Help! I need to get back to Bandland!
Critter54 replied to jbflorida's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well I am certainly glad I stumbled back here. (It's been years!) Anyway, I had not had a fill for about 9 months but really had not been losing weight either. Then about 3 months ago my band tightened to the point where I was losing everything I ate but liquids and soft foods. I gained a few pounds during that time also. Then the band tightened even further and Water wasn't staying down. I went to the surgeon and he did a complete unfill and sent me for tests. All the tests were OK so that meant the band all of a sudden was just too tight. Still don't understand how or why that happened. Anyway, 2 months later I'm up 17 lbs being completely unfilled!!!! I went back on Thursday and started the slow fill process all over again. But in thinking back I can honestly say that I was NOT following the healthy lifestyle of being banded. I was eating and drinking with abandon during those 2 months of being unfilled. I wasn't exercising hardly at all. I just can't believe I did this to myself yet again! But I did and now it's time to get back on track. Well, thanks for letting me unload. I hope we all find ourselves at our perfect goal weight at the end of our journey. Marie -
Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Thank you all for the warm welcome. And sorry it’s taken me so long to get back here. I’ve had connection issues for a few days. :smile2: Anyway, I went to the doctor yesterday and got a fill. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. I only gained 2 lbs since April. He didn’t seem too upset with me. However in his words I’m being kept “on a short leash”. I go back in 5 weeks and he wants me to see a dietitian / nutritionist. I even made that appointment already. (I go on 9/9.) WOW I feel like I’m finally back on track. My trick is to stay on track. I feel motivated; think I’ll take the puppy for a walk. I also want to go back a few days and read the thread. Will do that tonight. -

Hi all, I’ve been reading this thread off and on for a little while and think it’s time I started posting. I was banded in June 2007 and am now a member of the very, very, dare I say very slow loser club. I’ve only lost about 30 lbs but I look at it as 30 I’ve NOT gained! Actually most of it is my fault as I haven’t been to the surgeon for a fill since April. Plus some of my “pre-band” habits have crept back in and I’ve allowed them to stay. Oh and I won’t even talk about the stress eating. OK, once I put all that out in the open, I realized they sound like a bunch of excuses. So my first step was to make that dreaded appointment with my surgeon and face the music. (I go on Wednesday.:wink2:) My next step was to get my eating back under control. I’m still working on that and have really made some progress. Then add in the exercise. I’ve been on my bike three times in as many days. Today will be four times. And I’m going to start going to support group meetings. I look forward to posting here and getting to know you all. Lynn, I noticed you are in Newark. I’m on the outskirts of Wilmington. Marie -
Hi all, so glad I finally came back to the site! I was banded last year, coming up to a year the end of June. I have lost only 31 lbs during that time and realize most of my slow weight loss is probably due to my still poor eating habits. However I seem to be back on the right track as 5 of those lbs were lost in the past 2 weeks! I still need someone to either whack me over the head or kick me in my you know where. LOL Or some of that tough love stuff. What spurred me back on track? I bought a couple of WLS books and have been reading them while on my bike after dinner. The book by Colleen Cook really opened my eyes and has made ME accountable for myself. I've finally come to terms with my tool. And that's just what the band is; a tool. Just like WW, Jenny Craig, South Beach or any of the other WL programs out there. I still have to work it and dang-nab-it that's just what I'm going to do. LOL Oh and please let me know how I can help any of you all. Marie
