Lap Band and the "Stomach Flu"

I was banded on 2/5 came home on the 6th and the 7th had diarrhea and vomiting/heaving.They finally gave me Phenergan Sup. I too wondered if I did something to the band. I have not had any extreme pain or problems. But some strange sensations. I am just wondering if these are normal sensations with a band?

Is a 1/2 cup of food keeping you full?

I was banded 2/5. I have experienced the same hunger since a week after banding. I was told that initally the swelling is keeping you feeling full but after that you will feel empty often until the first fill. I was cautioned against eating too much or the wrong things because it will cause slippage or the sutures to break (my surgeon sutures the stomach around the band to make a tunnel the band sits in). They told me to add a cup of milked down oatmeal a day. I have further modified it to my taste and have not had a problem. Once daily I will eat a 6 oz can of tuna with FF mayo and a little pickle juice until it is down to a very liquid consitency. This had helped my hunger and it has been satisfying to me for some odd reason. I also drink a protein drink when hungry and it helps to keep the hunger pangs down. I have found that I can not live off of 6oz tomato soup, 6 oz of yogurt and 6 oz of pudding a day along with the clear liquids.

Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO

I forgot to add the my surgeon had already sent me for the psych, nutrition ed, etc so they had everything for them to review. I guess he has a standard protocol that he does and it works very well. From start to surgery day was August 07 to Feb 08. It is a long wait, but worth it.

Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO

I have Empire BCBS PPO. I went through all of the work up and when my paperwork was submitted the insurance called my MD back and said I did not need pre-approval. I called to get that information myself from them. I guess as long as you meet the guidelines and it is outpatient you do not need pre-approval. I had my band on 2/5 and I have not gotten an EOB yet. Good luck
