So I was searching around for useful tools that will help me with long term success. I came across several articles about writing your future self a letter. Has anyone done this? Has it worked? Thought? Any input would be appreciated. Below is a link to one of the sites I came across. https://www.families.com/blog/write-yourself-a-letter Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G530AZ using the BariatricPal App

A letter to yourself...

That's a great idea too. Very clever. For those of you who are tech savvy then that would be great. But then there's me who took a month to figure out how to use this app lol. Think I'll stick to the old fashioned pen and paper. Hahaha but yes very great idea and same concept. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G530AZ using the BariatricPal App -
Frustrated today. Found out that BCBS of Illinois is requiring me to have a 6 month supervised diet. Was hoping to have the surgery this year but looks like it's got going to happen. My deductible is going to restart and I won't be able to afford the out of pocket until after tax time next year. Just wanna give up at this point and say heck with it. Guess it just isn't meant to be. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G530AZ using the BariatricPal App

My friends surgery date is August 8th as well. I go August 9th for blood work, nutritionist, psych eval and some more things but can't remember off the top of my head. Hopefully I will not be that much further behind you. But congrats. It's coming up before we know it!! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G530AZ using the BariatricPal App

Thanks. Just now seen this. I haven't been on for a while. I have been living in chaos recently. I got for my 5-7 hour visit on August 9th. My insurance doesn't require any diets so I will be in what his office calls a fast track. I work with a girl who seen him as well. Her first visit was June 5th and now her surgery is scheduled for August 8th. So I know soon after my visit I will be getting a surgery date. I met Dr Oldham at the seminar and couldn't believe how informative he was and how patient he was to answer the same repeated questions over and over. I have been highly recommended to him and have done my research so I am confident I have made the right surgeon choice. Did you get sleeved Deeann? And yes I will probably flood you with questions once my pre op diet starts lol. I hope all is well now and will keep in touch. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G530AZ using the BariatricPal App

Considering the sleeve, suggestions?
rgme1983 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 32 y/o female. 339 lbs and I'm 5'3" with a BMI of 59.7, went to a seminar and now I'm considering the sleeve. I have had your people in my family all get the bypass and I'm nervous about that. I am not a sweetoholic but do enjoy my sweet tea from time to time and I also worry about Vitamin deficency. Any insight out there to help me understand things a little better? Good luck and well wishes!! A lady I work with is seeing the same doctor and they scheduled her scope within 2 weeks of her initial and said she will be starting her two week after the scope. It is happening all so fast and I am thrilled I decided to take this journey. I have been overweight all my life and I am just tired of being tired and hurting and now there is light at the end of the tunnell and I see a bright future ahead. I am so happy to have people to share my journey with and with people who have the same problems as me. Keep me posted mama!! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G530AZ using the BariatricPal App

I'm 32 years old with a 5'3" frame. At my heaviest weight I was 423 lbs. Now I am at 339 lbs. I lost my weight around 3 years ago with diet pills and stopping sodas. But I am nervous. I will be doing the sleeve surgery but don't have a date yet. My nerves evolve around me not knowing what to expect. I have NEVER been little or skinny.... At my youngest memory I was 11 years old wearing a 14 women's pants. By the end of middle school I was in an 18 women's and the start of high school it was a 22W. Fast forward to my 20s and I was 265 lbs at the time of the birth of my first child. And over the course of the next 8 years I had gained over 155 lbs. Now that I have kept this weight of 339 lbs I am now "used" to all the aches and pains that have become a natural part of my life. My knees have aged way before me and my ankles are horrible, one of them already being repaired because of my weight. But I am worried about the change. I don't want to become someone other than who I am. I know physically it will be amazing to get the weight off but there are things like my husband not being attracted to me anymore and me being that person who ends up obsessing over the weight loss. I have lost friends because of them losing weight and "preaching" to me or not wanting to hang out because we cant do anything they want to do and family who has had gastric bypass and now act like they are better than everyone else. I don't want to be that person. Had anyone else had these fears? I know I need the surgery and I will benefit alot from it so I'm not changing my mind. I just want to know I'm not alone. Any advice or suggestions? Thanks in advance. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G530AZ using the BariatricPal App

Thank you for that I really did need to hear that. It is hard because I feel the exact same way. But thank you. My surgeon told me about this app and told me it would be a great "tool" for me. And it truely has been... it's nice to know I am not the only one who feels this way and I'm not being judged either. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G530AZ using the BariatricPal App -
Considering the sleeve, suggestions?
rgme1983 replied to rgme1983's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you Sophie. That's what I wanted to know and hear. I know I can drink those in moderation I just wanted to hear I didn't have to give them up 100%. I have googled and read up online and everything I have read tells me no sugar and no caffeine for the rest of my days. So it's nice to know that I may reward myself from time to time. But even tho having a glass of sweet tea is the last thing on my list, tho it was the first I brought up, it's the Vitamin deficency I worry most about. Do you have problems absorbing Vitamins? I already have to take Iron and Vitamin D supplements, I just worry this will worsen. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G530AZ using the BariatricPal App -

Thank you for the info. My surgeon actually have me this website, telling me it will be a great "tool" for guidance and support as I only have a support base of about 4 people. Minus my doctor's of course. I have only just downloaded this app and skimmed thru this far but I see there are tons (no pun intended) of information available. So thank you for the tips and support.
