  1. I have nothing to offer other than I've heard people mention their voice changes a bit after losing a lot of weight. But i dont know how true it is. The only thing surgery wise I'd say that would directly effect your vocals would be the tube they put down your throat during surgery but you would be fine after a day or so, so unless you'd be singing the same week you had surgery, i wouldn't worry. I just think it's AWESOME you're training to be an opera singer. That's amazing!

    Sciatica

I wish i could say I've had a huge improvement but i dont think so. At least not the great relief all my doctors were making it seem like it would be if i lost 20lbs. I've lost over 80lbs from my highest ever (58lbs post surgery) so far and i still have pain and stiffness in my hips and lower back. My mid back still hurts like hell and walking is not fun. But its better than before. Walking is feeling like less of a chore, but i still have to sit fairly often. My lower back and hips and upper thighs WILL almost lock up if i stand or walk for periods of time. It's very inconsistent. It could take 5 minutes, an hour, i still don't know when it'll happen. It makes going to the grocery store really anxiety inducing. Whenever i go to my boyfriend's house and we go to the grocery store i have to lie down when i get back to relax everything and the pain is sooooooo bad and jarring. I always scream and cry until it settles. It doesn't take long but it hurts and wears me out. Sorry this was so long. Just giving you a very small idea of what i still go through even after losing a good chunk of weight. Im 5'2 190lbs 30yr old female. I gave up hope years ago of ever being out of pain. I guess I've made peace with it.

    Non scale victory

I have so many already now i can't choose lol. I think the fact that my boyfriend was holding me in bed tonight and said i felt "different". I asked what he meant and he said i am much smaller now so it felt like he was cradling me in a way. He just couldn't get over it and hadn't noticed how different i felt in his arms until that moment. He was like "i guess I'll have to lose weight now." His self esteem might have taken a little hit but man i felt so tiny. The night ended well lol. Sent from my SM-G925T using BariatricPal mobile app

    Natural Hair and Bariatric Surgery

I am almost 6 years natural. My hair is about normal- thin density and 4 months po. I feel like im starting to see some excess shedding but i have been keeping my hair in 8-15 chunky two stand twists so I'm not in my hair all the time and redo them like once a week. I feel like if its going to happen it'll happen. Just trying to go with the flow and ride it out. I do a thorough detangle about once or twice a month or when i feel like washing my hair, apply my leave in/ moisturizer twist it and tie it up. I've seen length retention but i do think it's a bit thinner. Sent from my SM-G925T using BariatricPal mobile app
  8. 4 months post op sleeve here and so much yes on this post. I have been really slacking and noticed so ive been back on my shakes and water. Still having issues getting my vitamins and remembering or making time for actual food. It's hard. Im back to going almost all day with no food and then getting so sick i can't do anything BUT sip water until I'm strong enough for something more. Just ugh. I need to get my life. Do you eat breakfast?

You guys make me wish i drank coffee lol. Not a huge coffee fan but i love tea. I honestly hardly ever eat Breakfast. I usually either don't feel like it or no time. But usually if i have it I'd start with a Protein shake. For some reason its just easier to get down instead of food first meal of the day. Sent from my SM-G925T using the BariatricPal App

    My new favorite yogurt

I love yogurt! Greek or regular. But I'm really lactose intolerant, nothing to do with surgery. I tried eating yogurt and the same week i started getting the WORST stomach cramps, gas and diarrhea. I realized it was from the extra dairy and since stopping haven't had an issue. Really sucks cause i love yogurt and the oikos 000 is my fave right now. But no luck. Anyone have any non dairy high Protein options. Sent from my SM-G925T using the BariatricPal App

    Ready, set, run?

I would love to be able to run. I have several herniated discs in my back tho and chronic pain. I want to be able to run at some point tho. Anyone have any experience with this? I've been giving myself time to lose enough weight that the pain lessens enough to work out. But im scared. I know it'll help me get my body together and my health but dammit exercise scares me right now. How did you guys start working out or pushing yourselves to work out? It's hard for me to make myself walk. I just don't want to fail at this and i feel like that's what's happening. Sent from my SM-G925T using the BariatricPal App
  19. You look amazing! I just turned 30 and am noticing puffiness/bags under my eyes where they're were none before surgery. I thought it was just me not getting sleep. My sister noticed too. I hope it doesn't get any worse. Im still getting carded lol. Sent from my SM-G925T using the BariatricPal App

    CLOTHING SWAP ANYONE?

This is an awesome idea. I haven't clothes shopped in over 2 years since getting fired from my last job. I've lost over 70lbs so far from my highest and am living in leggings and baggy tops and hoodies. It's sad but kind of funny. I must be one of the only women without a ton of sizes to shop through in her closet. I had been a size 20 forever and hadn't worn anything smaller since high-school. Thank God i still have leggings that fit. Going to go shopping next week sometime after pay day for basic Ts and sweats. I didn't realize how much i hated shopping when i was bigger. I keep thinking im still the same size until i put the stuff on lol. Sent from my SM-G925T using the BariatricPal App
  22. Torriluv - I feel your pain and shame. I'm 2 weeks out right now and am supposed to be on an all liquid diet still for another week, but I've had a couple of cheat moments...mostly involving eating some soup noodles, soft soup potatoes or tiny nibbles of bread, but also 2 chocolate mints that were put in front of me that I didn't say no to. I feel that I am constantly craving bread and pancakes even since a week before the surgery and I just keep daydreaming about when I can have a pancake again. I'm so disappointed in myself considering it's only been 2 weeks since surgery and I'm already thinking this way. I too felt a bit nauseated after my cheating and have really enjoyed seeing the pounds come off on the scale, so I'm hoping I too have straightened myself out. I didn't start experimenting until after i hit 3 months. I was too scared to do anything else. Once I got the all clear from my NUT I've been not saying no to certain things and im getting my shit together tomorrow. You are in a critical moment right now in your healing. I would advise you to pleeeeease give yourself more time. I definitely understand the head hunger and impulse to eat things but you are still early enough to really hurt yourself. I'd say consider what you've done and the potential impact it has if it continues or escalates. Understand it was dangerous and reconcile that it CANNOT Happen again. At least until you are more fully healed. Im making the decision right now to not let "bad" carbs back into my life. I know im still early out and i really want to be successful. I don't want to be another failed surgery. Let's do it together! You can do it! Just think in terms of the unhealthy things we want to eat are what kept us at our high weight. Eating them now after surgery won't help us now either. We might still lose weight but it won't always be this way so I'm trying to do the work to get my mind right so i can maintain whatever success i have in the future. It's hard but that's what makes it worth it in the end right? Please be strong. It went be long until you are on soft foods. It'll get better after that. 25. I haven't had it and I've had sleeve. Almost wish i did. I could use some negative (?) Reinforcement. Been reverting to bad habits. It's easier to stop but the fact that I've been doing it this early out is really pissing me off. But i think it's out of my system mostly. I think the fact that I've continued to see results is what's motivating me to clean up my act. I know i can do better and get even better results. Sent from my SM-G925T using the BariatricPal App
