Hi Triplethreat! I am a school counselor and started back with kids Aug. 1. I was sleeved July 12 also. My biggest challenge is hydration. I try to keep the cup either in my hand or very close, even when presenting lessons. I have done fairly well but it takes constant thought and diligence. The other thing is energy. It seems I am exhausted by about 2-2:30. The first few weeks are always high energy and very demanding at my schools (I travel among 2 schools, 1200:1 Counselor ratio). I feel like I just need a nap! I hit a stall about two weeks ago and it's still there. But I can still tell I am losing in my clothes. Inches instead of pounds, I guess. Good luck on your first week back with kids! Eating restrictions after surgery does it get an easier to swallow and get food down?
reddy4chng replied to sondyissleeved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a similar problem and discovered it was partially due to citric acid. I can't tolerate it post surgery. It is in Powerade Zero, Vitamin Water, and many other sugar free drinks. It is also in the drink additives such as MIO and Crystal Light. It took a few days but it began to resolve and I am doing much better. I am 4 weeks out and as long as I chew all foods well I am fine. Also, be sure you are chewing everything to liquid stage. Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App -

I have lost 40 pounds. 24 of that was pre-op and 16 post op. It seems like I should be losing faster considering what I am eating. I just keep telling myself that it didn't come on overnight, it isn't coming off overnight either. I am seeing the difference in clothes. I am down from a tight 24 or 26 to 20/22. I will take the inches over scales! I just wish I could pick where it comes off. :-) Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App -

I have been doing pretty well on the week 4 diet. I have been able to eat soft Protein like moist chicken, cheese, etc. Next week I can add soft cooked vegetables along with the protein. I'm actually looking forward to a green bean, but I will probably only be able to eat one! I manage 2-3 oz. of food at each meal. How much can everyone else eat? My wedding ring is too loose and I'm afraid I will lose it. I don't like not wearing anything. My husband suggested a temporary wedding band so I could wait until I get to goal weigh to have it resized. We went to James Avery. They have sterling silver wedding bands and they look nice. I found one for only $49. Plus, they allow you to trade-in for half off. So, as I continue to lose I can trade this one in for only $25 until I hit goal weight. Anyone else have the same problem?

I had surgery 7/12, and just started on the puree stage yesterday. Greek Yogurt is on my list to eat, and I ate it for Breakfast frequently before surgery so I decided to give it a try. I got about 3-4 very small bites down (even waiting between) and realized I had made a HUGE mistake. My stomach started rumbling and rebelling. I just stopped there and after a little while continued on fluids. I didn't try to push it further. It settled down after about 30 minutes but was still a little uneasy. lunch time came around and I had some pureed chicken salad. I tried that and it didn't settle either. All day I had to push the Fluid down to get enough liquid. Each sip seemed like I was pushing it down. It was absolutely the worst I have felt since surgery. Tonight I managed some mushed up cottage cheese and it seemed to sit well and do okay but I'm just sore from the day's adventures. This is a very stressful time at work so I'm not sure if that might be what is going on, or if I'm just eating the wrong foods. Both foods were on the okay list. I really don't want to mess this up so I have been nervous all day long in fear I had done something wrong. That combined with the stress of work made for a very yucky day. I felt horrible and exhausted. I hope this will pass, but honestly today was the first day I have questioned "what the H** did I do?"

I have lost 14 pounds since 7/12. But since I started eating puree foods it has slowed down. At first I was losing about a pound a day. Now it is a lot less Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App -

I was warned the same, and also warned to not exercise or spend a lot of time in the heat. I was told I can do walking in air conditioning, as long as it isn't enough to sweat. Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App -

The fluids weren't a problem until I returned to work. It is so hard to work and remember to drink! I have managed at least 64 oz a day, but at home I was doing more. I kept something in my hand and sipped all the time. That's tough and still get work done! -

Thanks KristenLe. I will try to go back and let everything heal and settle down, then try again. I do get the weekend off, I just need to leave work at work! -
Anyone have to deal with Pancreatitis
reddy4chng replied to dede_mont's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Could your surgeon refer you to an endocrinologist that has experience with bariatric patients? Perhaps a specialist in managing diabetes and pancreatic issues would help. Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App -
Any 7/14's- post op?
reddy4chng replied to reducer623's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved 7/12, so tomorrow will be two weeks. I have been doing well getting in the liquids, but I can only do about 4 oz of a Protein shake and I'm done. Then it is a little while before I feel like I can drink again because I'm full. Total protein intake is around 30 grams. I still have low energy. I can walk around but seem to tire easily. I tried light housework today and had to take a lot of breaks. I've lost about 12 pounds since surgery. It has been about a pound a day. But...it isn't in my stomach. When I left the hospital I was so bloated from gas I couldn't button or zip the loose pants I wore to the hospital. I can't really tell any weight loss around my middle, but I can at least button the pants now. Tomorrow will start puree foods. Yippee! I'm hoping that will increase energy. -
Getting sleeved July 12

I'm not hungry. I feel fine. I am healing well. Different docs have different methods. Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App

Cindyw41, thanks, but that isn't my doctors orders. Protein doesn't count toward liquid and isn't mandatory, for now. I think I will go with what they have told me. I start actual protein next week. Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App

I can barely get one Protein supplement down a day, and that's if I do half in the morning and half late afternoon. I'm drinking about 96 oz. Of Water, as ordered by the doc, and that doesn't leave much room for anything else. How are people getting so much protein down at one week out? I guess different docs have different orders. I only do the protein if I'm feeling weak. I seem to be doing fine on about one a day, so far. Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App

Getting sleeved July 12
reddy4chng replied to ehedary's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today was the first day I have been fever free! I have had a low grade fever each day since Thursday. I am getting at least 96 ounces of liquid each day. Doctor's orders are that comes first, Protein supplements only if needed when I get weak. At first it was very difficult to get that much liquid down. Since yesterday it has started getting much easier. It takes about 30-45 minutes for 16 oz. of liquid as long as it is room temperature or warm. I have difficulty with cold drinks. I can take much larger sips without pain. I have tried a couple of the protein supplements and I can only get down about half or less. I am doing some I purchased through the surgeon. It makes about 8 ounces and I'm lucky to be able to get 4 down. I found if I do protein supplement it is much more difficult to get the liquid down so I haven't pushed it. 48 ounces or more of the liquid is supposed to come from an electrolyte drink, such as Powerade Zero. I'm very tired of sweet stuff! I have been able to sleep on either side since the beginning, but the right side is more comfortable. The left side doesn't hurt but I can feel the incisions. I guess I'm very lucky in that regard! -

How is everyone else today? I am starting to be able to drink without feeling that "rock" bosslady3 described so well. It is there if I try to take too large a sip but it is definitely getting better. I am running a low grade fever though. It comes down with Tylenol, but still makes me feel tired.
