Help! Please could someone give me advise
amysmara replied to amysmara's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you everyone. Does anyone know how much our immune system is compromised from having this surgery? I know before the surgery I rarely got sick especially like this:/ my legs are even weak:/ I'm hoping it's not something more serious. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Help! Please could someone give me advise

Hello everyone. I had my surgery 3.5 months ago. I woke up this morning with a horrible sore throat and bad cold. I have no idea what to take for this. I know our stomachs don't absorb Vitamins and medication like they used to. So what are we allowed to take? I'll be working around cancer patients on Tuesday so I need to be completely better. Thanks so much Amy Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I'm about 3 mos post surgery. I was doing really good with all foods. It was almost like I didn't have the surgery. Of course my portions are wayyyyy smaller but nothing was really bothering me. But, these last couple weeks Iv thrown a lot up, things I was having no trouble with now make me sick sometimes I have pain and sometimes I'm just nauseated to the point where I throw up. I don't get it. Has this happened to any of you? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Wk 4 - only 3 pds down. What happened?
amysmara replied to healthier&happier4life's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes it's completely normal to have a stall, your body is hanging on to every single fat cell because your body is in starvation mode right now so when your body catches up to the surgery then you will start losing weight again. Don't worry it's completely normal and will happen a couple of times Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Yes I did too.. My doctors told me it's ok to take 2 Tylenol p.m. to help me stay asleep Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Protein powder?
amysmara replied to venomousflowers's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Premier Protein is excellent! Comes in powder or already made shakes it also comes in strawberry cream vanilla and chocolate. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Oh and I forgot to add that premium protein is 30 g of protein for 11 ounces and they also make 30 g of protein granola bars Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Eating 9 days post op
amysmara replied to d0minicanmama1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went to a restaurant this last week with my family and I explained to the waitress that I had a surgery and would she mind bringing two plate so I could share my daughters salad, I could only fit in about 3 bites but I'm 6 weeks post surgery at 9 days post surgery I could of never eatin anything like I did, I was still on Clear Liquids too. Some restaurants if you ask they will purée their soup for you. But you won't be able to eat more then 3 TBS so be prepared to take some home Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
10 Days Out, Feel Overfull, Nauseated and More
amysmara replied to HunnyBlossom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok here is my advice, I am 6 weeks post surgery:) Don't take this to harshly ok.. It's the advice you need I can't believe what you are eating, creamed soups are the worst, for your diet and for your system. Retired Beans, not good either:/ 10 days out you should still be on clear liquids. Jello, chicken broth, popsicles. Try not to put in any empty calories, like pudding even tho it's sugar free your body doesn't need it. If you want something like that blend up a banana but not until you are on soft foods. Stick with the clear liquids, until your body catches up to the surgery. As far as not pooping that much, that's completely normal. I had the same thing happen to me, don't eat things to make yourself go it will come out when it's good and ready. The gas you have is I'm guessing still from surgery, they blow your stomach up with gas so they came preform the surgery better. It takes a while for it to all come out. Drink things slowwwww and you'll find yourself having less gas. Sip sip sip..also try premium Protein it comes in vanilla chocolate and strawberry, it's awesome. I use the vanilla in my coffee instead of coffee cream, I'm killing two birds with one stone because I'm getting my protein and liquid in when I do that. 20 pds is awesome! But on week 3 you will have a stall. Don't get upset it's just your body is holding on to every single fat cells because it's still confused on what's going on..you'll start loosing again on week 4..hope this helps good luck:) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
How did you sleep?
amysmara replied to melbell2222's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I slept in my own bed as well. Actually I didn't even get my pain meds filled because Tylenol was doing the trick. I took Tylenol PM at night and that really helped a lot with staying asleep and the pain. After 3 nights the pain was gone. Each day/night got better and I was off even the Tylenol by a week after surgery. You'll be ok in your bed. good luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Have you tried primer Protein, it's actually pretty good. Don't advance yourself until your doctor says so, stick with Water until you are seen by your doctor. That's what my Exercise Physiologist told me. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
