beyondgrief replied to sleeverv's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started a regime from Rodan & Fields to prevent this. It does amazing things to firm skin back up on the face. Lmk if more interested. Working beyond grief for a better life! -
Feel a bit lost?
beyondgrief replied to missblonde20's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I saw Lean Cuisine had fiesta spring rolls -- they're individual and small -- I thought it was a GREAT option as long as you chew a lot. High Protein (for what it is). -

Great job! Keep it up!! -
I have a pilonidal cyst that's been present for almost 20 years that will randomly flare up or get hot and painful at the mark of some trauma or major sitting. As a result of my surgery it's all inflamed and painful -- it's swelled off my back. I've been taking tylenol to try and help but all it does it make it less painful. I know we can't take NSAIDS but are there any other anti-inflammatory meds I could ask my doctor permission to take to help? If I can get it less "angry" it will eventually subside. Thanks.

2nd week post op
beyondgrief replied to Mrs.Snipes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My plan is the same... the goal here is to get to the 3 meals a day, liquids 30 min before and after habit before moving to soft foods. -
I felt the same until just now. I got caught up in a work meeting and opened my Protein shake for Breakfast. I drank it too fast (11 oz within about 15 mins) and I'm MISERABLE. It's very clear it's too much liquid at once. Before that, I didn't ever feel a restriction in terms of liquids.

7/20 here and my other go to is unjury or Isopure unflavored Protein mixed in my Soups and/or a syntax nectar juice in am. Great job sleeve buddy!!!! Working beyond grief for a better life!

About to start Pureed foods....how do I fit in protein?
beyondgrief replied to Nikkipit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I mix unflavored Protein into my Soups -- which I plan to do as well on my purees when I hit that time (I already sort of have moved to purees with the soups i've been eating). I always either get a morning (nectar) "juice" protein drink in OR an evening chocolate Premier Protein drink. -
Liquids to soft foods
beyondgrief replied to Nicole Kahla's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds bad but tomorrow will be one week since surgery and I'm allowing myself to have things like black bean Soup, which has whole Beans that I mash into a paste. The consistency is less liquidy but it was a good trial for moving into solids. Don't know if that helps, but maybe transition with something soft that can be smashed? -
Thank the Lord for Nectar!
beyondgrief replied to beyondgrief's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@emtobin75 you can use this link: http://rwrd.io/n74pypu I ordered: https://store.bariatricpal.com/collections/syntrax/products/syntrax-nectar-protein-powder-sampler-variety-bag-15-flavors I tried the Roadside Lemonade today and it was ok... -
I was sleeved on 7/20 and for the first few days didn't necessarily struggle to get in fluids, but it was a constant push all day long to get in approximately 40 oz of Water....I'm 5 days out and the one thing I've noticed in the two days I've been on "full liquids" as opposed to "clear liquids" (2 days post op) is that I'm sick of the after taste of things like Vitamin water, propel, Powerade zero, etc. I had ordered some Syntrax nectar samples and left the samples in my work office by accident. Just got to work and tried the twisted cherry first. Oh, Lord, I think I may exceed my Protein goal (30 on full liquids) today by end of business! It's so yummy! It's funny how some of the most simple things are those that I'm most grateful for in this process!

Sleeved same day...hang in there!!! Working beyond grief for a better life!

For Those Who Work, How long were you off?
beyondgrief replied to melvin5ft2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went back (today) on day 5 (sleeved 7/20), however, I work with a small group of people in a relaxed atmosphere and have a desk job (dir of hr). Most importantly, they know what is up and am supportive and respectful (i.e. the girl who is notorious for eating yummy smelling mexican food at her desk ate outside today so I didn't have to smell it -- without any request of mine (I never would have). If you're on your feet 25% of more of the time I would wait at least 3 weeks if possible. -
Thank the Lord for Nectar!
beyondgrief replied to beyondgrief's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You may have better luck -- I found it to be like any other drink and so it is an added bonus to get in the Protein as well. This morning I had twisted cherry and loved it. I tried apple ecstacy this afternoon and can't take it -- it tastes minty for some reason Loving the sample variety pack for this reason and bought it here at the bariatric pal store! -
Baritastic Phone App
beyondgrief replied to bg9249's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm an interface kinda gal and I loved the interface of it. I used it and myfitnesspal.com for a while to figure out which one I liked. Interface goes to Baritastic, but the food list was lacking and not complete (i.e. premier Protein showed up as premier and nothing else) so I chose to use mfp for that reason. For me, I need specifics and details in order to feel as if it's comprehensive, in the end, content won. -
Sour taste back of mouth after eating and when waking up
beyondgrief replied to BeanjustSleeved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sure it has to do with the body being in ketosis as well. As our bodies regulate into us eating normal foods and normal balances, I'm sure it will improve. -
Can drink easily since day 1 - anyone the same, did restriction kick in?
beyondgrief replied to roguegambit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on full liquids but last night had Panera black bean Soup and I mashed up the Beans very good into a paste that melted in to the liquid. I'd say it was a thick liquid consistency. After 2 oz I was belching and not uncomfortable but very satisfied, felt full (did not have hunger before it) and felt like I need 30 min before more liquid. I'm assuming this is the feeling/idea moving into purees to get us in the habit of the "meal" time and liquid "hydration" time. Before last time (for the last 3 days post op) my restrictions weren't too much and my liquid went down ok in the hospital and everything. Granted, topped out at 4-5 cups of liquid, but... my doctor doesn't regulate the amount needed to stay hydrated but does say "urination at least 2 times in 24 hours is sufficient." hopes this helps. -
Weird feeling in esophagus?
beyondgrief replied to Wendydarling19's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
7/20 here and have the same thing. In fact, there are times where I can feel the Water sitting going into my stomach like a funnel. I'm expecting as swelling subsides that feeling will lessen. -
