    Who did you tell?

I have told my boyfriend, a co-worker who had bypass surgery (who quit so I no longer have contact with), and a friend 1,500 miles away from me. My parents don't know. My seven yr old daughter doesn't know (she lives in another state), my ex husband doesn't know, my brother and his wife don't know, and no one at work currently knows. *i know* that WLS is not "the easy way out", but I feel the stigma from others is that WLS is, so I do not need any negative energy or thoughts right now. I may tell my parents in a few months after surgery, (at some point I definitely will because my Mom is a candidate but is too scared to do it). Other than that, I will only share with my medical team (PCP, therapist, Pyschiatrist, etc.) or someone in the medical field because I feel they won't be judgmental. I heard at an informational WLS meeting from a sleeve patient that when people ask her how she is losing weight she says "I'm working very hard at it". And that will be the truth!! Psych eval

I have bipolar disorder and addictive behaviors (using alcohol as a coping mechanism). My psych evaluation started by answering questions on two different types of tests, followed by the Pyschiatrist talking to me about the tests. At the end of the session, the pysch. would only give me clearance if I completed three "contingencies": proof from my own Pyschiatrist that he is aware of my upcoming surgery (so that he can monitor my prescribed medications), proof that I was attending an addictions group (a note from AA stating I was attending meetings), and proof that I started and will continue working with an individual therapist. After supplyinv all that documentation, I then received pysch. clearance, and I have been scheduled for surgery September 13th! Completing her requirements was tedious, but understandable. what to tell the surgeon?

I am 33 and I was in the same boat ... No real medical issues (high blood pressure, diabetes, etc) but my BMI is 50. What you will probably/maybe find out through your sleep study clearance (if you're snoring loud enough) that you have sleep apnea. Depression is also a qualifying factor. And I have that too. But if your PCP approves, then you should be golden away. I think. I'm not an expert Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
