I know that everyone is different.
kerber replied to Alistmurf's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Place a pillow against you stomach and hold it to splint the area to help with the pain. Just keep taking sips. -
Buy single servings of Protein powders until you find ones that you like. Isopure I don't like. Intex and phormula I like. I also loved the bariatric pal strawberry short cake and I just got a orange cream from them. I have a vanilla one I like from costco too. I have about 8 different flavors so I don't get sick of one kind. Sent from my SM-G800R4 using the BariatricPal App

I was 8 days without and had dumping syndrome from it. My surgeon told me to get some milk of magnesia and to get my bowels moving. You should call your surgeon and ask what they recommend. Sent from my SM-G800R4 using the BariatricPal App

I know am feeling great again. Been 4 weeks since second surgery and have been back to work 2 weeks now. Sent from my SM-G800R4 using the BariatricPal App -

You need to call your bariatric team and tell them you need more meds for gastric reflux. I know how you feel. It will get better and hopefully they will order you some carafate for the acid. -

Sounds like you have gastric reflux. This happened to me too. They added Carafe 30 mins before meals and at bedtime. You need to tell your surgeon or team about you symptoms. Sent from my SM-G800R4 using the BariatricPal App -
Choosing a Protein Powder
kerber replied to missvee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told just to make sure it says isolate Protein powder. I think the worst part of this whole process was the 2 week liquid diet before. Enjoy your last week eating and chewing real food. I had to chew gum because I missed it. You can drink your after surgery shakes on that liquid diet. I had to drink 5 carnation instant sugar free. Breakfast shakes. I liked the vanilla one better. But what saved me was the Bariatric Advantage strawberry shortcake protein powder. Sent from my SM-G800R4 using the BariatricPal App -
Sept 21st RNY diabetic [emoji382]
kerber replied to ilydc's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Myself being a insulin dependant diabetic for 30 years now and also being an RN, I would not be doing these home remedies that you are talking about. You bariatric team will tell you what to do. You,very come this far, don't be messing up your body. The liquid diet before surgery makes lots of changes. I had RNY on 7/26/16. I had gallbladder removal on 9/1/16. I was in the hospital for 7 days with second surgery and NPO for 4.5 days and I was one sick gal. All of my labs were messed up. I even had to drink a phosphorus supplement. Frustrated with protein shakes
kerber replied to lapitcha's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have several kinds of Protein powders. I found a vanilla one in a bag at costco. The strawberry shortcake is good online from Bariatric Advantage. If I were you I would order at least 3 different kinds. I have 5 but I don't get sick of one flavor then. Also reorder when you are about 3/4 gone. Sent from my SM-G800R4 using the BariatricPal App -

Enormous Weight Loss: Just the Tip of the Iceberg.
kerber replied to Cervidae's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Abby that was very well written. You can't change the past and you can't fix stupid. For your peace of mind, block those negative people. There is a meme and I can't find it. But it said it's okay to remove the negative people from your life so that you can enjoy your happiness. Sent from my SM-G800R4 using the BariatricPal App -
I pureed eggs and they tasted awful pureed. I would wait until you can have soft foods. My nutritionist Said to try to add salsa for flavor. I pureed up two rotisserie chickens deboned and deskinned and that saved me. Got some low fat gravy and mashed potatoes. Pureed cottage cheese tastes like plain yogurt. Worst month of my life

Talk with a counselor or schedule an appoint with your psychologist you had for your surgery. Does your work have an employee assistance program? Take one day at a time and if need be file for intermittent FMLA. Sent from my SM-G800R4 using the BariatricPal App -

How long do you need to take the Protein Shakes for

Talk to the surgeon before making a decision on what type of surgery. Gastric bypass takes the diabetes risk away but the sleeve does not. Money for transportation is the least of your worries but don't let that stop you. Your health is worth it. Sent from my SM-G800R4 using the BariatricPal App
