  1. Hi everyone! I am 2 weeks post op and I have had this hard lump near my main incision site. I've noticed it about 4-5 days ago. It is about the size of a golf ball and mainly bothers me when I get into bed and my body bends and it almost "squishes" it. The incision site looks very good. It is not red or anything. It is a little warm to the touch but not hot. I called my Dr's office and they said that it is normal at the main site and that it is scar tissue. I just want to see if others have had this and if it was in fact scar tissue or something else. I can't believe scar tissue would be the size of a golf ball already. I'm concerned it might be something else. Thanks!

    Struggling

I'm 4 weeks post op and I am really struggling mentally. I love food, which is partially why I am in the place I'm in. I'm at the point where I don't know why I even eat. To get Protein -- I'll have a shake. There is no joy in eating anymore. It is just a chore. There is no flavor left by the time I am done chewing. My food gets cold by the time I am done eating it. I just don't feel like eating anymore. I don't want to go through the hassle of cooking and eating 1/4 cup. I just wish I could eat normal foods, just less of it. Maybe eventually I can, but then I'm afraid I'll fall right back into a hole. I'm just depressed I guess. Food made me happy and now it is just a horrible chore.
  3. I am only supposed to have 1/4 cup at each meal. I cannot drink 30 minutes before and 60 minutes after a meal. Trying to get my Water in is very difficult. I generally have a shake for Breakfast and that way I don't have to do the 30/60 rule. My doctor's guideline is 1/4 - 1/3 cup from 0-3 months. At 6 weeks I think 1 cup is a lot. But, then again the pouch size that your doctor did could be different based on their program. I have a Protein shake in the afternoon. I was told no Snacks at all. Only 3 meals per day. The Protein shakes do not count as a "meal" as I need these to supplement the protein.

    When to start exercising?

I'd also like to see what others say about exercise. I'm around 3 weeks as well and i've hit the week 3 stall. I'm in the same boat with not cleared to exercise other than walking. Trying to get into a routine to do that and increase my distance, since it seems that is all I can do for now.
  5. I weigh myself daily. I'm only 3.5 weeks post op, but I need to know how I am doing. I can't wait and do it monthly because if I need to tweak something, I feel that I'll be behind the game. Although hitting this week 3 stall is very disappointing.

    May bypass group!

I'm about 3.5 weeks post op and hit the dreaded week 3 stall. I've had some issues with eating too much, even though I measure the food at every meal. Seems that even 1/4 cup is too much for me. If I eat less I feel fine as long as I eat it slowly. I'm still sleeping on my back using the wedge pillow. I tried laying on my side and it just feels funny and I'm scared I'm going to mess something up. I'm so used to the wedge pillow and sleeping on my back now. My healing seems to be going good. Every now and then I'll do something and be like "oh, they did something there to me". Still being careful with bending over a lot as that bothers me. Still wish I could work in the flower beds at home, but that's a lot of bending and moving . Right now the biggest thing is mentally. My goal was 30 pounds in 1 month. I'm at about 20 now. My 1 month is in a week. This stall doesn't help any. I'm sure I should get more calories, but I can't eat any more than I am now. I'm working on getting my water in. Protein isn't a problem with my morning shake and afternoon/evening shake. Trying to get into a routine for walking since that is all I can do right now for exercise. Just scared that this is all I will lose and I will be a failure

    May bypass group!

I gained 12 pounds from being in the hospital. It was all Fluid weight. So it is definitely possible. I lost it within a week. I had to get a memory foam wedge pillow in order to sleep. I couldn't sleep flat. I'm 2 weeks post op and still use the wedge. Mostly because I couldn't sit up by myself. I'm going to try without the wedge and possibly on my side this weekend.

    May bypass group!

Hi there, and welcome! My surgery was on the 16th. How are you feeling? I seem to be getting back to a 'normal' way of life I think... My doctor approved me for pureed/soft foods. The nurse said if I can smash it with a plastic fork, then I can eat it. I like that! I'm not hungry at all, but tiring of the shakes... How are you doing with this all??? I've been moved to the soft food stage. The food part hasn't been bad. I've been eating pretty normal things: chicken, meatloaf, shredded turkey, burger, sausage. Of course only 1/4 cup at each meal. I just make sure it is really moist and I chew it until it's pretty much mush. I've been dealing a lot mentally. Dealing with the head hunger. Sometimes I still feel like I could eat 10x what I did but I know I'm full. Also dealing with feeling useless. It's hard because I'm so independent at home and now I have to rely on my husband. He doesn't mind and has been super great but it bothers me. I still have stomach pains- I have a lump which they said is scar tissues build up. I can't bend much because of this. I'm not supposed to either so it can heal. So that makes it tough. sleeping is crazy. I'm a side sleeper but can't do that yet. I bought a memory foam wedge and lay on my back. It's tough sleeping and I can't wait til I can sleep on my side again. Other than that I feel better every day that goes by. I no longer regret it haha. My first week I cried because of the main and sorrow that I'll never be able to eat my yummy huge meals again. I'm glad I can't! I've been getting less and less hungry. I think it's because I'm finally reeling in the head hunger. I got so tired of some of the shakes. I have to have at least one extra a day for the Protein. What I've done is mixed crystal light with unflavored Protein powder. I use more Water than the protein powder instructions but that's okay. I've gotten used to them now and can have fruit punch and lemondade. So much better than the chocolate, vanilla, etc.

    May bypass group!

May 17th for me!! So glad to see everyone for May!
  10. I had problems too at first. I used a suppository and walked around a little bit and within 5-10 minutes I had to go. The past few days have been good and I have not needed that.

    Soft food phase

I've been on the soft food phase for a few days and I've ate many different things beside those that you listed. I've eaten chicken (not canned but grilled), pork roll, scrambled eggs, shredded turkey, grilled cheeseburger, canned tuna. I'll be trying meatloaf tonight. All of these are very moist and I make sure I chew them really good until they are almost a pureed consistency. I've had no issues with these. Experiment but just make sure you chew good. I ate scrambled eggs the one day and didn't chew it very well and it was painful - even with scrambled eggs.

    Periods post-op.

I also suffer from PCOS except I would never get my period unless I took medication to bring it on. I was about 5 days post op as well when I got mine. It was extremely light as well. I'm really interested to see if it comes on its own again. I was completely shocked I got mine since I do not get them on my own.
