Getting an unfill Monday and nervous
Rivieramaya05 posted a topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I have a 10CC band with 8.3cc's and I'm really having a hard time eating anything. I think I'm overfilled as it is but couple that with being 9 wks pregnant and I'm pretty miserable. So here is the problem. I'm already thinking about and getting excited about all the wonderful foods I can eat when I unfilled. I'm so affraid of gaining. The plan was to have 4.3cc's removed. I don't remember feeling any difference between completely unfilled and 4cc's. Anything over that, it was painful to eat. After reading a lot of posts on here I see a lot of women get a total unfill. Now I don't know which to do. Total unfill or leave in 4 cc's. I do not want to have multiple unfills. I live 2 hrs from my doctor and can't really afford to keep going back. Advice? -
Would I know it if my port flipped?
Rivieramaya05 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was doing an ab workout today on a pilates ball and felt a sharp pain when I did a sit up. The first thing I thought was " I hope that wasn't a anchor coming loose. (I have a realize band) Anyways, I'm still sore but not really hurting. I assume I'm sore because it's a new workout and those muscles aren't used to being used. Would I be able to feel or tell if my port flipped? I would think I would be in more pain. -
I just started some new fitness classes to try to motivate myself more. Among the classes are pilates and a core strengthening class. My surgery was last July and I've had no issues with my port but I want to make sure it's safe. I have an email into my surgeons office but they are slow so I am looking for opinions here. I tried the pilates class yesterday and today my abs are killing me because I'm not used to working them. My port area is kinda sore but I assume it's because I am using that muscle. TIA

No loss for a band too tight...why?
Rivieramaya05 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't lost any weight in 3 months. I remember looking at the adjustment chart in my DR's office and one sign that your band is too tight is that you stop losing weight. Why is that? -
I got a fill on Friday of last week and I'm still trying to get used to what I am feeling. HELP! I can't tell if what I am feeling is restriction or if I am full. I still feel hungry but I almost have a feeling that something is stuck...but it's not painful at all just annoying. almost like a lump at the bottom of my throat.

surgeon gave little hope for weight loss w/lb
Rivieramaya05 replied to plh2u's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I started at 324 and have lost 45 lbs in 4 months. I haven't even gotten restriction yet. Why in the world did our Dr say only 30 lbs? I'd find a new doctor. If he isn't supportive before surgery, he surely won't be when you need him after surgery. -
HOw do you know when you have restriction? I have a fill scheduled for tomorrow but I am curious what you all think. Here is the deal. I had surgery at the beginning of July. I have yet to feel full or that slightly tight feeling in my chest that I have heard about. I really really try hard to stop eating after 1 cup of food because I am afraid of hurting my band. After my last fill, eating food that I knew may be difficult became impossible (like breads and eggs). I'm ok with that. I'm just confused about what I am feeling. If I don't chew enough, whatever I eat immediatly drops into the opening from my pouch to my lower stomach and gets stuck. I can feel when it passes through moments later. It's very painful. I'm really not sure if I need another fill or not. Like I said, I have yet to ever feel full and I am hungry ALL the time. I also am not losing much weight and it's been like that for 3 months now (even though I eat all the right things and am working out 5 times a week). Aren't I supposed to feel full?

Hair LOSS! Yikes, I'm over a year post op...
Rivieramaya05 replied to Crummy78's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Mine recently started falling out. It's scary but I started taking biotin like the PP suggested. I take a 5mg capsule once a day. I found it at Earth Fare. -
I could have posted this myself! I feel the same way. Like there is no pouch. I guess it's like what people said. You need to find your sweet spot. Trust me, I'm on my 5th fill in a 10CC band and I'm up to 7.6 CC's...how much further away could I possibly be!

Yes. like I said I am eating all the right things meaning correct calories, fat, protein and carbs.

I'm at the end of my rope
Rivieramaya05 replied to Rivieramaya05's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My clothing is exactly the same. -
I'm almost 3 months post op and have only lost 9lbs since surgery. I've had 2 fills and am scheduled to get my 3rd tomorrow. Even without proper restriction I am still counting calories and working out at least 5 times a week. What is wrong with me? Why can I not lose anything? The longer time passes the harder it's been to maintain eating right, especially when I'm seeing zero payoff.

I'm at the end of my rope
Rivieramaya05 replied to Rivieramaya05's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm doing a 40 minute interval workout. I switch back and forth between 2 different routines. I bought a watch that actually counts calories by keeping track or your heart rate. I burn at least 400 per workout. -

Rivieramaya05 replied to Rivieramaya05's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've asked. He just says I need restriction. I don't have any other medical issues and I'm not eating "easy" foods. I'm eating normal everyday things. I log everything I eat I know exactly where I am yet I'm not losing. I'm 5' 8 I was consuming between 600-900 calories daily for the first 1.5 months and of course lost nothing so I upped my calories and still nothing. -

yes, I am eating enough. I'm between 1500 and 1200 cal a day. My doc recommends 1200. -
I'm really annoyed. I'm almost 2 weeks post op. Still on an all liquid diet and I have stopped losing weight. What am I doing wrong. I've kept my calories under 1000, my carbs and fats are low too. It's not like I could possibly eat less. I'm so frustrated. What am I doing wrong?

What is wrong with me?
Rivieramaya05 replied to Rivieramaya05's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
for sure. I guess I just have to keep doing what I'm doing no matter what. Maybe put the scale away for a week -
For recent bandsters...
Rivieramaya05 replied to missrach's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm having not issues getting Protein in. K2O waters are great for this, also try unflavored Protein Powder and add it into everything you consume. I'll probably get flamed for this but I'm drinking normally. I have no resriction. I was very careful to sip the first week but we getting really dehydrated. If I am drinking Water, I don't sip. If I'm eating anything thicker I am more slow and careful. -

Rivieramaya05 replied to Rivieramaya05's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't lose 23lbs in 2 weeks. I did lose it all in the past month. I've been on a liquid 1000 cal a day diet since July 23. I'm aware it's all about healing right now. I'm following my post op diet so it's not like I'm trying to force something I'm not ready for. I'm only worried if I'm not losing weight, I'll be losing motivation. -
Thinking hard about this.....
Rivieramaya05 replied to Jennywren93's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
it sounds like you already know you want to do it. You'll want to do it more after your seminar. I'm only 2 weeks post surgery but so far I'm glad I did it. Im determined not to go throught life like my mom did.I'm also determined not to have my child suffer the same fate. This was a matter of life and death for me, because down the road if I didn't do something now, it was going to kill me. I decided my life was more important than food. -
A week ago today I was banded. I'm so discouraged and have no idea why. I want so much to be losing weight faster. I've only lost 6 lbs this week. ONLY. See what I mean? I'm crazy. 6 lbs is great! Why can't I feel like it's great? I feel like I'm not doing enought. I tried a gentle walk on the treadmill today but I got through 8 min and my port site hurt so I stopped. I feel like I'm eating too much even though I'm keeping it under 1000 cal and am always hungry. Anyone have any advice for me?

Please cheer me up
Rivieramaya05 replied to Rivieramaya05's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I usually do a soy milk/protein powder shake in the morning, and EAS shake for lunch and some sort of soup for dinner. I also drink 2 k20 Protein waters and 2 sugar free popsicles. I don't usually hit 1000 but it's not because I can't. I wasn't put on clear liquids accept for the day after surgery. -
Were you starving after being banded??
Rivieramaya05 replied to MyMeshelle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on July 9th and am starving most of the time. I'm on full liquids for another week. I'm doing my best to just work through it and deal. What other option is there?
