Hey y'all! I'm starting my sleeve journey hopefully by the end of next month (June 2016). I've been overweight the majority of my life and am finally ready to be comfortable in my skin again. I'll be a self pay so everything is moving very quickly for me. I had my initial consult Wednesday, May 25th. During the consultation I learned the differences between the band, the sleeve, and the bypass and opted for the sleeve. I felt the sleeve would be the safest bet for me. I have a blood clotting disorder (Factor 5 Leiden) and had to schedule an appointment with a hematologist to get the all clear for surgery. That appointment is scheduled for June 7th along with my nutrition class. The nutrition class will cover the post op diet along with do's and don't's. Once I get the all clear from the hematologist, it should be smooth sailing. I was told I would be scheduled within one to two weeks after my hematologist appointment. I'm currently at 223 and my goal weight is 140. I'm so ready for this journey! I'll be updating my journal along the way. If you'll be having your surgery near the end of June please let me know so we can support each other! Just for fun, a friend of mine who is a photographer will be doing a before photo shoot in a week and an after photo shoot a year from now. I have also been stocking up on the cutest drinkware I can find in the hopes that if I can make the liquid diet fun it might be easier. I want to make it all as positive as I can. I apologize if I rambled, but I want to be able to look back and remember all the details. I'll be sure to post throughout my procedure and will check in with progress along the way. Much love from Alabama! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

My heartburn has been bad lately! I found out it's from eating too fast and too big of a bite. I'm down 3 pounds since my doctor's appointment Wednesday. The fix? More food! I feel like I'm a little piggy now, but it worked! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

sha_sha_lucas, I am exercising fiercely lol I've slowed down in my weight loss considerably, but am seeing the fat melt away still. I went in today for a check in with the doc and started with 100 pounds of fat down to 76 pounds of fat now. I've lost 30.2 pounds on the scale, now down to 194. I have been drinking my coffee as usual and have had a ton of energy. I built a gym in a building at my house and typically do 5-10 miles on the exercise back 4-5 days a week. I've also been doing strength training. I would suggest more Protein if you want more energy. It was hard to get motivated to start working out, but once I started I became addicted. Good luck! Let me know how you make it!!! I'm pulling for you! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

So, I'm on day four of post op and doing great! I'm down a total of 13.7 pounds at this point and feel great. I have noticed one thing that I didn't expect...my vision seems to have changed. I'm hoping it has to do with the anesthesia not completely wearing off yet, but has anyone else experienced this? I wear contacts and have worn them for 20 years and have never had this problem. I woke up this morning and thought they were back to normal, but they are getting worse as the day progresses. Thoughts? TIA! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I started my Pre-Op diet today. One week until I go under the knife! I'm down a little bit since my bariatric class (from 224 to 221) and hoping to get below 220 by my surgery date. I go for pre-admission day Wednesday. It's beginning to feel real! I'm including a copy of my pre-op diet for anyone who is interested. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I had my nutrition and fitness meeting today, along with my hematologist appointment. I learned so much in the nutritional part of the meeting! I learned what my meal plan will be following surgery and it looks completely doable! Protein protein protein! My hematologist put me on blood thinner permanently but he cleared me for surgery! I'm still set to have my surgery June 27th. I start my pre op diet the 20th and will start updating more then. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Thank you, both! I've been reading every story I come across as well. The ones I've enjoyed the most were the very detailed journals, so I thought one more couldn't hurt. June - July sleevers?
ThatKaylorGirl replied to betterme38's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'll be having mine in June hopefully! It was very quick for me. I am a self pay because my insurance pays 0% of any weight loss surgery. I went in for my consultation Wednesday, May 25th and am scheduled for a nutrition class and a hematologist (I have a rare blood clotting disorder) visit for June 7th and my final appointment (pre-op day) will have to be scheduled one week before surgery. I'm hoping I'll be scheduled for surgery by the end of June. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Where you all from?
ThatKaylorGirl replied to Brandi W's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in Moulton, AL (tiny town!) and having my surgery done in Birmingham. I'm a self pay but wanted to stay in the US. An acquaintance of mine is having hers done in Mexico as a self pay, though. It would be interesting to know the price difference. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
