Yes...I have restriction...Now I'm afraid to eat anything solid
malby replied to BlessedTwice's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had 5cc in an 8cc band and could eat almost anything, except in the morning. However, I had another 1cc last week and am now struggling to eat anything at all. I have been able to eat things in the past week so I dont think that I am too tight but today I couldnt even eat a couple of spoonfulls of the middle of a baked potato without pb'ing. I am pb'ing on everything. I dont want to eat mushies or liquids so can you share what you can eat and what you cant. I also see that others on here are saying that if you pb you should go liquid for a day. How many of you do this and why is it necessary? I really need to relearn how to eat with this band. Any advice will be gratefully received. -

My 4 month anniversary is next week and I have lost 28 pounds so far. I have 6cc in an 8cc band. 5cc first and then another 1cc last week. But I am struggling to eat much at the moment as everything comes back up!!! Never mind, maybe I will lose more weight. -
I am so pleased that it is not just me!

I have just had my second fill. I now have 6ml in a 10ml band. Until my fill, I found that it was just willpower as you can really eat anything. Now, I eat about half of a meal before I am full to the brim. Never feel hungry ever. Which is great. I think it is the thought that I have spent all this money and had some pretty drastic surgery that makes me think that I just cant fail this time. However, I am happy to lose the weight slowly but still be able to lead a normal life. I probably have about 1500 calories a day and seem to be losing about half a pound a week, but with no effort. I know that if I punish myself with a very low calorie diet, I will rebel and eat loads so I am happier with this. I had my surgery three months ago now and am just learning how to make myself full and avoid the easy options that go down easy but dont fill you up. It is a hard learning curve but you will get there. After being overweight for a long time, who cares how long it takes to get it off as long as we do. I hope you feel better soon, take care and any questions, just ask.

I have never burped as much as I have since WLS. Really long loud manly burps too. Seems to me that it is after I have eaten when the last of the food is going down, I feel like I could burp for England. I use it as an indicator of how long it takes for the food to pass through the pouch. Only problem is that now I am used to it, i forget that other peole might be offended and sometimes forget to hide it. That is embarrassing!

So well done. The hardest part is when you are with people who dont know that you have been banded. I have only told one other person other than my daughter and I wish i hadnt done that. Persevere and it is amazing how people dont notice how little you are eating. Especially because you are eating much more slowly. Problem I am having at the moment is BBq's. If someone gives me a hamburger, I can only eat half, so I eat it very slowly and then casually ditch the the second half. Noone ever notices!!! It is fab! Keep with it, you will succeed, but my advice is, dont tell anyone. -
Would someone be critisised for using smoking Patches to stop smoking or HRT patches to help with menopause. No, of course they woudlnt, they woudl be applauded for making an effort to change their life. So, why is it that people who have a lap band are ridiculed. I personally only told my 15 year old daughter that I was havign surgery and it was fantastic not to have to listen to anyone elses opinion. I then made the mistake of telling my best friend one night when she caught me pb'ing. What a catastrophe, she didnt understand at all and when, a month later, I had a mini stroke because of a car accident she said ' do you think it is because you had that operation and havnt been eating properly". I was absolutely gutted and felt really let down. I totally agree with Fern that it is a personal decision and she does not need to ask anyones permission. The other argument against her is that she has made money from advertisements for weight loss products but we all know that the band is not a magic wand and that you do have to have some will power and watch what you eat so she wasnt exactly lying was she. Rant over, I just wish people didnt feel the need to critise so easily.

I have just returned from a week long trip to spain (I live in the UK). I had terrible problems eating much for 3 or 4 days after each flight. It felt like I had severe restriction after the flight and could not manage much more than a few mouthfulls. I was PB'ing extremely badly after a couple of mouthfulls when I had not PB'd much at all before that. I wondered if anyone else had experienced this. I am taking a 9 hour flight in August and am thinking of having an unfill before I go purely because it was so unpleasant. On the upside, I didnt put on an ounce of weight!!!

at the end of Feb this year. He was fine, no issues with teh surgery or aftercare. In fact the nurses were absolutely lovely. I had mine done through the Hospital group because I wanted the aftercare service that they offer. I have a face to face or telephone meetign with the dietician every month and I have found that very useful. I had a 5cc fill in April and am having another 1cc put in next week. I have lost 25lb which isnt as massive as some of our US friends but I am happy because it is really not impacting my life that much at all but I am losing about a pound a week. I am sure I could do it more quickly if I starved but, hey, life is too short for that. Hope everything goes well for you. I still believe that it was the best decision I have every made. I wish I had done it 10 years ago!!!

Hi, I had my op with teh hospital group in bromsgrove. It cost me 7K and I have no complaints whatsoever. My care was superb. They also provide aftercare which is not provided with WGA and that is somethign that I particularly wanted. I actually wanted to have to go to Bromsgrove for an appoi ntment. So far I have had one face to face and one telephone appointment with them. I have lost 25lbs with very little effort. It is slow and methodical but I am loving it. For the first time, I really think that this is something that is going to work for me. I have had one fill and am due another in a couple of weeks after I come back from holiday. I thin kI get one more free on after that and then have to pay for them. I thought I would give another side of the story. I dont have any complaints.
