    No family support

The revision was done for medical reasons. I did not fail with the sleeve, the acid reflux was severe and medications were no longer helping. I ate healthy with the sleeve even when we went out to eat. I eat healthy now, it's just the amount that I eat. Two bites and I am pretty much full. I usually order water which I know I won't drink with my meal or order my drink in a to go cup that I can drink later after my food has had time to digest. I am sticking to eating healthy. I stay away from all the bad foods. It's the negative comments that are hurtful. Good thing I don't turn to food for comfort.

Yes you’re right. We should seek counseling before things get to a point we both don’t want to be in.

It’s usually sit down restaurants we go to. I’ve ordered the soups, the protein ala cart, or eat a few of the appetizers. He went as far as told his friends we were out eating dinner with that I hate food and they looked at me as if I have an eating disorder. He has always told me he liked heavy women and when we are out together he doesn’t hide when he stares at other women. I’m happy with myself and the new me and that’s all that matters.
  4. I had my revision surgery on May 22, 2018 from sleeve to bypass. It has been very difficult regarding food intake. I am not hungry and eat only when hungry. I stay away from all the bad food but my spouse is not supportive. Prior to surgery we went out to eat on a regular basis. He still wants us to continue to go out to eat and expects me to eat the way I used to prior to the surgery. He gets upset when I tell him I am not hungry or order something small. I sometimes just ask for an extra plate and eat off his plate but he ends up serving me a large amount off his plate. He always makes hurtful comments regarding my food intake. I remind myself that I did the initial surgery for myself and for health reasons. This revision surgery was done for medical reasons and he does not seem to understand that. He eats unhealthy foods and likes to go to restaurants where I really don't care to eat in. I don't know what to do anymore. I don't want to hurt myself and be back where I was before.

    Regrets

I felt the same way also. Remember the reasons for having the surgery in the first place. I've had all three surgeries meaning I've had the band, sleeve, and now gastric bypass. The healing process was easier but the food intake was still just as hard especially when you are cooking meals for the rest of the family that you know you may not be able to eat or have difficulty eating. I am three months post-op gastric bypass and I find that the only time I want or crave food is when someone around me is eating something I enjoyed eating prior to the surgery. Sometimes just a tiny bite is enough to satisfy the craving. When I go out to eat with co-workers, I tend to order something small or soup and when they ask if that's all I'm having I usually say I'm not that hungry, which is true. When I go out to eat with my family, I eat off my family member's plate because they know a few bites will fill me up. Try not to focus on the foods you used to enjoy and focus on the healthier you. Don't view eating as a chore, eat when your hungry which after awhile becomes less often when you focus on other things besides food. I also try not do get on the scale very often. The loose fitting clothing and the increased amount of energy is what keeps me going. For me, weighing myself every so often and seeing a higher number of pounds lost than a pound every few days is much more encouraging and rewarding. Every one is different and eventually you will find what works best for you.

    WHY?

I wanted the RNY from the beginning but was told that it was irreversible and the band was. I chose the band which was a big mistake. When I had the revision to remove the band I once again wanted the RNY. Again I was told the sleeve was effective with less complications. A year later I was suffering from bile reflux and ultimately ended up getting the RNY which I originally wanted 9 years ago.

Ab muscle spasms week after RNY?

I had the cramp also as well and my surgeon said that it was the largest incision because it was the one where the camera was placed so he had to put extra sutures. It was hard to sleep on that side. I did a lot of walking the first week post-op and I never really noticed when the cramping went away.
  8. My surgery was May 21 for medical reasons as well. I started at 212 and I’m down to 190. I wouldn’t say things are going slow. Any loss is still good. My eating habits have definitely changed and I don’t feel hungry. My problem is trying to get the amount of fluids in. I focus on protein first but waiting after eating to start drinking any fluid is hard. Sometimes I have to wait almost 2 hours before my stomach can tolerate any fluids.
  9. I had revision from VSG to bypass on May 22 due to severe GERD. I felt mild GERD maybe once or twice within the first 10 days post op. My surgeon told me to take Omeprazole for three months and then stop. I have not had any GERD since starting the medication. I hope you find relief for your GERD soon. I know the pain can be unbearable.
  10. My surgeon advanced my diet to soft mushies on day 10 post op. He also told me that after one month I have no restrictions which was surprising to me. I had a revision from sleeve to bypass on 5/22/2018 and I pretty much feel back to normal. I have to remind myself that my stomach is still healing and I can't eat certain things. The good thing is that I do not feel hungry at all. When I was sleeved I often felt hungry, plus I always had small snacks due to the severe reflux. I found that when I had something small in my stomach the reflux was not as severe. Well I have been reflux and pain free since surgery and as I mentioned, I am not hungry.
  11. I had my revision from sleeve to bypass on May 22 due to severe GERD. It seems that I've been reading people having revision 2 years post sleeve. I was originally banded in April 2009 then had revision from band to sleeve in April 2016 and now revision from sleeve to bypass last week. I wish I had skipped the sleeve and just gone straight to bypass and I would've avoided all the pain I had with GERD and I would not have had to get a third surgery. I must say that I feel great and no longer have GERD. My recovery has gone much smoother, meaning that I was back at work after one week. I asked my surgeon at my one week follow up if he actually did anything because I feel pretty good and am pretty much back to normal. I know is still have to take it easy for another four weeks but after that he said I had no restrictions.
  12. I had my sleeve to bypass revision on 5/22. I was sore the first few days but I was also up and walking. Thanks to my husband for getting me out of the house and walking. I have a desk job and was able to return to work a week after surgery. I have lots of energy but still try to limit what I do because I don’t want to hurt myself since I’m still healing. I haven’t been hungry or craving food even when I make dinner for the family I’m not tempted to taste it. I have been getting my fluids in. I find that sugar free jello does not agree with me. Nor does the sugar free popsicles. I’m hoping the surgeon advances my diet tomorrow because I feel I’m ready to start trying new flavors.
  13. I agree with everyone's comments. I had surgery on 5/22/18 and was released the next day. I had a revision from sleeve to bypass. Although I had some minor discomfort I forced myself to get up and walk. Just standing at the sink brushing my teeth was uncomfortable. I have a desk job and therefore only took one week off of work. I am back at work today and so far I feel okay. A little discomfort from sitting for long periods of times so I make a point to get up and walk around often. I would check with your surgeon and get cleared prior to return to school. I had restrictions regarding bending, lifting, and twisting. Hope everything goes well and best of luck.

    I got a date

I start my liquid diet today. I’m also scheduled for May 29.

Just got revision from sleeve to bypass!

I also went through TrueResults but luckily I was able to continue with the same surgeon who did my original weight loss surgery. I was banded in 2009, then converted to sleeve in 2016, I’ve been suffering with GERD for the past several months. The next option would be gastric bypass. I’m a little hesitant but with the pain from the GERD I’m seriously considering the surgery. The pain gets so bad that I literally lay in bed in crying from the pain. The meds are no longer helping me and I was told that I have bile reflux that’s causing the pain. [emoji15]
