My BMI now is 38.8. I hate that the surgeons office won't submit for an authorization from AEtna until after I have done everything because aetna will tell me nothing so I will like I am running in circles.

I went to the nutritionist for first time in june. Then 31 days later I went back and the scale said I was 3 lbs higher. I will have to check and see if the office allows are the phone visits. It says documented exercise... Who is supposed to document that???? I also asked several times how many nutritionist visits I needed and could never get a straight answer... This is what I found online: Nutrition and exercise program(s) must be for a cumulative total of 6 months (180 days) or longer in duration and occur within 2 years prior to surgery, with participation in one program of at least 3 consecutive months. (Precertification may be made prior to completion of nutrition and exercise program as long as a cumulative of 6 months participation in nutrition and exercise program(s) will be completed prior to the date of surgery.)

Thank you! but do I need to be less than the date I first started the diet or when I first went to the surgeon and atsrted this whole process?

It says something about me needing to have taken a blood pressure RX that is a combination drug (3 in1) and for it not to work. I have tried for over 10 years to keep the excess weight off with no success so I am praying things work out for me.

I have aetna and I went to my first surgeon office visit today. I have been to the dr for the past 2 years with high blood pressure and unsuccessful diet. My husband said I snore like a dragon but I am not sure if I have sleep apnea. The surgeon just put me on a High blood pressure RX today. My BMI is 37. I have been to DR a lot about my weight but I am not sure if it's been the required 4 months in a row I am nervous about getting approved... This is the part that worries me: BMI greater than 35 in conjunction with any of the following severe comorbidities: Medically refractory hypertension (blood pressure greater than 140 mm Hg systolic and/or 90 mm Hg diastolic despite concurrent use of 3 anti-hypertensive agents of different classes); or Can anyone share their experience with aetna... please and thank you

So... I just went to the surgeon's office today for my first visit. I have had recorded high blood pressure for over 2 years and have been dieting with exercise with steady fluctuating weight. The surgeon put me on a rx for HB today. WIth aetna I was told I need 4 months of documented, consecutive, supervised diet. I am so nervous about getting approved. I am 5'7- 1/2 and weight 242 with a BMI of 37. My husband says I snore like a dragon but I am not sure if I have sleep apnea. I am 33 will be 34 in July...... So I guess I want to know if anyone with similar circumstances and aetna insurance was able to get approved... what did they make you go through and how long did it take..
