    3 hour Psych Appt???

I just had my Psych Eval 4/29 and was there for 4 hours!! I spoke to the Doc for an hour then took 3 hours worth of testing; MMPI-2 (370 Q/A,) the MBTI (150 Q/A,) and some Eating Disorder Test (50 Q/A.) It was basically the same 5 questions asked 100 different ways. Really messes with you when you're bipolar! Although they were all T/F, I had to answer just one.. "Do you hear voices?" I wrote, "Yes, I just heard you at the microwave say, "Damn.. that's really hot."" You don't think they will fail me for that, do you?

Did I scare everyone away?? Hey, I just started here! Did the thread move? I like to read how everyone is doing. Or how about some newbies, like me? We know your watching.. :hurt: ..OK, I see the surgeon Friday. To go over my EDG, blood work and other tests. Monday is the Nutrition Class. Tuesday I have the Psych Eval. Looks like I'll be busy, busy! Can anyone tell me about the Psych Eval? When I called they said it was 100 Q&A. How much can they really learn about me from a test? That I'm not loopy! What if I am.. just a little bit. I mean, aren't we all?

    I am scheduled for May

Hi Shelley - With the exception of the Gourmet Chef Husband... we could be twins! :biggrin2: My weight gain started in my teens, I was 5'6 and 140-160. Then in college.. another 50 or so pounds. Finally I decided to get into shape and join the Army. Which I did great and my low was 123lbs. When I got out, I went right back to my old bad eating habits. I only knew two food groups.. Fast-Food and Happy-Hour! I also have very bad genetics. Everyone in my family, at one point or another, has been 75lbs overweight or more. I'm talking Aunts, Uncles, Cousins.. everyone! I was raised with my Mommas down-home-country cooking so of course those are the foods that I crave. I use to never eat Breakfast, had fast-food for lunch and a big ol' comfort dinner with all the fixin's. I didn't need to snack in between because I always had that over-stuffed feeling, or right on the verge of... Finally, as I've aged and moved away from Momma , I eat much smaller meals. My heaviest was 340lbs, I'm now 280. But it's too late, the damage has been done. I have high blood pressure, sleep apnea, a hiatal hernia, and had reconstructive surgery on my left foot/ankle because my weight was forcing my ankle to turn inward. So, if I don't loose weight.. I'll be having surgery on my right foot/ankle, and my last recovery took over a year! So, weight lose surgery is not an option for me.. it will keep me on my feet and save my life!! Thanks for letting me share my story! Tina

    Scheduled for May? What Day?

Hello - I'm Tina. I am scheduled for May 27th. I changed my name from Seattleite to Seattlelight. Hopefully the new one will give me more inspiration!
  8. Hi Rubyjade, I'm Seattleite (aka Tina) I jumped in here to congratulate you on your weight loss! I have not yet been banded and have 130lbs to loose. My surgery date is May 27th and I'm starting to feel a little nervous. So, when I saw how outstanding you were doing... I'm thinking maybe I can do this! Thank you for being an inspiration to a perfect stranger!! :w00t: :hurray:

Hey - your from Everett, WA? I live in Federal Way, WA! Did you get a lot of snow this weekend? We didn't, too far south. I guess we're not strangers after all, we're almost neighbors! :tea:

  9. Hi Bizzy Bee, I'm Tina, aka Seattleite. I noticed in one of your post you mentioned you were from Missouri. Then tonight I was reading all the post from "The last suppers," and you mentioned a restaurant that I go to with my parents when I visit them! Charlie's (Amish buffet!!) I'm pretty sure they only have the one location? I know they're only open like Friday and Saturday..maybe Sunday and don't open until 4:00 or something weird. But boy-o-boy is it worth the wait!!! That's the same comfort food I grew up on. Now you know why I'm so overweight! Anyway, my Parents live in Sunrise Beach, my Brother's in Versailles and my Sister's in Osage Beach. Not sure if you live anywhere near them, but I assume you live somewhere in central MO? Small world, huh? We're originally from Olathe, KS. They moved to Sunrise Beach to retire and I left the nest for Denver-5 yrs and now Seattle-8 yrs. I love it here, but you always know where your roots are! I sure miss the BBQ. :frown: And my Momma!

Best of luck to you!

  10. Hello - I got your message about my picture. I wish I was the artist! Actually, this is a photo of a wall mural made of ceramic tile. It's at a Souvenir Shop in Zihuatanejo, Mexico called, "The Fat Mermaid." -Fitting for myself at this site, I thought! :biggrin2: I'm just waiting for someone else to recognize it and say, "Hey, I've been there!"

Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgendered Bandsters

Thanks all for the welcome. D and I got together in 1990. I was just out of the Army, and weighing 135lbs. I guess we got a little too comfortable and gained too much weight.. but it sure was fun! She doesn't qualify for surgery, but will change her eating habits with mine to loose about 50lbs. We've been on many diets together. Problem is my weight always came back and doubled. I finally had to admit that I couldn't do it on my own anymore. I had my EGD on Friday, and I have a hiatal hernia. But the nurse said it won't stop me from getting lap band. I'll find out more in a couple of weeks. Hopefully he can fix it at the same time. Or later, and give me a free tummy tuck!!

    I am scheduled for May

:party:Woohoo - I'm a Seatteite too! Hey Miles, where in Federal Way is your surgery? I'm at St. Francis, Dr. OH. I have an EGD tomorrow and have to start liquids at 6pm. Sooo I've been eating all day, as if today was my last feeding! -tehe -Hi Erica, we have the same weight to loose so I know how you feel. I've been lazy all winter and only walking my dogs to the mailbox. Now with the nice weather, I'm back to walking around the block, it's a big block . The really sad thing.. in my youth/early twenties.. my lowest weight was 123lbs. Thanks only to the Military! I don't care if I see that number again, but I am hoping for 150. So, I plan on working out - A LOT and hope like heck it works! Best of luck to all May Flowers!

    new to this site

Hi Sufina. I'm new to posting also. Just received my surgery day, May 27th. So, I recently found the "2008 May Bandsters" thread. It's interesting because we are all banding in May. I also jump around to all the groups, just because they're educational. Dr. OH - St. Francis Hospital - Federal Way, WA

Hello everyone, I received the insurance nod today! My journey begins! I'm sooo excited, but the reality kinda hit as well. Before it was a dream. Now... I'm ready to look at, "the good, the bad and the ugly!" I think I was afraid if I read about everything, I'd talk myself out of it. One thing I know for sure, I can't loose the weight on my own. Thankfully, I have my Best Friend and Life Partner of 18 years to support me at home. Dr. OH - St. Francis Hospital - Federal Way, WA

    Any one in NW WA

Hello MollyMolly, thanks for the info. Premera said it could take 15 days to make a decision. I should be ok with over 100lbs to lose, hypertension and sleep apnea. But the waiting is making me nervous :puke:. I know everyone here has gone through this, and then some. Patience is not my forte, and this is just the beginning! -Yikes!

    Any one in NW WA

Hello, I went to the seminar Feb 11th. I had my first office visit with Dr. Oh on Mar 12th. I'll have an EGD April 11th - while I wait for insurance approval. I have Premera Blue Cross which accepts lap band, but I'll believe it when it happens to me. Anyway, my question is... what are the steps!! I know about the psych eval and the nutritionist, what else will I need to do? I'd like to help push this along, if possible. Thanks
