Current understanding of LOW protein, high carbohydrate diets and calorie restriction on longevity and metabolic health
Ldyvenus commented on HeatherS.'s blog entry in VSG 032717: The Search for my Waist
I would really like to know what blood labs look like for people who follow high protein/fat diets. It would be interesting to see the long term effect. I am a fan of the moderate diet with a balance of everything included. -
How soon after surgery have you started to smoke?
Ldyvenus replied to BeGood's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I switched to vaping 1 year before surgery. It's cheaper and you can lower your nicotine level to 0 slowly. I'm at 3mg now, I started at 12 mg. -
Not only that, but really sweet, artificially sweetened liquids. 🙃 I still have one every morning though.

Lol. Ma'am I'm going to have to ask you to step away from the donut and remain calm! Help is on the way. -
Short-term Disability Request for Surgery Advice
Ldyvenus replied to LINZ62383's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
My company's policy was at least one month in advance, in case they need coverage. -
I'm a cheese freak so I bought a scale to measure my meats and cheeses. It is a habit I am still working on.

I don't know about hair, I haven't noticed any loss yet. But my nails are much stronger. I take 2500 mg daily.

I stall roughly every 3 weeks, but then I will see a 2-5 lb. loss. I have started to notice that my body likes to stall at old set points. I'm really looking forward to 197 😁

Why Did You Gain Weight?
Ldyvenus replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Love was food, treats were often, and processed was the way to go. I use food for comfort, and later on in adulthood I believe I use it to zone out and relieve stress. I remember being 80 lbs. at 8 years old, and I also sucked my thumb until almost 9. Hmm... You might be on to something. -
Which surgery did you have? I choose the sleeve specifically because I would still be able to take Ibuprofen post surgery. I have used it a handful of times since surgery with no issues.

I love carbs and sugar. I still crave both just as much, immediately after the surgery. My plan is everything in moderation, one day at a time. If I cut something out of my diet completely, I usually end up giving in and over doing it. Right now Saturday is my "cheat day" which means higher calories and a treat. I am pretty much low carb the rest of the week. I don't know what this will look like long term, I'm pretty certain I will be a complete failure 3 years out. Apparently the only way to be successful at this, is to become a body builder, or marathon runner and eat a lifelong keto diet. But, I don't want to eat only chicken and cottage cheese for the rest of my life, and I sure as hell haven't noticed an increased desire to run marathons post surgery either.

Missing food: so emotional
Ldyvenus replied to katieroybal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
((katieroybal)) I think you need a hug. I feel where you are coming from. It hits you hard when you realize how important we have made food in our lives. -
New way of thinking, new me, BETTER ME.

I am currently using My Fitness Pal. It track calories, nutrients, and macros. Good luck on your journey, those caffeine headaches are gnarly. -
Going through this on your own?? Feedback or opinions?
Ldyvenus replied to Aijan's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I also went alone. It was relaxing, I did a lot of sleeping. -
Maybe it's just in my head, but water makes me feel sick sometimes
Ldyvenus replied to Lovelyladybee's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I still have the water cramping. I just add no calorie flavoring or drink tea now. -
Losing weight after baby is born
Ldyvenus replied to Tashina's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Not WLS related, but... Breastfeeding helped me lose the baby weight quickly with both kiddos. -
updating your weight on this site
Ldyvenus replied to RussT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Click patients in the menu bar. It is under my surgery. -
Weight gain after surgery and how do I update my stats?
Ldyvenus replied to Kennalb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can update you stats by clicking patients on the menu bar, then my surgery. I didn't tell my coworkers about my surgery, but the snacks they are bringing seem to be healthier since I've changed my own habits at work. Maybe you can ask coworkers not to offer you sweets? I think the stats 5 years after VSG show 50% of patients will have as significant gain. It is all up to you. -
I have been avoiding it as well. I have many xl and size 18 in the closet. I went out today to find an interview outfit, and tried on a 16 pants and a large top. They fit! Just go back in a month and try again, you don't want to waste too much money on clothes now anyways, you still have many more pounds to lose. 😎

Forgetful on Vitamins
Ldyvenus replied to aloha_adee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I put the bottles on the counter by the sink for the first few weeks. I make a protein shake and take the vitamins before I leave in the morning. Now it has just become a habit, and they are in the cupboard above the sink. -
Am I broken?
Ldyvenus replied to deflationinprogress's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt like my restriction wasn't very good either. There are a few of us on this forum in the same boat. I think that is why they stress protein first, it is dense and filling. On days where I eat more protein, I tend to do a lot better. -
I picked the last weight I felt good at. I can't even imagine what I would look like, if I got much lower than that.

I told everybody hiatal hernia. It worked perfectly, it explains the absence and the strange eating.

Low Iron (feeling discouraged)
Ldyvenus replied to Ivy383's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Do you have a cast iron skillet? It's another easy way to get more iron into your diet.
