I don't chew gum, the gas is unbelievable. If I need a little "refresher", I'll chew for a second or two, then spit it out. As a whole, gum isn't in my life anymore.
It is unbelievable...I've never felt like that before!!!
Thanks for reply

I'm a year out from surgery & can say I have honestly not had any problems post op. I have been using straws without a problem & don't remember being told not to chew gum. I do think tho it's the amount of gum I'm chewing. I will just eliminate gum completely. I started thinking was seriously wrong with my stomach so it's kinda a relief to know it's from excessive gum chewing. Thanks for the reply!!

Has anyone had stomach issues from chewing gum? sugar free gum of coarse. I will admit I have been chewing quite a bit of gum for the past month or so (Probable a Pack + a day). I have been experiencing extreme bloating/gas & loose stool for about a month. I originally thought maybe it was my vitamins/calcium or food but eliminating things from my diet & putting Vitamins on hold for a week with no improvement in my stomach has helped me come to the realization that it may be the gum. Duh!
Just wondering if any fellow sleevers have experienced this problem. (My stomach rumbles & gurgles all day long with unbelievable bloat & gas) tmi.. I'm sure

It means non-scale victory.. for example 1 of my nsv was being able to cross my legs again! Take the time to appreciate those things

Stalls are very frustrating but I don't give them power over me & my healthy decisions. I know we want instant results (myself included) but we didn't get in the situation that lead us to our sleeve journey over night & we will not get out of it over night. Surgery is a wonderful tool to get us to goal but it's not magic. What's worked for me is not obsessing about the scale & the number but rather the way my clothes keep getting smaller & nsv which are also gratifying. Take the time to recognize them & Celebrate them. I get on the scale 2xs/wk to check in but when I'm in a stall I just keep doing what I'm doing & eventually it will show on the scale. My focus is always Protein & I think a protein rich diet changes my body shape/inches & the scale WILL catch up. (FYI.. I'm 9 mos out & 100 lbs lighter). Stalls are common.. don't let that deter you or get you down.. keep making healthy decisions & you will be successful in your journey. Best of luck to you!!

Hit a big milestone today...I'm 9 months post-op & lost 100 lbs! So happy for myself though Still working towards goal. Couldn't be happier with my results & my decision to take this step towards a happier-healthier life. My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner! I have wonderful support system and for that I'm so grateful. It's funny tho certain people (mostly co-workers) have not commented or asked me 1 question since surgery 9 months ago (which I was open about from the get go). I'm not sure what to make of that but truthfully my family & my "true" friends opinions are what matter to me. I feel like an ugly/angry weight has been lifted from my shoulders which left me feeling lighthearted & happy!

I also have a desk job. I had my surgery on a tues & went back to work the following Thursday for 7 hrs & then Friday for 1/2 day & then off sat & sun & back at it full time the following Monday. I must say It was nice easing back into things (going back 2 days part time & then 2 days off). You will get tired easily & have low energy level (at least I did). I have had no complications & couldn't be happier with my decision. I'm 11 weeks post op & have lost 53 lbs from surgery to date.
Best of luck to you!!

I have used them & they hole will match up wherever you put it on your pants. It is similar to an earring & doesn't poke me at all. It has never come undone on me because you have to squeeze the back to remove it. Only problem is there can be some bunching of your jeans for example. But I find wear very short shifts so that is not a problem at all.

I agree.. genpro is great! I mix it with iced coffee & cottage cheese. I usually mix 1/2 tbsp (15 grams) with both. Really mixes nicely. I ordered it online

Hi.. I'm 10 1/2 weeks post-op & I have hit a milestone this week 50 lbs lost from 1 week pre-op til today. I feel great! Energy level is better than has been in a long time. I hit my Protein target daily (70-90 grams) honestly tho I have difficulty reaching my Water goal (64 0z)
I'm working on that.
I have not been shopping post op, as I have several sizes to choose from in my closet (like most of us). However, I use the PERFECT button on my pants. Prior to surgery i used them to give me a bit of extra room in my tight pants now I use them to make my loose (in the belly) pants fit better. I ordered them online but have seen them in the "as seen on tv" section of stores such as cvs. I think the PERFECT button would be useful to many of you & just wanted to share. ($10 for a pack of 5 I think)

I made a pureed buffalo chicken (almost like a dip) & ate that a lot during that phase. High in Protein low in fat & carbs. I used either chicken breast or canned premium chicken breast (like tuna), buffalo sauce, blue cheese, & hidden valley light ranch. Puree all of the above together. Yum! Good luck to you

Thanks for the info.. That was informative! I use Splenda/sweet n' low in my coffee & unsweetened ice tea & I don't drink soda. So i guess I should be ok with the caffeine then. You are 3 years out? How is life post vsg? Would you mind sharing your stats with me?

Hi, I'm 6 weeks post op (35 lbs lighter) & just this week had my first Decaf coffee. I'd much rather have regular coffee but I'm not sure why I was instructed decaf coffee & tea only. I was a regular coffee & unsweetened brewed iced tea drinker prior to vsg but I'm afraid I'll sabotage myself if I resume drinking them. I'm having a terrible time with Water (tastes gross post op) & think if I could drink an unsweetened iced tea or 2 I'd meet my Fluid goal easier. Any advise?

Hi.. I'm currently on pureed & some of the foods I've tried so far are: buffalo chicken purée, refried Beans (added a bit of cheese), 1 scrambled egg, baby food meat, Baby food fruit (pineapple/pear) if I need something a bit sweet. I also made the ricotta thing (ricotta, tom sauce, Mozzarella cheese heated in microwave for 20 seconds. That was the insides of a lasagna.. Pretty good! Hope I gave you some options. Best of luck to you. Oh also, be sure to eat super slow because full liquids & pureed foods are quite different (full so much quicker from pureed).

Hi.. I had my vsg on 6/28 & I'm recuperating quite nicely. I was concerned during the full liquid stage because I was hungry quickly after eating. However, I got reassurance after reading your responses to other people that purée stage would be different. Now I'm currently on the puree stage & finally feel satisfied after eating & can go a couple hours without being hungry. It's just that I'm wondering how many calories I should be taking in at this point. I'm not having a problem with Protein. I'm eating all Protein rich/low carb pureed foods (2-3 oz) & Im still drinking 2 premier Protein shakes a day. Getting approx 80 grams protein a day. Calories today were 700. Is that too much?? What should I be aiming for calorie-wise.

Hi.. I'm 2 days post op. Came home yesterday & I'm Having low back pain. I think it's from sleeping on my back. I'm normally a side sleeper. Are we allowed to sleep on our sides this early out? (My concern is the pressure on my new stomach). I should have asked dr but during discharge I got distracted & forgot.
Also on another note.. Everytime I take a sip of Water or take a spoonful of broth/jello I get uncomfortable feeling right after (gas/burp/pain) does this go away & when? I feel hungry but can't really eat.

Thank you so much! Your words of wisdom help put things in perspective! This is a journey not a diet & I'm more than ready for a lifestyle change. At this weight I'm unable to be the person I strive to be, mentally & physically. I'm uncomfortable all the time!
You're right I got this! ????

Hi.. I'm scheduled for vsg at the end of June & I realized as excited as I am there's also a part of me Thats afraid of failing. I've lost weight before 107 lbs to be exact (weight watchers) & Kept it off for 6 years. The weight started creeping back on over the last 3 years & Now that I'm (41) & 10 years older I feel like my body is fighting against my attempts to lose weight. Which is what lead me on this journey. I know how great it feels to lose & maintain the weight loss & how terrible it feels to re-gain all of that weight & more. Im not trying to be a deby-downer.. this is a real fear of mine. I read all these success stories & am very hopeful but on the other hand A part of me can't help but think What if I'm one of the few people that aren't successful after vsg surgery. Anybody else feel this way?

Hi.. I'm so excited to be scheduled for my sleeve on 6/28. I'm just looking to get some info on what to expect day 1 & 2 post-op. I realize everyone's story will vary based on the individual but I'm reading & gathering as much insight as possible. Thanks!
