  1. My sleeve can't handle **** lol. No but seriously, a year out and i still have to be SO careful. I'm grateful but its annoying when trying to eat out. Its way better if i eat at home, usually alone so I'm not distracted and eat too fast. I can eat most things but i still have to just upchuck after eating certain things. But it's not like a regular vomiting situation. I'll feel really full, then it'll start rolling up and down my throat and then ill start to get heartburn and then ill have to just make that decision to let it go. Happens if not a couple times a day then several times a week. Makes me not want to eat because i honestly feel more comfortable without food in my stomach. But so long as I'm careful with my choices and time, most things stay down. Sent from my SM-G925T using BariatricPal mobile app

    How important is exercise?

A year out and I've had no REAL exercise. I live in NYC and don't own a car and can't drive so i have to take public transportation and walk everywhere. I lost 100lbs and am in a size 8 roughly. I have a bad, BAD back (scoliosis, 4 herniated disks, arthritis in my hips and lower back, chronic back pain, fibro... its a long list and growing, so i can relate on some level). I go to physical therapy and walk as much as i can but it only started happening once the weight came off. Your calories are so reduced i wouldn't worry too much about exercise. You're going to lose weight with or without it i feel. If you have the strength and energy, do what you can. It'll be beneficial in the long run for keeping the weight off, which is what I'm going to do since im getting closer to my goal. Sent from my SM-G925T using BariatricPal mobile app

    Fibromyalgia Sleevers

No improvement here. I actually just got diagnosed with both recently and im a year out. I thought the pain would decrease street losing 120lbs but no such luck. My rheumatologist put me on cymbalta inner a month or 2 ago and i never started it. Has anyone taken it and know if it effected your weight? Sent from my SM-G925T using BariatricPal mobile app

    This May be crazy, but...

When you explain it that way i better understand. It makes more sense to me because im kind of sentimental like that. But im not gonna lie, i consider it from time to time to reign my eating in. It tends to get out of control. Especially around that time of the month. Always feel like i need a detox after lol. Sent from my SM-G925T using BariatricPal mobile app

    Post surgery back pain?

Might it be muscle spasms? I'm no doctor. I've just been dealing with chronic back pain for years. Maybe see if someone can rub the area with tiger balm and massage it and see if it's muscle related? Have they run tests to see if it's organ related? Like from your kidneys? LET'S TACKLE FALL CHALLENGE

CW: 148.6 GW:145 Date: 10/21/17 Didnt hit my goal for the challenge but hit 100lbs lost from surgery. So happy about that. Every number lower is a new low weight for me. I've NEVER been small. The lowest number i ever remember was 192lbs in high school while almost starving myself and working out like a maniac, so at this point any extra is gravy. Thanks so much for the challenge pixie! Protein and Pee!!

I noticed that protein shakes do make me pee a lot. Tea also sends me running back and forth to the bathroom. If i drink either before bedtime i have to give myself atleast 2 hours to rid it from my system before i try to sleep. Which is why i have to be choosy with how i drink when I'm out. 8. If you don't mind my input[emoji4][emoji39]...i notice that not all no's stay no's and not all yeses stay yeses. Also if im really sticking to my plan i dont have room for much carbs and that seems to make me less hungry than if i had been eating things with bread all day. I'd feel like i was gonna keel over after eating but an hour later I'm verging on hunger. Still hard sometimes to say no to the "NO's" tho🤣 Sent from my SM-G925T using BariatricPal mobile app

    This May be crazy, but...

Every time im having trouble with my eating my sister suggests i go back to liquids only. And my reply...."I'm tired of torturing myself." Because that's what it feels like. We already can't eat but so much i might as well just go back to basic protein first. And when i do it always works out better than going back on liquids for any amount of time. I'm just over a year and still have some pounds to lose till goal. I know i can do better some days with my diet but i just start over the next day or make up for it during the day so i don't feel SO bad. But that's just me. If you're already killing it in the gym and with your eating, dont kill your vibe and momentum with a liquid diet. I feel like it sets people up for failure sometimes. Hindsight is 20/20

I noticed the more good for me things i eat the more i want them. I'm also faster to choose the things that are going to give me long lasting results. Off i choose the right foods ill be full for several hours. If not ill be hungry an hour later or have heartburn. Not a hard choice lol. Besides sometimes it's not up to you. You just gotta see how you tolerate things. Sent from my SM-G925T using BariatricPal mobile app

    Hardly eating

Ok first off congratulations on your surgery! I had the runs for a bit too. It got a bit better once solids came into the picture. I was lactose intolerant before surgery and its not any better but what i found that helped was leaving it out. I can still consume small amounts but I'll still get sick if i consume small amounts over several days. It builds up into this huge horrible bathroom nightmare. Or LITERALLY one Greek yogurt will send me spiraling into horrible cramps and diarrea. Any time that happened i knew id have to lay off the dairy. I substituted with soy or almond milk. I'd get unsweetened soy milk. It has 7g of protein per 8oz i believe. Almond milk tastes a bit better but only has 1g for the same amount. I'd heard of nut milks with 10g of protein but i haven't looked for them. Also try a vegan protein powder. I think Unjury is vegan? Correct me if I'm wrong. I had the chocolate one given to me and it was like drinking a chocolate yoohoo. Definitely leave the dairy alone. Ive been doing fine on almost none. Give your body a few days to come around. If your THAT lactose intolerant it'll take a few days maybe for your system to get back to normal (i only say that cause any time things like you explained happened to me, it was from dairy and took about a good week or 2 for me to feel normal again). But it'll only happen if you eliminate the dairy. I am only speaking from experience. But also check in with your surgeon. It sounds like your having a rough time. I feel for you hon. I hope things get better soon. Food

Unsweetened iced tea with equal has been my JAM for some weeks now. Water is still hit or miss because sometimes itll give me heartburn. But tea has been my savior lately, really helping me get my water in. Sent from my SM-G925T using BariatricPal mobile app

    Hindsight is 20/20

Just over a year out and i love my sleeve. And believe it or not i may not dump but when i go off the rails i crash HARD. And when i say crash i mean i get nauseous, lightheaded, dizzy, and generally feel like im gonna die lol. I feel like that any time i eat a lot of carbs or sugar. It happened with half a slushy over the summer. There was so much sugar in it i got sick and had to lie down. Sometimes i have a bathroom emergency aswell. I never considered my tolerance for carbs or sweets would change but they have and it only helps cement the fact that i HAVE to stick to a more balanced plan if i don't want to passout in the middle of the street from eating too much of the wrong thing. It's even happened with bananas. I LOVE my sleeve and everything it has taught me and keeps teaching me about my body and this process. Sent from my SM-G925T using BariatricPal mobile app

    Do you find it hard?

I had and still have all those same fears. Its scary thinking your life will change just from the way you have to eat. But you learn so much about yourself, your body, and the changes you need to make to get the results you want. You may need to stick to a keto style diet until you hit goal, you might not. You won't know those things until your eating regular food and are able to test better how your body tolerates it. All i can say is TAKE. YOUR. TIME. With EVERYTHING. Especially introducing new food, also eating takes time. I'm a year out and it still takes me almost an hour to eat 3oz of food. But if i don't take that time and am rushing it i WILL make myself sick. Its not worth it. Weigh your food. It sounds obsessive but its the single best way to track your intake. I slacked early on but its really helpful with tracking macros. Understand that the weight comes off very differently for everyone. Everyone will have stalls, it just comes with the journey. Embrace the stall and look for other measures of loss. I know this is a lot and its barely the tip of the iceberg. We're all so different and every surgeon and nutritionist has a different plan. Follow what plan they have for you and keep a close relationship with them. I wish you well on your journey. Hope i offered a little insight. Hip pain

I'm seeing a rheumatologist now for my chronic pain. I had pain before surgery, but it has not improved and my hips feel much worse. I've lost 122lbs so far from my highest. I'm almost to goal and don't feel any better physically. The pain and stiffness is so bad if i sit for 2 or 5 minutes I'm so stiff when i stand that i almost fall over. It's embarrassing and frustrating cause i feel so old. People ask me all the time if i fell better and stuff and i have to be honest. Aside from numbers and clothes, i really feel no different after the weight loss. All my doctors were so sure losing weight was the answer for the back pain and now I'm in more pain than ever. My hips are the worst they've ever been and it makes it hard to do a lot of things. I even stopped working again because all the pain flares and stiffness made it so hard to get ready for a shift, let alone all the lifting, bending and standing i had to do during my shifts. I just wish i had the answers. Sent from my SM-G925T using BariatricPal mobile app

    Your diet now?

I'm finally a year out, (yesterday yay!) And it still takes me almost an hour to get through 3oz of food, and thats a little over half or more being dense protein and the other ounce and change are from veggies usually. I talked to my NUT about it and she wasn't worried. She said everyone is different. I feel better. Its still hard getting in 1000 calories when I'm sticking to protein first and veggies. I still supplement will a protein shake a day just to up my calories. Sometimes i barely hit 600, if im lucky. Sent from my SM-G925T using BariatricPal mobile app

    LET'S TACKLE FALL CHALLENGE

CW: 151.6 Todays date: 10/6/2017 Had my 1 year post op appointment today and my team was really happy and impressed with how far I've come. The coordinator wants to set me up with an interviewer to talk about my experience with the process. My nutritionist wants me to come to the next support group meeting. She said most of the people there are either pre op or a couple months post op, and would like me to give my perspective and what ive been doing for the past Year. Its kind of exciting and really put things into perspective for me. I thought i was failing but I'm actually doing pretty good lol. I know its long. Just wanted to share my good news[emoji4] Sent from my SM-G925T using BariatricPal mobile app
  21. I just dumped the rest of my big clothes. I kept a few favorite Ts to hang around in but most of my clothes are now my current size. I was stressing out about getting rid of them but they weren't very good clothes and i had NO room for them in my life. Both physically and emotionally. I went from a tight 20-22 to an 8. I'm happy but still want to lose maybe 20 to 30lbs. Its hard but sometimes it's so freeing to let go. It was more of a weight off of me than i thought it would be. Hair growing back...different!?

My regrowth seems finer, and a slightly looser curl in spots where it was a much tighter girl. I'm black, with multiple different curl patterns. I noticed i lost A LOT of hair around my front and edges and the hair that was a tighter texture on my edges grew back looser and softer. So weird. Thank God for gel lol. 24. After i had my surgery one of the assistants in one of my docs office said physical therapy is needed after stomach surgery sometimes to help rebuild your core. I was told it can cause weakness that your back tries to compensate for. My back was a mess before surgery. 100+lbs down and I'm still in constant chronic pain in my back, hips, hell, everywhere. This was one of few things to NOT change for me unfortunately. Hoping that once i get into a normal bmi range things will get better. Maybe another 15 to 20lbs or so. Fingers crossed[emoji26] Sent from my SM-G925T using BariatricPal mobile app
