I am 42 and have struggled with my weight most of my life. I became really overweight in my late 20's after my son was born. My weight has fluctuated between 140ish and my highest and current 238.6. I have just started my journey today (5/31/16) by attending my surgeon's information session. He told me that I am a good candidate for the RNY surgery. I have to have 3 months supervised by dietician before surgery can be approved as well as a psych eval. My surgeon also wants X-rays to check for hernia and and endoscopy....fun, fun, fun! I am so excited that I found BP. I am all about research and helping each other out so I'm sure I'll get a lot from this site.
I am married to my best friend...I know a lot of people say that but he truly is my best friend. We have been through so much together and have never given up on each other. He is semi-supportive at this stage of the game. I don't think that he thinks I would end up going through with it. I have a 16 year old son, Cody, who is super supportive of the surgery. He is overweight too and I hope that this gives him the motivation to try and lose some weight. A huge part of me thinks that when he gets older he may have it done too. I also have 3 stepsons, 13, 16 and 18. None of them know about the surgery yet. I'll tell them as I get closer to the date.
I am a nurse but I injured myself on the job in June of 2013 and haven't worked since. I am still currently out on Worker's Comp because despite two back surgeries I still have daily pain. I hope that my RNY surgery helps with my back pain and that I can return to work. For a little extra income I sell H2O at Home which is a direct sales company that specializes in all-natural, non-toxic cleaning products. If anyone happens to read this and would like more info just message me...I'd be happy to share!
