Feel like I'm losing my ever-loving mind

It does take time. I don't regret the surgery at all. It helped me look at food completely different then prior. I don't over eat anymore and if i didn't have to eat trust me i wouldn't I don't get tempted by food. It will get easier as time goes by. Even when I go out for dinner i prefer certain foods that i enjoy if i don't like anything they have to offer i rather eat home. Prior before surgery I wouldn't care where i went to eat i just wanted to stuff my face and over eat. Now, it's completely opposite.

Head hunger. You have to replace the food addiction with something healthier. I go to the gym 3/4 × a week. Also, food turned me off especially after surgery and it still does. I had the SADI in December 2013 I went from 268 to 115. I also placed myself into counseling to address my food issue's. It has helped me tremendously and i was able to address my childhood trauma that i surpressed for 37 year's.

    DS vs Loop DS

Hi. I had the one loop DS in December 2013. I went from 268 to 115. I have maintained my weight. I follow the food regimen of a person who had the traditional DS. I only eat protein and i don't eat sugar, pasta, potatoes, sweet potatoes, bread, corn or anything high in carbs. So far so good.

  14. Are you currently in counseling. I would suggest that you place your self in it if you are not now bc it will definitely address any issues with food. When I did the psych she waspleased that I was in counseling to address whatever stuff that I didn't when i was a child. The psych gave me a list of questions and I was approved. She spoke to me about why I wanted tohave the DS loop and i passed it. My suggestion is to place yourself in therapy even if the psych didn't recommend it bc it is an adjustment to deal with the new you and trust me it will trigger stuff within you. I can onlyspeak for myself. I am three years post op in Dec i can say that I have a different relationship with food. I also had to switch therapists bc i needed a therapistthat was trained in dbt therapy (dbtselfhelp.com). This helped me tremendously. All the best with you. Head Hunger!

Hi. I had the one loop DS in December 2013. My suggestion is also place yourself in therapy. This definitely helped me with head hunger and realized what triggered my stuff. Now I'm completely opposite when it comes to food. I eat bc i no i need to inorder to survive otherwise I really don't like food anymore. My goal is to maintain my weight. Not loose anymore. I learned that when I stopped overeating I had to replace it with something else so I make sure I exercise a couple of times a week. Even if i can't get to the gym i make sure I walk. My eating is 95%Protein on a daily basis. I have cut out sugar, Pasta, rice, bread, sweet potatoes, potatoes, corn, peas and anything high in carbs. I rarely eat fruit not bc it's bad but my taste buds changed drastically. We use the crock pot alot. Chili with no Beans, sausage, peppers and onions, ribs, skirt steak with the cream of mushroom Soup with the lowest carb count. The ribs and peppers and onions are placed in the crock pot with a cup of veg broth on low for 8 hours. I keep everything on low for eight hours. Even though I am three years out i like my food tender. I don't like chicken and turkey anymore bc my stomach don't like it bc it is not tender enough. I am still in therapy and focused on dbtselfhelp.com. This helped me tremendously. Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App
  16. I'm very selective on what I put into my body along with giving my family foods. I don't like Peanut Butter anymore but i give my daughter peanut without salt and the only ingredients in it is peanuts. I try to avoid processed foods. When I was out of surgery for a couple of week i started to use peanut butter in my Protein shakes to increase protein. Also, look into almond butter. The products I buy are more expensive but you get what you pay for. Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App

    Sweetners

I personally don't use any non sugar sweeteners. I don't like any of them but i do use stevia for my daughter and husband. I will be three years post op in Dec and my sweet tooth disappeared completely. If i want something sweet I buy a slice of SF cheesecake with no crust. I try to keep under 20-30 grams of carbs a day or maybe less. I only focus on Protein threw out the day. I had the SADI or one loop DS. Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App

    Changes after hair loss

Before surgery my hair was straight and thin. I lost alot of hair after weight loss surgery and I cut it short. My hair is thicker, wavy and much more healthier prior to surgery! Crazy but true!! Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App

SIPS / SADI-S LOOP DS SUPPORT

I agree with you completely! My surgeon stopped doing the RNY bc he refused to do weight loss surgery and do another one which was the case with RNY. My surgeon only does SIPS, sleeve and DS. My surgeon suggested the SIPS even though I went in with getting the DS. My surgeon suggested the SIPS but I had the final choice on the day of surgery. SIPS / SADI-S LOOP DS SUPPORT

Hi. GM. I apologize for taking a while to get back to you! I follow very similar diet regimen as the traditional DS but I dont go over board with fat. I only buy regular mayo and dressings. Usually the low fat products are filled with carbs and chemicals. I do not eat foods that are processed. If I eat roast beef it is cookednot processed like boars head. In the beginning you will drink liquids ,protein drinks then go to the different food levels. If you can stay away from carbs but I think in the beginning I drank liquids and for the protein drinks i bought unjury chicken broth bc my inners were very swollen after surgery and they suggested warm liquidsfor two weeks. My suggestion is to place yourself in therapy before surgery and I continue to go now to make sure I don't over eat or under eat even now bc i am 2.5 years out. I went from 268 to110/115. [img

SIPS / SADI-S LOOP DS SUPPORT

Hi. I had the SIPS on 12/3/13. I was 268 and now I stay between 110-115. I keep a strict food regimen bc i know myself. I eat mostly Protein. Sometime vegetables but protein mainly. I do not eat peas, corn, sweet potatoes, potatoes, Pasta, sugar and bread. If I want something sweet I will buy a slice of SF cheesecake with no crust at a local bakery or i buy the chocolate sorbetto at red mango and put some almonds with a couple of raspberries and black berry's. The chocolate sorbetto at red mango is 4 grams of carbs for 4 oz. I drink alot of unsweetened homemade herbal tea this is what I love. My suggestion is place yourself in therapy before surgery bc it will definitely help you. I made sure i did prior to surgery then the therapist couldn't give me what I needed so found another therapist who is. If you have any questions please feel free to ask me. We are here to help each other. Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App

SIPS / SADI-S LOOP DS SUPPORT

I'm the same way. My husband and I are in the very early stages of sleeving but I've always loved to cook. That's my way of nurturing. I think I'm going to cook normal and just get some of those little tin foil pans at the $1 store. You can freeze it or have the kids run it to the elderly neighbors. Sent from my LGLS991 using the BariatricPal App I have learned to go to the supermarket with a list and nor over do it. I did this especially 6-8post op and I wasted so much money on food. I cook in the crock pot and KI freeze the containers bc I had to come to terms that I am not the same person I used to bewhen it comes to food. I shop every three-four weeks now bc I wasted money. I don't cook often bc iprefer the crock pot and cook in bulk. I used to always cook but I really don't like food theway I used to and lost interest in cooking. I get Overwhelmed when my fridge is packed .LOL! Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App
