    Leaving your job?

I moved across the country and got a new job a couple months after my surgery. It worked really well for me. Nobody at either job knows anything about my surgery.

    11 Months Post Op

    From the album: My Progress

I've been going back and forth between 195 and 201. My body seem to be settling back in to an old set point. My first holidays were a bit overwhelming, I wanted to load up and chow down. I stuck with 1 bite of everything and skipped the bread.
  5. I went with Dr. Joya in Puerto Vallarta. They took great care of me.
  6. Although I agree insurance companies try to save money, I completely and respectfully disagree with this statement. Some people have physical and mental issues which prevent them from ever being good candidates for bariatric surgery. The process is in place to make sure the right people are chosen, and to provide those people with the tools necessary to be successful long term.

    7 month update...down 103 lbs

Fantastic post! Congrats on you success so far. 😁

    Clothing Sizes

Yes! I have a pair of "goal jeans" from 2002, that are a size 15. I can't quite zip them yet. I am now buying newer pants in size 10 - 14. It's weird, I keep taking the wrong size to the dressing room.
  9. Are you tracking your food and weight with an app? I use My Fitness Pal to track everything. I started noticing after a few months of constant loss, that I gain a few pounds during ovulation every month. Being ravenously hungry is also another sign that Aunt Flo is coming to visit soon.
  10. I got my VSG done in Puerto Vallarta. Everything went well. But, I chose this route after first looking into what my options were in Canada. I wish I had more prep before I got the surgery, everything I know came from internet research. This surgery is not a quick fix, you have to learn how to make lasting lifestyle changes and deal with any mental/emotional issues that come up when all you can do is drink your calories for the first few weeks. I highly recommend jumping through the hoops before you consider Mexico.
  11. I was looking for a recipe to use with leftovers and I came across Fathead dough on Ditchthecarbs.com. Has anybody ever tried this stuff? It looks really good. There are tons of keto recipes on the site with pics. They even have a low carb kids section, which is awesome, because I've been omitting bread from most meals and I make some weird combos now. 😁

    What about seeds after surgery?

You should be able to eat berries. I had pumpkin seeds on Halloween.
  13. Buy some powdered mixes to throw in to your purse.

    Time off

At least two weeks is optimal. I planned for four weeks, but had to return to work earlier.
  15. Initially I would wait two weeks. I weigh myself daily, first thing in the morning. Weighing myself is one of the first things I used to stop doing, when I started gaining. I want this time to be different.
  16. There really is no way to stop it. The surgery causes your follicles to go into a resting phase.
  17. Don't be discouraged. I've read that it is usually slower the second time around. This time focus on making healthy, lasting change to your eating habits.
  18. 9 months post op and 65 lbs. down. I am happy with this weight, I feel really good here, normalish...

I can no longer "shop" in my own closet. I am in size L strechy pants and size 14 jeans. I still grab the XL/16 when I go shopping, because I'm convinced it's all vanity sizing.

I need to work on treats and social food gatherings. I allow myself too much. I am determined to get to goal over the next few months, so I will be changing my evening snack, and saying no to the Halloween treats that will be in the office over the next few weeks.

Things I am still doing right:

    - Tracking my food...honestly

    - Waiting 1/2 hour after eating, to drink

    - Focusing on protein

    - No chips or white bread in the house

    - 15 min walk during the week

    - Eating out less

  23. I have little one too. We eat alot of chicken now. I didn't really freeze much. But I've got cheese sticks, yogurt, shaved black forest ham, Whisps, and vegetarian vegtable soup on hand all of the time.

    Gallbladder

Yes. I had my first attack about 6 months after VSG. I had it removed shortly after. I don't have any issues.
