Hey, I am wondering if anyone here has experienced an anterior slip, if so, what were the symtoms? Too restricted, no restriction?? I am curious, and trying to get to the problem of my being unrestricted...any help would be awesome. I know w/ the posterior slip, one can hardly get liquids or anything down...so I need to know what the deal is!! Thanks anyone, for some help!!

Hey everybody, I haven't posted in a while, mostly because it seems like I just type and it floats in cyberspace. If anyone sees this and can relate, it would be cool....I got a fill over a week ago...I feel pretty restricted, which is nice for a change. But I've had a terrible stomach ache since...like I'm constipated or full of gas or something...but I've taken things to go to the bathroom, and it's still there...feels like there's a lead balloon in my gut...is this from the band, do you think? I haven't had any reflux or anything like that...just the stomach ache that won't subside....

I have, I just have to wait for them to call me back today...they want me to come in, I'm sure. I just don't want them to empty me out! I finally have the restriction back that I had!

You do feel like that? It's been a week and two days...and I just have like a lingering heavy feeling in my belly....went to the regular dr yesterday, not my band dr, he said it must be my band, cuz everything else seems fine? Who knows, but it hurts, so called where I got my band, and will probably end up going there this evening. Thanks for sharing, I'm ok w/ TMI, because it helps to know someone has the same thing as me! :eek:

Hey Beck, I totally get it! I know what you mean....ask a question and you're not sure if someone will respond or whatever....Hopefully this thread will be better, because we're minnesotans! I am from Virginia....had my surgery in Deer River, with Dr Margo...who was awesome. I was kinda spoiled too, for a bit, because he was doing my fills for the first 6 months or more. He was awesome at it....then I started seeing a PA there, and she's good now too, but I'd wanted to go to Duluth, where there's more things I can do, seeing as I'd have to drive an hour anyway.....but now I'm back at Deer River till my problem w/ restriction is solved. I had gotten sick or whatever a couple of months back or so, and since haven't felt restriction.....ever since I'd started seeing Tony in Duluth. I don't know why....I've had an UPPER GI, and GASTROSCOPY, and the gastroscopy said that the band was either slipped, or there was no compression on my stomach...but then they filled me and found no leak, so now I am utterly confused and mystified.....so happens my coworker here who see's tiffany is having the SAME issue....they told her she had 4 cc's in her band...but she had problems, went in, and Tony only pulled out 2.something cc's....crazy. Don't know what's going on, but I feel confused, that's for sure!!!

I was just going to Tony Valentine for a while there...and I had some kind of issue of no restriction that he couldn't figure out, so I went back to my original dr in Deer River....now I go back tomorrow to find out if it's a leak or just if it's not enough in my band, or what....but they are great, super nice...very funny and easy to get along with. I have a cowoworker here who had Medlin too, and has Tiffany for her filler....:girl_hug:)

Where are you from Becks? I haven't seen anyone else on here from up here??

Good luck, you'll do fine...just try to stick to the rules....don't test it....it seems so scary, then you adjust without even really knowing it....

That's what I've read...but will you tell me if it seems illogical, that if it slipped up, where it's narrower, that the bad would be less restricted? Maybe I'm looking at it the wrong way, but I could see why it would be more restricted slipping down, because there's a bigger amount of stomach being squeezed together...but if it were to move up, maybe it's not restricting it that much? I have a lot of saline in there now, so I don't get it.

I'm confused too...however, it seems logical that it could have slipped up, since I was throwing UP through the band....who the heck knows!

I have no idea what the medial side of the stomach is....does that mean it could slip up? I don't know...I finally go in on Wed to my real doc...I will let you know what he says....I'm totally cornfused.

No, it's not, he figured that he must have missed the well, when he was trying to pull that fluid out, he ended up putting more in, then that was there and more when he went in the next time. I'm so confused. The upper GI said it was fine, the scope, the dr said it looked like it moved up, and the band was causing no compression on my stomach...so when he went to take the fluid out, and didn't see any, it seemed logical. But then the next time, it was all there...and he put more in, still no restriction...once in a great while. It just can't be coincidence that it was since I was sick, and throwing up violently. Something's definitely off.

Hey Steph...I can assure you that I'm not your cousin.....but my real name is Jen....I actually live in Virginia, grew up in Tower,,,I was banded in 05...it was going good until I got sick a couple of months ago...now I see Dr Margo in Deer River to find out what's up next Wednesday. I had changed to Duluth for follow up care, but they have been unable to find out why I am unrestricted. Dr Margo is an awesome surgeon, and the one who put it in, so I'm going back to him to find out what's wrong. I don't know where that resort is..by Rapids? I'm more familiar w/ Lake Vermilion near tower, since that's where I'm from. Crazy what a small world.... Julieann--I love to eat too....and I wish I could tell you that will go away, but the fact is, it doesn't. Not for me anyway. Maybe some people's mentality changes in an instant. But I'm a tester, I see how much I can eat, it's bad. It's honest though. It's always been a struggle, and though the band has helped me lose weight, the mind game never stops.

So where did you have your surgery at?? Great job on losing 100 pounds! That's awesome!

I know the Minnesotan's aren't keeping it going very well! I'd be surprised to hear from someone from Northeast MN. My band has overall worked very well...but now I have a mystery going...they don't know why I'm not restricted....I go back to my original Dr in Deer River to find out what the deal is....hopefully they can figure it out. I'm gaining, and very depressed. So I hope that it comes....and I hate to be so dang reliant on the thing, but if I wasn't then why did I get it? SO, I'm off my soapbox, hope everyone is doing well!!

I would say if you have a problem, you shouldn't have to pay....doesn't make sense..I've had insurance pay on all of mine though, so I am not an expert at that. Do you have health insurance? I'm going through a crazy issue too...now they're telling me I'm a mystery..no leak, no slip, it just doesn't work??? What the heck? So I'm going back to my original surgeon to see if he can figure it out. It's crazy....but I do know there's something wrong...it just doesn't go from working to not....doesn't make sense.

Sounds like me in a nutshell...to full, too little...blah, blah...always something....where's this "sweet spot" they talk about? I don't think it exists!!

I know!! Sorry I didn't realize I even did that! I must be losing my marbles...I have to apologize....no good excuse from me!!!

OOOPS...I guess I should fix that?? I didn't really know how to do the signature thing...I put that I was banded on 06/16/06.....but I wasn't...HOLY CRAP! I was banded on 06/16/05...I TOTALLY didn't even realize that I did that!!! DUH. Nope, didn't lose it in 2 months...it took about a year....it felt so slow at times, that it felt like it wasn't even taking place....The miralax is a prescription...but I saw a commercial, that they have it over the counter now...so check it out. I used to be on Zelnorm too, that helps. But I've always been constipated, this just made it worse.....Now it seems I'm one extreme or the other. Hope this helps....I know I eat a ton of fiber, like those fiber One bars, and all kinds of things...but my system is STUBBORN....doesn't want to budge....) I went in yesterday, and found out I do NOT have a leak! YA!!! He just figures he missed when he was filling the last time or something? I don't know, but I have more fill...so now I'll see if I'm more restricted..I hope I am, cuz I'm gaining at a fairly rapid rate.....Hope you all are having a good day!!

I have pain in my left back, and it's because of constipation....and I've been since put on miralax...although, I'm not sure if bubble guts or constipation is worse....(....don't know if that's what it is for you...I'm way to fast of an eater anyway...I'm not good for speed advice....)

Sorry to hear about that....it's just hard to hear that there's anything wrong, I know that...because in a way, you (or I should say I) get reliant on the band to do it's job...when it's not, it's just upsetting. The thought of going back on pureed foods really stinks..I don't envy you...but if you do it, like they say, maybe your band will go back...that would be good. Good luck to you...I don't know about what to puree, because I just mashed and crumbled and ate soup....I didn't really actually puree things...
