ReadySG - I feel for you. I briefly had a friend who was this side of anorexic and whined about 5 pounds. I found it very insulting and insensitive until a mutual friend explained to me that her thoughts etc were singularly about her. In her mind, my weight issue was completely irrespective of her her her body image. She was/is also incredibly mentally unstable but I digress. If she has been your friend since kindergarten, I would just sit her down and explain to her how her comments make you feel. As psychs explain, begin with "I feel" and not "you do this or that." Then the person feels less like you are attacking. (I could stand to remember these words myself!) Good luck! :-)

That's me!!! Thus the band

Isn't the word "lard"?!?

Sigh....we were having our own fun and seriousness found us. What a bummer. Take your serious kind and skeedaddle!!! Oy. Wasa - do you have stalkers, dear? I need to research what a sleeve is; never heard of that.

SHUT UP!!! We had one of these growing up and I L-O-V-E-D IT! I have no idea what happened to it over the years but I have very fond memories of slush mugs! Now where is my credit card....

Aww Lulac - that is so wrong! Jachut - my brother is currently working in Sydney. I'll have to ask him if he's had either. Knowing him, he's been trying different beers more than chocolates! Skinny farthead.

CHOCOLATE COVERED BACON?!? The perfect mix of sweet, grease, and salt, I presume. <barf>

Holy cow - I responded within the thread before I realized that all had hit the fan.

Why can't people understand sarcasm? ARG I'm with you on the overeating. I had a great upbringing and have no idea what stupid emotions I'm supposed to be stuffing down with food. Annoying!!! I'm going to blame it on the depression and needing the sugar to help my mood!!! (I really do believe this has a hand but I shove the sweets in my face, no one/nothing else.)

I definitely agree about there being skinny, out of shape people! My brother and I are of the same parents and I'm short and dumpy and he's tall and skinny. So unfair!!! We're different blood types - I've always wondered if that makes/made a difference.

A little off topic but regarding what we're paying for...I just noticed on my insurance company's website that my surgeon bill them $300 for just MEETING WITH HIM!!! omg $$

CONGRATULATIONS!!! To me, the pics look like: A heavy, older sister and a slender, younger sister!!!

LOL - google it and you'll see a picture of it. Violet was the favorite color of the creator's wife.

What about a steak smoothie eaten with really greasy tortilla chips (chewed really really well, of course)!?!?!?!?
-
I google'd it - it's a chocolate bar made by Nestle, sold in Australia.

Ewwwww - a tub of butter!!! Gross! Wasa - I'm fed-exing you a birthday cake or two. Fav flavor(s)? Please don't forget the 1M calorie Burger King bkfst monstrosity with 3 large orange juices! That would be tasty in a blender! (I'm pre-surgery so unfortunately I can still eat a lot. Moo)

So sneaky - I love it!

I'm pre-op. I had my nutrition class Thurs and there was a woman who I just knew was going to cheat and/or fail. She didn't know that we couldn't have soda, caffeine, et al, and kept shaking her head and acting negatively. I did mention LBT.com and said that I'd read a lot and had gotten great information. (She's like one of my gf's that just wants a pill.) It's unfortunate but I really do think she's going to have probs with the band but I suppose that her row to hoe, not mine. I hope our "older" LBT'ers aka "skinny bishes" stay around and keep giving the tough love we need! (And yes, I am completely jealous of your new figures!!) As in our regular lives, put the haters on ignore and just be you/y'all! :tt2:

Starting to think I chose the wrong program...
Gracey replied to Sue40's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm going through a "Center Of Excellence" also and did not have all those extra visits. You can see below what I'm being required to do. My experience is when people talk down to you, it's b/c they have their own psych issues and she's trying to make her feel "above" you. However, this is your body and your life; she isn't an OBGYN so she should shut it! Plus, some GB patients have issues with malabsorption so you don't want your child to miss out on nutrients. My experience with LBT is that people are more than happy to talk about their experiences so as the previous poster suggested, look for other local centers of excellence. My two cents. I want a partner in this surgery, not pressure from some dingbat! -
Taking medications with the lap band??
Gracey replied to slinkymalinky's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As a pre-banded person, I am surprised that you still have to be on liquid medication after having lost all the weight you want to lose. Do you have any restriction now? Will you always have to take liquid meds? -
I love this thread! Tyler-now THAT is motivation!! Great job on the retirement additions! I don't know you and am so proud! ^5

What happened to "judge not lest you be judged"? Calling names; esp on this board, is SO rude!!!
