I'm Madeline, a 30-year-old school librarian.  I've struggled with an unhealthy relationship with food for my entire life. In August of 2015, after seeing several friend's reveling in their own wls successes,  I asked my husband, "would you support me if I wanted to have a bariatric surgery?" and he confided he wouldn't. 
 
Zooming forward to February 2016, I was in a dark and ugly place.  I was beginning to feel like a blob, not like a human.  I'd reached the highest I'd ever weighed- 300 lbs.  I began not wanting to hang out with friends.  I was ashamed to talk about "normal" things, like sex, with my smaller friends because I felt like I was torturing them by making them think of someone as fat as me have sex.  In the middle of the night when my head was rambling through horrid thoughts I stumbled upon my surgeon's website.  
 
Now it's 3 weeks (exactly) out from my gastric sleeve and I am so excited.  After months of discussions with my husband and my surgeon I'm in a place I need to be.  I've become obsessed with researching the gastric sleeve!  The most important people in my life have been so, so supportive.
