Such a inspiration the both of you. Im 8wks post op. I cant wait to get back down to my regular weight. I didnt struggle with my weight ever until 3yrs ago. I broke my back, arthritis set in amd everything they gave me had steriods in it. Blew me up so bad you wouldve thought i went on a yr eating binge. I was so depressed because i went from being this flight attendant for 18yrs weigjing 145lbs since my 20's to weighting almost 300lbs in my early 50's. I found out that i have MS, and lost my husband to someone that looks like she weigh 5lbs. But i said good luck with that mess. That was 250lbs i lost easily and gladly....lol. since surgery in down a total of 70lbs and went from a 3x to xl. Im just having alot of problems keeping things down still. Been back to er 2x for fluids. But getting better. I look to you guys for encouragement. My family is very supportive but i need to talk to ppl that know what im going through. Thanks again for sharing your story Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

Hey northstar9148, even though i couldve had help, i didnt ask for help. Thats just the person i am. Im 8wks post op. I began the program at 298lbs and lost 22lbs before surgery. On my first check up after surgery i had lost another 41lbs. My surgery was alittle more difficult because not only did they do the sleeve but i had gallbladder removed and a large hernia repaired. So the 3 days in the hospital i lived on the pain pump. To this day, my stomach is still really tight. Im not eating as much as i think i should. Im not drinking as much as i should be at this point because ive been in the er 2x for dehydration. Thats something that you want to avoid. Drink and walk, walk and drink. But in order to get through this entire process, youve made a great start right here. The people that i have encountered here have been wonderful. Yes, im fairly new but you have alot of old heads on here to thats maintained their weight. Reach out to support groups associated with your dr office and of course here. Hit me up on fb if you like and ill keep in touch with you. You can pick my brains if youd like. This isnt something you want to go through alone. If youre getting negative feedback from family, then id stay away from that. But were here for you. Fb pamela taite-pressey.....send me a friend request. Keep in touch Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

Abnormal EKG 1 week before scheduled surgery!
ppressey24 replied to sweetchef76's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This happened to me when my surgeon sent me for my xray and upper gi. They said my heart didnt look right on the xray and wanted me to see a cardiologist. While waiting on that referral my hands and feet and legs blew up overnight with Fluid. I was so scared that i went to er. When i got there they immediately took me to the back because i was huge. They ran ekg, took pics and dr came back and said i was in congestive heart failure. I was like, Me? No way, but yes. So because i was seen in er, they had me see the Cardiologist from the er that monday. They ran a nuclear stress test where youre laying down but they inject you with adrenaline to speed up your heart. Mines didnt jump up to where they wanted it to with the 1st injection so they ended up hitting me again. That didnt work. So if they have to give you 3 injections it becomes critical and then they break out the defibrillator with someone standing right next to you just in case. Theyve had alot of people die during this test. It speeds up your heart to fast. Once they gave me that 3rd injection i could hear my heart beating in my ears, and you feel like youve just ran a marathon. Your heart is racing but youre laying steal so its a weird feeling. All of that and i was cleared for surgery. They found nothing. He said it was probably because my breast are large and it made the xray look like my heart was enlarged. Dont stress and make yourself sick. Youve made it this far, nothings going to stop you now, better safe than sorry though. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App -

Sometimes lady, just like someonr elsr said, you may have to cut them off in order to get better yourself. Sometimes the people that have alot of problems losing weight do really well when they drop those other extra pounds....lol. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App -
Did you have the sleeve or gastric? Because you mentioned dumping episode, and they only use that term referring to the gastric bypass Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

Why can't I get the support I need[emoji17]
ppressey24 replied to janedoe92's topic in Rants & Raves
Janedoe92, people do insert foot in mouth alot of times. But you have to just really explain to them that you are very informed on what youre about to do, if you have to take them to a support group meeting with you, or to meet your surgeon, then do it. Im 51, the only child, and my mother wasnt supportive at first to the idea and ill tell you why. Ive always been 145lb, never had a issue with my weight. Flight attendant for 18yrs, out in the publics eye. We hit some very hard turbulence and dropped 500ft and i was up in the back of aircraft. We dropped, i hit the top of aircraft and broke my back, tore the ACL in my right knee and had to have emergency surgery. 3 months later, they found out i had MS and so everything they gave me for medicine had steriods in it. Arthritis set in and i was given fusions with bags of steriods and the weight just poured on. My face blew up so bad you could see that i was on alot of steriods for inflammation and pain. I put on almost 175lbs that i couldnt get off myself. Then i had to get off the steriods if i wanted to have this sugery. Once i started to look into this process, i took my mom with me to the dr so that she could learn more about this process also. Yes, they all may know someone that has had this surgery, but their experience maybe completely different from yours. You say WlS and everyone thinks off gastric and oh, you cant eat this, you cant eat that, theyre not informed. After taking my mother to the group meeting, she hugged me so tight and apologized for not being supportive from the start, having faith in me that im going to make the best decision for myself and not just rush into anything. So darlin, talk to your aunt, let her know that youre not her coworker, and if SHE hasnt had the surgery herself, she doesnt know what we go through personally and before saying something so negative about whats getting ready to be a major part of your life, help me, dont speak on something that she doesnt know anything about personally, in a nice way. Im 7wks post op and ive lost now a total of 75lbs since may and my parents are so happy for me. My mom looks at me and say she has her baby back. Just these past 3yrs since my accident at work, ive had back surgery, double knee surgery, neck surgery, cardiac arrest do to over dosing on pain meds, depression. And this is from being overweight for 3yrs. I walked into the hospital 7wks ago on a walker because of my arthritis. With this weight loss, ive been able to walk 3 miles a day. I can run behind my granddaughter, something that i couldnt do prior to the surgery. So girl, i wouldnt care who had something to say, you do you. If YOU being overweight is affecting YOUR life, do what YOU need to do because youre the only 1 carrying that weight. Like ShelterDog64 said, let them know that their support is so important to you. I know that ive probably said way to much.....lol but reading your post really hit home to me because ive been there. We will encourage you here. And as a mother and a aunt, if my daughter or niece came to me, needing my encouragement on anything, im going to be there and they will to, just inform them. Now that ive written this novel, im going to say goodnight. Be encouraged Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App -

ppressey24 replied to anthony1974's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone on this site is here for a reason, over weight and needing support. What makes everyone different is our right to our own opinion. Were not all going to agree, but i dont condone anyone making nasty remarks because you had a grilled cheese sandwich. This is your journey....whatever you do to make it happen. Your success to losing weight isnt going to be any better because someone gave you their nasty opinion, just let it roll off your shoulders. Hell, i had a slurpee the other day, a small 1 that took me an hr to finish and yes, i posted on here. I havent experienced any bullcrap on here but i know that people want to say what they think that will help you succeed, also on the other hand, ive voiced my opinion on others posts also and theyve taken it the wrong way, and thats the last thing that i want someone to do. I never want to think that something ive said was taken to heart. Like i said, we all have a difference of opinion and maybe people that have gone through this longer than we have may feel strongly because theyve been through all of this before us and want us to succeed. Glad you decided that you wanna come back on here, and good luck with your jouney. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App -
So sorry that you were in ICU. That had to be really bad. They nicked your liver, did you have to do a pre op diet? How many days if you did? I had to do a 14 day all liquids. Ive read here that some drs only require a couple of days and even then theyre able to have a meal each day. Hope your recovery is smooth. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

When will I feel comfortable again?
ppressey24 replied to laura1116's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Laura1116, youre 5wks, im 7wks post op and we're going through the samethings. Now its just not a uncomfortable feeling, my stomach is actually making the weirdest sounds, and i mean LOUD. my yorkie who like to sleep in bed with me, barks at me when my stomach makes the noise. Why does it have to be so loud? Its like its saying ,FEED ME PLEASE Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App -
Yes, i feel you. Like i said, i wish id had those concerns while i was in the hospital but i went through those first 3 days perfectly. But as soon as i got home, i guess because i wasnt constantly hooked to the iv, a nurse coming around every 4 hrs with nausea meds, then i let it get out of control because my stomach was and still is just so darn tight that i didnt want to drink and then i got dehydrated and once that happens, its almost like a really bad flu that you just cant shake. The first episode of dehydration, i was so severely dehydrated that i had to get a couple bags of fluids, then it took me a week to get the strength to get back walking. I would lay down and felt like i was on a roller coaster ride, that sickening . And last but not least, I CANT sleep worth nothing now. Idk why, but i cant fall asleep, my stomach makes these wild ass sounds that drive my yorkie crazy. You can sit across the room and actually hear my stomach, how crazy is that? Keep in touch ok, and ill check on you. The weight is going to fall off, some faster than others. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

Post op problems
ppressey24 replied to leisalesa45's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dang leisalesa45. Im so sorry that you went through this, i can just imagine how painful. Even though i havent had a hematoma, ive had the worst gas pains that i thought was a heart attack, and if you felt anything like i did, its bad. Especially when youre already feeling bad from recovery. I was great the 3 days i was in the hospital but got home and in 7wks, had only 2 bowel movements and that just makes everything else so much worst when you cant go. Good luck Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App -
Best place in Mexico?
ppressey24 replied to whitneyisfab's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
And im sorry but what kind of insurance do you have may i ask? Im disabled and my medicare paid for mine, im 7wks out. My dr is the best to. His office follows your everyday process, he gives you his cell phone just in case after surgery you have a problem after hrs. He doesnt depend on some answering service to get calls through. Like 2wks ago, i felt horrible for days i couldnt get out the bed, my mom literally came in and out bringing me bottles of Water. Thats the only thing i could keep down. Until i was just to weak to make it and had to go to the er. My dr was on vacation but the other bariatric dr in town was on call to see his patients just in case of emergencies, so when i got to er, they already was expecting me and had a iv ready for me and everything. Of course they had to run bloodwork and do a mri to make sure nothing else wss wrong, but he's on top of things and hjs entire staff is the same way. Good luck darlin Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App -

ppressey24 replied to drybonescomealive's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Great, and that will be the start of a new journey for you. Its was a wild ride getting to this date, with everything that we do to prepare our minds, and bodies for this change. But im 7wks post op and i find that i wasnt prepared enough. Nothing prepares you for this change but its a good change. Just remember everything that youve started practicing now and you'll be great. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App -
Vitamin D low pre-op testing
ppressey24 replied to sugarbear234's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
@@sugarbear234, my Vitamin D was so low the dr asked had i been living in a dungeon....lol. i think my nutritionist said the number need to be at least over 20's, my bloodwork was a 4, and even getting it through the sun, and i live here in fl, which i avoid being out in the direct sun. Ive had cancer 3x and so i just cant take that chance since my skin is fair. But, with the ones they prescribed, i still had to take that 1 everyday for 8wks until they checked it again, which was better. But im 7wks post op and its low again. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App -
It depends on what kind of slush (like a slurpee from 711?) and how you handle sugar. I really badly wanted a slurpee but no one in my area had any sugar free slurpees. I made one myself with crystal light and ice in my ninja. Not perfect but close enough. I use straws too. My surgeon said it was ok, it was up to me and my reaction. I havent had any negitive experiences. HW 385 SW 359 CW 331 (54lbs down!) Sleeved 10/5/16 My dr is definitely against them but i have had a regular slurpee. Im not a cookie, cake, candy person but my craving is a cherry slurpee from 711, and 1x a month, i treat myself. Thats just me. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

You know what, im not a dr, so i cant say whether they will or not, but i can say that ive had a gas pain that i thought was a heart attack, and ill take no pain verses using a straw anyday. Im not a fan of straws because i dont get anything from fast food places. And if i am out to dinner im use to having a glass of wine so no straw there either. You have to go with your own mind. If you think you'll be okay with using a straw then ok, but please, please, please, dont do it because youve read it that 30 people use straws everyday and then youre the 31st and you get excess gas and past the hell out from a gas pain like me and say but they told me it was ok.....lol. i, personally dont see how it could hurt since your lips are around a straw verses drinking out a glass where you can be like my boys and just open your mouth to drink and half your mouth is open....rotf. GOOD LUCK Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

ppressey24 replied to wilson06's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My son lives in atl, im in pensacola. Welcome to the group. Ive only been here since july. Im 7wks post op. Hw 298 Sw 274 Cw 220 and loving it....lol I was a flight attendant for 18yrs until 3yrs ago. I had a fall on the aircraft and broke my back and had to have major surgery. They found out that i have MS and so the 145 that ive been all my adult life went to almost 300lbs from the steriods in the medication theyve had me on. So now that ive had the surgery, i have to find a alternative form of pain relief because i can no longer take the steriods for the inflammation and pain and the oral meds constipate you so bad, thats almost like having surgery again. But good luck to ya. Maybe on my next visit to atl, we can meet and go for a walk. Ill be spending alot of time there after the new year, im planning my sons wedding at the venue the courthouse i think its called. Keep in touch Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
