April 2006 Bandits January Challenge
Ceparano replied to JulieNYC's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks Bluehill, sometimes it's so frustrating for me when everyone else seems to be zooming along and I'm struggling to keep up. This is a horrible month for me because the scale will just not move!! I've put in more workouts and still nothing... I hope next month will be better. Roberta -

Geez Kat, I didn't know we had the same issues. I also tore my meniscus in my right knee, and had surgery. The arthritis is so bad in my knee that the surgery didn't put me back to "normal". Too much walking or certain exercises that require a lot of knee bending will cause pain and my knee to swell .I understand completely how that simple fall has impacted your daily life. As far as the exercise is concerned, you can only do what you can do. Hang in there. Roberta -

I think I'm over cautious because I've had to have knee surgery due to repeated falls. I'd check with the runners in our group. I'd stick to walking for at least a day and then try a run. I'm sure your fellow runners will have better ideas. -

Dawn, are you experiencing any swelling? Are you able to bend your knee without pain? Are you having any pain with stair climbing or walking? If it's no to all, then I would try and give the knee a break from running for at least a couple of days. Sorry....hopefully it's a minor set back. You still rock in my book! Roberta -

For me, the difficulty has been the days, rather than the time. I would rather increase the days gradually as per Bluehill's post. I am willing to go along with whatever the majority wants and I'll just do my best to keep up. Julie: I don't see how you could pass up such a great opportunity..go for it!! I'm bummed...the scale has not moved this month. I'm wondering if it's due to my falling behind in my water intake. If been drinking a lot of green tea at least 64oz and maybe I need to include more water. Today I've started drinking more water and less green tea. Arizona makes a no carb green tea that is a combination of apple and white cranberry....I'm addicted to it. It is delicious! Kat: I'm glad your finally seeing some movement on the scale. Roberta -

Bluehill....14/16 pants are truly a NSV. How in the world did you keep those 22/24's up????? Just got back from belly dancing....55 mins. workout. I'm starting to get congested so I know the weather is changing. Tomorrow evening the temp. is going to start to drop with a possibility of snow; and Friday with the wind chill it will be minus 5 on Long Island. Roberta -

Good morning everyone, just a few rumblings in my tummy this morning so that's a good sign. My head is a bit stuffy and my chest hurts a little so I don't think it's the flu. I hope to get to my belly dancing class tonight if the runs have stopped. Congratulations Boo, what a great NSV!! Betty have a great time! Roberta -

Ladies...I'm just back from the tests I mentioned in my earlier post. I had a rude awakening on my bone density test. I hadn't had one done in many years so there wasn't anything to compare it to. I didn't have a good report. I'm on the verge of Osteoporosis in my spine. I have a 22% bone LOSS! The doctor says this is very common for people who have had rapid weight loss. I now have to see my PC for prescription meds for this. Everyone, ....please look into this and make sure that you are not developing problems. Roberta -

Kat, I can only imagine that your heart almost stopped! Thank God you were there with him. You painted such a beautiful picture of your family outing. I'm so glad Rick is alright. Betty, I made turkey chili earlier in the week too. I guess I need to eat more of it! My weight has stalled too, I'm hoping things will change up by the end of the month. I went to get my blood work done this morning, and then off to Curves. I'm back home now to shower, eat something and then off to get my bone density test, breast ultrasound, and mamagram...ouch!! Boo and Betty, I know your right but it's hard when you see everyone doing so well. I wasn't feeling well enough to do my workout today. Geez... Betty want to share your secret? Now you've joined Julie's club and the weight is melting off you too!! Bluehill congratulations for meeting this months challenge, and to Susan for your latest drop in weight. How is your back Susan? You all inspire me...I went from barely exercising to this, it would never have happened without all of you! Amourette, you'll soon need new uniforms from all your exercise!! Keep up the good work. Julie, how was your weekend away? Dawn...I think your part polar bear :-) -
I have the same issues with being tight in the am, and getting looser as the day goes on. I find that if I have a cold drink before I eat in the evening, it will tighten me up. Maybe it will work for you. Roberta

I used to weigh myself every morning until I realized the scale never registered any weight loss until about 8 days before the end of the month, and them BOOM....5 pounds gone. That's the way it's been for me for the last 5 months. Very strange...it would drive me crazy, week after week, and the scale would not move! Roberta

Hi Amourette, so the dating scene is going well, huh? Very good, everyone needs some happiness in their lives. Kat, you must have some big muscles from all that wood chopping!! Betty, I'm getting around, but boy is my chest hurting. It's pretty much like you said, you feel strange when you can't get out to exercise the way you want. I am paying for it tonight but not nearly as bad as it has been in the past, so maybe my asthma is improving with my weight loss. Tomorrow I'm hoping to get to Curves again. I really need to meet this month's challenge since I haven't done so the last two months running. Roberta -

Betty I give you all the credit in the world! I HATE the cold weather!! (don't like too much heat either) the older I get the worse it gets for me. Even without the asthma, I hate to go out in the cold. You are a brave women in my book! :-) Roberta -

Boo...where have I been????I didn't realize you were closing in on "normal"!!! Wow wee!!! Can I come too???? I'm so happy for your success! Betty, I see you braved the cold....always pushing the envelope aren't you. :-) Julie...I think that's great you've taken the step to groom your hands. It certainly completes the whole package of the new you. That is fantastic that someone absolutely did not recognize you....how cool is that. It is really something, this journey we are on, it's not just our weight it's our whole persona that is changing. 40 mins. exercise. Roberta -
