Losing weight = less fatty liver?

Since 9/7 I've lost 14 lbs. I think (I didn't record) I was 274 on 8/29 and today I'm 254. I have recorded weight on 9/7 at 268. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Losing weight = less fatty liver?

I've been on liquids since 8/29 bc my surgery was originally scheduled for 9/13. Surgery got postponed because my thyroid was too high. Now I am back to normal range and scheduled for 10/17. I was kept on the liquid diet the whole time so that I'd be ready to go for surgery once my thyroid was stable. Of course, my surgeon was on vacation until the 17th ... so I will be on a liquid diet for 8 weeks after 1 week post-op. I did have some pizza, but still lost weight the day after ... so I was curious about the weight last as vs. liver shrinkage Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. Hi there - I have read some people experiencing bad gas pains after surgery - I am dreading this. I get bad gas pains maybe once or twice a year, but they are really painful ... I just hate it. I take Gas X, and rub by stomach in circles trying to get the gas out but usually stay up all night completely uncomfortable and in a lot of pain. Is there a prescription the surgeon can give me that will work better than Gas X ... or any other suggestions? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  5. I just got my thyroid lab back, which was tested twice bc the first time the results were "higher than they've ever seen before" and the second lab result said the same thing. It's supposed to be in between a 0-4, and I was 59 and 56. So the anesthesiologist won't put me under. I have been taking my thyroid medication for months ... Last time it was maybe 24 ....I've been feeling so much better since I started taking my medicine (used to sleep 18 hrs a day) so I don't see how my numbers could be possible! Now I have to wait for my thyroid to get back to normal which could take an infinite amount of time! The medicine usually takes up to 6 weeks to even change anything. I'm just a teensy upset right now. Like sobbing. My surgery was supposed to be next Tuesday. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  10. Hello and thanks for reading. I had a sleep study done last week, and I have been diagnosed with sleep apnea. After speaking with the Lung, Asthma, and Sleep people it turns out that I will not receive "clearance for surgery" for at least 5 weeks. I was planning on visiting family (primarily my 7 yr old daughter) at the end of July 1,500 miles away and was hoping I was to get the surgery beforehand. Reality check ... Not gonna happen. So, I will now anticipate surgery date in September. I am bummed. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I am sad today. Disappointing realization.

Wow, this time HAS really flown by! I am reposting this thread so it can give encouragement to those that need it coming from the wonderful ladies that responded and reached out to me. I sleep SO much better with my CPAP machine, and I am so grateful I was diagnosed with sleep apnea because I had no energy before and now I feel great. My surgery is next week and time has flown by!!! To Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    September 13th surgery!

Ack! I'm having nightmares every night about eating solids (aka cheating) on my all-liquid diet! I don't feel cravings when I'm awake, but my dreams reflect how guilty I feel when I do cheat - SO remorseful! And knowing I won't be able to get surgery! Any smokers out there?

Yep, my doctor won't perform bypass surgery unless you quit for a year. It had to be at least a month for the sleeve (which is why I first choose the sleeve, but now I'm happy to do this surgery after more research and the help of you guys!) I just potentially spent $114 on a blood test 2 weeks pre-op to show their is no nicotine in my system (Medicare may not pay for the blood test). Another bill to add to the list, but nothing will stop me now ... So glad I'm smoke-free! Now I have money to buy all my Protein supplements and vitamins! My surgeon told me there have been way too many complications in the past for smokers who have the surgery, which is why you have to quit before he will perform the surgery. I believe he said infections were an issue ... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  16. If people ask you what kind of surgery you are having, just say it's personal, it's none of their business, or bugger off! Lol I just told my boss I'm having surgery and no questions were asked. It's personal. If I wanted to tell him what kind of surgery it was, I would have said it with the word "I am having _____ surgery", but I just simply said "surgery" and that was the end of it. Hope your workplace won't pry! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Trouble with Pre-op - Your thoughts, Please

September 13th here ... Pre op diet is 100 oz. of liquid a day (4 Protein drinks), 3 doses of Fiber, and a half cup of veggies (which I haven't been eating). Light yogurt is allowed (EWWWW), skim milk, broth, decay tea/coffee. I stick with milk in Protein shakes made from powder (up to three servings of "dairy" a day), pre made protein shakes, flavored Water, and broth. I confessed and told my nurse that I had solid foods week 1 (out of 3 week all-liquid diet) and she obviously told me NOT TO CHEAT WHAT-SO-EVER going forward Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

My dr. wanted me on 3 weeks and I confessed to nurse that I ate solid dinners the first week and she threatened to cancel the surgery if I didn't lose weight by 9/7 ... As of last Tuesday its been 100 oz. of liquids a day, including 4 Protein shakes and 3 servings of Benefiber ... And 100 mg stool softener... And now I have to take b12 because I was low ... Are There Any Single Sleevers Out There..

First of all, I love your posts! Also, I thought you were married?? Anyways, I worked in grocery stores for 12 years - fat, skinny, slightly overweight, pregnant ... And I have flirted and been flirted with all along the way! (Boy it has gotten me in a lot of trouble!). Flirting has always come natural to me - just talk, be witty, smile, maybe a tilt of the head, a step in closer, a light brush on the arm. Truth is, flirting isn't about whether you are fat or skinny - it's about confidence. People are attracted to confident people. Be proud of who we all are - which happens to be that WE ARE ALL AMAXING!! Embrace your new confidence with the pounds you shed, and start flirting!!! Witty and a good smile is how I catch a guy's eye ... And if they are not receptive ... Their loss! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Time frame from 1st appointment to surgery

I went to my first educational group meeting in January and getting surgery 9/13. You can delay it as long as you want. I was a smoker and my surgeon wanted a consult before first appointment, and I put it off until I quit. Then I was told about a $400 fee for pysch eval. (Not covered by insurance) so I had to put that appt. off for a bit. It all depends on insurance, then going through clearances - I had PCP recommendation appointment, 3 cardiologist appt., 2 sleep studies, 2 pulmonary appointments, pysch evaluation which led to 3 different appointments (psychiatrist, therapist, and addiction support group). Oh, and attending one of their monthly bariatric support meetings. I'm tired ... Lol. But I made it! I have Medicare so I was approved right away without any prerequisites. All of the clearances were for my surgeon Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
