I had such an easy time of considering what I was worrying about! The most "pain" I am in is where I assume my port is (biggest bandage) but it's more sore than real pain. I didn't hit the morpheine much at all - mostly to sleep! My surgery was at 8am-ish and I was in a room alert by 11ish (I think). I remember a nurse coming in around 2pm and was surprised how lucid I was. Oh, back up, the poor woman that tried to do my IV...it's a good thing I'm an empathetic sort b/c I reallyyyyyy wanted to hurt her. I guess after 2 days on liquids I was dehydrated b/c she really had a time finding a vein(?) in my left hand. (Do I really need to be slapped that often?) Then she tried on my left arm which hurt like hell and dug around so much that I almost fainted. Thankfully she got someone to help! I was majorly bitter! So the rest of surgery day was hanging out with my parents and then another gf and her son came to see me. Aww! She brought me a couple humor books and did I tell y'all that my boss send me flowers Wed? (His wife picked out the arrangement; it's gorgeous!) Since my mom + grandmother both have a history of blood clots, I had on compression socks and also this contraption that went around my calves that stimulated circulation. I also got 2 blood thinner shots. Rambling - when I was in pre-op, my nurse kept telling me breathe through my nose b/c I had the oxygen thingers in my nose. I was asked numerous times if I had been diagnosed with sleep apnea. Weird. So they watched my BP, pulse, and oxygen count. It had gotten down to 80 at one point. I brought home some breathing contraption (Voldyne 5000) to help. My triathalon friend stayed the night w/ me so my parents could sleep in a real bed at my house. She had me up and walking the hall. The first walk w/ my dad was very tiring but the other 2 laps were good! So anyway - the doc came to see me around 8:20 and said I was good to go. I finally got sprung around 10:30 i think. I didn't sleep at all yesterday afternoon but slept from noon-6pm today! And I only woke up then b/c my mom woke me up! Gah - 3 more weeks of liquids. I would kill for a cracker right now! I was very happy with the entire hospital staff; they were great! My throat is sore and my voice is hoarse but I'm thrilled with the amount of pain I have! Question: How long does it take for the gas to head to your shoulder? So far, I don't have that yet. I am now officially in the club!

Great post, NFaith!

I agree plus Peter Drucker says that people tell of bad experiences 7x more than good experiences. So I'll bet the OP told people in their real life as well as those of us on LBT! PS - I personally think the Olive Garden is yuk with band or without band!!!

Lulu - Some men just have no sense of humor! I presume hubby is at goal too? You wouldn't think he'd want pizza either! Pizzaaaaaa...:tongue2:
-
And I bet you tell people in your real life how accommodating MG is which gives them positive press! I'm not as adamant as some posters but I believe that, as a restaurant owner, I would rather have $5 from someone ordering from the children's menu than the $0 they ended up receiving from the original poster. And if they were nice about it, I just might tip more than my normal 20%, tyvm! :tongue2:
-
Seriously! Thanks for the ear worm, Lulu! My mom's going to get KFC for her dinner. <insert stomach growl>
-
I'm sorry you feel worse. :tongue2: IMO The Veronicas have seen a little success in America within the college/alternative market.

OMG I thought that the boss would be the last to tell. I couldn't help myself; I know I would have to say something about having told her in confidence. Depending on how you feel about her, I would still go to HR. A big boss that can't keep their mouth shut? Does she tell your competitors secrets, sheesh!

I love makeup tho I haven't worn any since last Tues!!! I've been all about the (eye)glasses, no makeup, and ponytail!!! PS - I really despise Elizabeth Hasselbeck. FYI
-
Oh Karen, I'm really sorry. There's no telling if my group can keep their mouths shut. Here's hoping....
-
It's funny - my mom thinks I'm "brave" giving them up. I keep thinking, what good are they? It's just chemicals!
-
That is hysterical! I did think that you looked a little like Posh but I figured it was the big sunglasses. OMG - I just sneezed. That was not fun!!!
-
I had to quit doing drive-bys b/c of the one poster. She makes me wanna pull my hair out and I've spent a good year growing it out! I'm doing surprisingly well, thanks! I only take meds at night and that's to help me sleep which I have been doing very well, tyvm!!! I'm sleeping at least 12 hours a night! Woohoo! I slept on my left side a little even in the hospital. Not sure how I got so lucky but I'm thrilled!!! I'm shocked that I'm not missing diet Coke more!

I got GNC Nature's Best Isopure Zero Carb liquid that comes in fruity flavors. I haven't tried any yet but at least they're not powder!

Any October Bandsters!??!?!
Gracey replied to SoCalCass's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh Ruby, I hope I didn't scare you. My grandmother and mother have both had blood clots in their leg so that's why I got blood thinners. Do not panic!!! The thoughts I had were: how did I do this to myself? But that's neither here nor there! I'm obese and gotta deal! -
Food?!? Don't mention fooooood!

naz-don't freak yourself out. the worst part for me was the lady getting the IV into my arm! I'm very lucky and have very little pain. you'll do fine!!! -
Bimbabe - you're hungry too, huh?!?
-
I'd be happy with being on mushies!!!
-
Lipstix - girl, we are in the same boat!!! I too was banded on the 16th and am hungry! Are you drinking protein shakes yet? How long are you on liquids?
-
I got a protein bullet to try at Wally World. It looks like a big test tube of liquid. I'm pretty sure the one I got was fruit punch flavored. I can't remember the brand or the amount of protein. I also got some liquid protein at GNC; I must still have anesthesia fog b/c I can't think of that brand either.

 It just sucks b/c I still have hunger! But I'm being a good girl; though it may kill me!!!
