Do you think it's too early to eat pasta, bread, etc?
Ldyvenus replied to Savannah.Silva's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I would wait. Carbs are calorie laden and they aren't filling. Also, since surgery, noodles and pasta are kind of gross and pasty tasting for me. So it was an easy transition. -
Question for >1 year sleevers!
Ldyvenus replied to Amy1234's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It depends on the fixings. I have done a really good job of removing bread from most of my meals. I just had a company BBQ at my new job and I had a hot dog with no bun, and a spoonful of Mexican dip. Looking around at everybody else's plate was a real eye opener. I felt awkward but nobody said anything. You could eat half of a sandwich or take the top off. Honestly, there are alot of weird diets out there now, you can tell people you are trying to cut carbs. -
You should check out Dr. Duc Vuong (Dr. V) on YouTube. He has a whole series on weight loss surgeries and he recommends the pescatarian lifestyle. His videos are great, but I'm not a fan of the fishes.

Serious about MEXICO but many questions and concerns
Ldyvenus replied to Kristi Jacobs's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I did mine in Puerto Vallarta with Dr. Joya. All of my pre-op work was done in the a.m. before surgery. I would never recommend that somebody who is a high risk patient travel to another country for surgery. One of the advantages of going to Puerto Vallarta is that you don't have to drive over the border, and the hospital is literally next door to the hotel. I would bring a bit of extra cash for tipping and meds. -
I feel like a bariatric toddler, too young to be a vet, too old for the same questions over and over again. I'm gonna throw a fit.
It's like weight loss Groundhog day: stalls, vitamins, and is this normal?
Although, if everybody used the search function there would be fewer active posts, which would make the forum no fun. The cycle continues..

Things you wish you had
Ldyvenus replied to Millerlight's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
2 things I brought that were really helpful, were an extension cord and a heating pad. -
What to do with children?
Ldyvenus replied to Newbeginnings313's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
4 year olds don't care about anything besides themselves. The only thing a four year old needs to know is that mommy is going to the doc, and to be careful of her sore tummy when she gets back. Answer any questions appropriately. I drew a pic for my 9 year old, and let him know what the deal was. -
How can spouse help?
Ldyvenus replied to lessoflilo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
By not bringing those fu#@ing chocolate chip cookies into the house! -
I got a Taylor scale for around $15 at Walmart. It is in the kitchen gadgets section.

Type 2 diabetes runs in my family on the maternal side. My hope is that I will never get type 2 diabetes, which should extend the length and quality of my life. What about heart disease, blood pressure... You don't think that people who get these surgeries are going to possibly have longer, healthier lives?

So How Many Of You Guys Want To Actually Get Down To A Normal BMI?
Ldyvenus replied to Proud2BMe's topic in The Guys’ Room
I'm with you, my goal is 185 lbs. which was my pre-marriage weight, it is also 60% EWL from my starting weight. My stretch goal is 175, I can't imagine myself getting anywhere near a normal BMI. -
Lacking the motivation to even walk...
Ldyvenus replied to sleevedshereen's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Don't beat yourself up about exercise. At this point it can make you hungry because you will burn more energy. As long as you are at a calorie deficit, the weight will come off. -
Woohoo! I just got a job offer. The pay is better and there is an extra week of vacation. AND they give you an extra 15 minutes on your lunch break for walking. So cool! I went shopping for some new work clothes this morning, the size large button up shirts gave me smash boob. Which reminded me of Chris Farley, lol.

But I didn't get the job. I have been on a few interviews this month, this is the first one that I thought would be a fantastic fit for me. I got that dreaded call today, "we have chosen another candidate, we'll keep your resume on file blah, blah, blah." I did my recon on the company before the interview, and I noticed not one fatty. So immediately I know they probably won't hire me because Im a not "normal sized". A terrible assumption, but I'll truly never know how many opportunities I missed out on because I'm not thinner. The interview went so well though. 😶

Paralyzed leg with weight gain and Dr freaked me out
Ldyvenus replied to Happyinside45's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
If permanence is what scares you... I would consider the fact that the lap band needs periodic maintenance also. The sleeve would be a better option, they both work in the same way. -
Soups After Surgery
Ldyvenus replied to FluffyChix's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I ate wonton and vegetarian vegtable soup, quite often at one month post op. They both have some substance though. -
Question. Today is beginning of my 3rd week post surgury (gastric bypass) how does your body loose weight getting off liquids and start mushy food today
Ldyvenus replied to Desiree molina's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It all comes down to calories in/calories out. Your stomach is too small to take in an adequate amount of calories to sustain your daily activity. Your body will burn the stored fat to cover the calorie deficit. You have to choose good food to put into your body, and the weight will continue to drop. Are you tracking? -
I still chew gum, I consider it a public service. I can't stand smelling what people ate for lunch when they walk past me, or sit close by. I just spit it in to the wrapper when I am done.

Give him a break man. He's excited! -
This! I am a clean plate club member and I will always try to get more for less. This is definitely something that I am working on post op. Buffets are completely out of the question now.

Pretty much this, and I'm looking for a job right now. I haven't found anything to replace the feeling or planning part of food comfort. I am shopping in different stores and taking advantage of grocery pick up. I think this is the part that lands people back here a few years after surgery, looking for regain support. The story usually starts with an accident, death, injury, or loss of some kind. Therapy might be something that helps, if you can find the right therapist. We all have to start with a strong conviction about our new relationship with food.

From the album: A Few of my Favorite Things
I haven't made my crazy Japanese knock off rice since before surgery. It was a family favorite. For this version, I used grilled chicken strips, riced veggies, garlic salt, and sesame seeds and a dash of teriyaki. It was pretty good, the kids loved it. -
I am at 200 lbs. now, and I fit comfortably in all of the 16's I had saved. I am round in the middle, so my issue is always really big pant legs.

I'm terrified to give away my fat clothes now that I'm tiny!
Ldyvenus replied to itstimealready's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I'm on the fence with this one. What if there is some sort of mind set that allows you to get back to size 10, because you know you've got them laying around? I had a hard time getting rid of my first round of clothes and I don't even have fancy stuff.
