases or tips they use for the big food gatherings? I find that I get questioned at work occasionally. I sat down at the Christmas lunch with my little bit of food and somebody said "is that all you're going to eat?" I said "yep, saving room for dessert." My plate usually has 1/4 of the food everybody else's has. 😳 My other go to phrase is "I'm trying to be skinny." Or I tell them that I try eat about 200 cal. every 2-3 hours.

When do you start losing weight?

I've noticed roughly every two weeks you will see a change on the scale. If I'm really good and follow the plan for two weeks straight I will jump on the scale one morning and 2-4 pounds are gone. Wash, rinse, repeat. I highly recommend tracking your weight with an app and taking note of your cycle as well. I use My Fitness Pal. As you get further along you will notice a pattern related to your TOM.

    Sleeve or Bypass... help!

I would go with bypass. Your weightloss will be more significant and reflux will hopefully go away.

    Food funerals?

I'm slowly creeping up on my two year anniversary. Food funerals are completely unnecessary. I ate like crap before my surgery as well. You are getting this surgery in order to change your relationship with food. You will be able to fit more volume as time goes on. Although it's never the same (think Thanksgiving with seconds and dessert) Your tastebuds may even change. This surgery is ultimately a tool that will help you separate head hunger from real hunger to help get you on track to making healthy, lasting, changes.
  13. At 1.5 years post-op I'm currently going back and forth between 194 and 199. I would still like to lose 25 more pounds.

In hindsight, I should have gotten the bypass. I fight with the fat person in my brain Every. Damn. Day! I am strongly considering a revision for reflux and to make eating sweets a punishment.

I still feel fat, I still hate myself. People are nicer, men touch me 😳 platonically of course, but it still weirds me out. I don't do chips, bread or fries. I do eat ww toast and a taco shell on occasion.

I still have restriction. The bad foods are the slippery ones... but, when you put your mind to it you can eat very little and feel satisfied.

I would do it again in a heartbeat. 💖

Thank you for the update. I'm still on the medication at 9 months out but I find I can go a day in between without it now. My dr thinks I may be able to come off it totally after 2 years post op. It doesn't bother me much being on the meds and he says there is no long term issues with it.

I should have reached out to you sooner. You seemed unhappy last time I messaged you. I wish you felt more positive about where you are. Are you talking to a professional? You've come so far and have done so well that I wonder if you got to your goal weight you would still have concerns.

I would also like to lose 20 or so more pounds and I plan to push to get there but if it crawls back up after I won't let it get to me. I'm 2 weeks away from a breast reduction so I'm going to step up the meal replacement protein shakes and really watch my carbs. Dieting is such a mind game though, every time I try to make a push for weight loss it seems to backfire and I have cravings and eat worse.

Would you consider doing more protein shakes for meals? At least for a bit to jump start weightloss again?

That's a good idea, I should switch back to my morning coffee shake for a month and see what happens... I think my down moods might be cycle related, I am going to see if maybe my estrogen is low.

Good luck on the breast reduction recovery.

    Goal Jeans!

    From the album: My Progress

I zipped them up today. Yes there is a muffin top, and a camel toe too. Still feels good though. 😁
  15. Start tracking immediately. Find out what you Resting Metabolic Rate is (google RMR calculator). Ask yourself if you are really hungry before you put it in your mouth. Portions should be no bigger than your palm, use little plates. Be accountable.

    Hair Loss

The good news is that it stops eventually. I'm pretty sure I lost 40% of my volume, it was quite shocking. I went the biotin/protein route, I doubt it did anything for me. The surgery puts a large amount of your hair in to the shedding phase, it just takes a few months to all fall out. I would still trade half of my hair to lose 70 lbs. Any day. 😉

    17 Months Post-op

    From the album: My Progress

I hit 194 today! I am in a good place right now. I am really happy I did this. I am still slowly working towards goal, but, I'm not going to stress out about it. This is a lifestyle change. 😊

    Stalled and getting nervous

Everything Allwet said. It's either lower your intake, or add some activity.

    Changing that mindset

I truly think that this is the key to success. It is embracing a lifestyle, and healthier habits in general.

    Reconsidering bypass

I've never had reflux issues in my life. If I miss one day of my reflux meds post sleeve, it's terrible pain. I am considering getting a revision. I've got a scope scheduled next month. If I could do it all over again, I would have gone straight to bypass.
  22. It will get better over time. For me, it was replaced with my fill switch. I avoid that feeling all costs. 🤢

    Weight Fluctuation

I'm a little over a year out. I always bounced up and down within a 5 lb. range. Before dropping a couple more pounds. I've tracked my weight on MFP from the start. There is definitely a pattern related to my cycle.
