This topic is right up my alley. I think I'm going to miss my baths more than food right after surgery!

. My date is the same!

-ohheymarina, in my 30's I lost almost 200lbs (unfortunately didn't keep it all off, it that why I'm at this point) and had some loose skin. I exercised a lot and that did help. And I know that from talking to friends and family I felt it was much worse than it actually was. People I met post weight loss couldn't really telll, though some things were hidden by clothes. And there is always skin surgery if needed. Those surgeries have come a long way. Malin, I really am so sorry for your loss. I am sure you have picked a good and competent surgeon in a reputable facility. Things really have come so far since then. I know I've only considered surgery in the past few years because of those advancements. My fears and anxiety are so many. I do worry about post surgical complications, strictures and gerd mostly. I'm doing this surgery to improve the quality of my life and don't want to be one of those few people that wind up sicker afterwards. I worry about my friends and family really understanding my limitations for the few weeks and months after surgery. I worry about the initial "buyers regret" people have after surgery. I don't know if i will have anyone to talk to about those feelings. My friend and family all keep wanting to make sure I won't regret this decision so I don't feel like they will be an understanding ear. I worry I will only loose 20-40lbs. I really want to get to a normal bmi as a result of this surgery, something I have never been, even when I lost all that weight before. Lastly, I worry that I won't keep the weight off, the biggest reason I'm getting this done. I think that's enough worries for one person!

Glad I saw this topic, it reminded me to pay my bills!! Haha. But also amazing that surgery month is here. Love to know how the folks who are imminent for surgery are feeling. Good luck to all of us!

So I joined but confused. Is this thread different from the joined thread? Can't seem to find it. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
Bufflehead thanks for the tip. Don't know why I didn't think of it myself. I actually have a profile at care.com. Unfortunately don't think the cats will accept the clumping litter. I'll start looking for a cat sitter asap. Thanks again. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

That's my date... sleeve Twins.. keep me posted... Do you start your Pre op on Dec 14th to? @@vegbeth Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App Hi wilson06 I don't really have a preop diet to follow. I meet with the nut on December 19th but from what he has already told me the only preop requirement is 1 day Clear Liquids. Oh and my date is a definite. Are you as terrified as me? So my sleeve surgery is scheduled December 28th. During my preop phase my nut recommended I start drinking Protein shakes which i have been doing. But generally I've bought unflavored Protein Powder than flavored it as I like, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, spices, etc. Will I be able to do that when I'm in the liquid stage post op or should I plan on buying some flavored powders? Thanks. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Glad to hear people say you can do this on your own. I basically have no support either. I am worried about the whole kitty litter situation. I don't think I have anyone that can take care of this for me and my cats are very particular. They will pee on me in the bed if I don't keep it clean! I'm going to need to change it as soon as I get home from the hospital even if it's clean when I leave. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Mine is December 28th and I too am completely terrified. I'm excited for this and have prepared for the past 6 months but the reality is so scarey. How soon will I be able to get back to normal activities? Will I have complications? Will I be able to do this on my own? I live basically alone, caretaking for my elderly mother who lives downstairs. Will she be ok, will I be ok? I know this is what I want but it's hard doing this so much on my own without much for support. No friends who understand and really not much for help. I almost can't wait for this to be over as the next month of fears seems overwhelming. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Tentatively December 28th. Got my insurance approval and date at 8:15am. Nice way to start the day!

Post surgery vegan chewable vitamins
vegbeth replied to vegbeth's topic in Vegetarian or Vegan Eating
I found liquid multi my nut approved called Mary Ruth's organics. Thought I would share it here in case anyone else is looking. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
I did that with my ex husband who is a close friend still. I keep telling him about every pound lost! I know he would never be supportive of surgery because he made fun of a friend of ours who did it. I don't expect he will ever figure it out cuz he's clueless! Ideas for non-meat proteins?
vegbeth replied to ShelterDog64's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
How about seitan? It's a meat substitute made from wheat gluten, very high in Protein and can be used like beef in most recipes. You can find it prepared and in different flavors at Whole Foods. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
I'm so sorry for what you are going through. Hope you heal quickly. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Severe Constipation 11 Months Out - What Helps!?!
vegbeth replied to Jenny12's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm pre surgery but do have chronic constipation issues already. I've been taking a magnesium citrate supplement called Calms , by Natural Vitality. It makes an effervescent drink but if you let it sit awhile all the bubbles go away. Doesn't work immediately like a drug but definitely keeps things loose and moving. Post surgery vegan chewable vitamins
vegbeth replied to vegbeth's topic in Vegetarian or Vegan Eating
Thanks for the suggestions Canoodley. I suspect that the natures one and country life multis have a non vegan d3. Which is made from lanolin. I'm going to check with my nut to see if the children's chewables are acceptable. Cute kitty you have there too!!! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
does anyone have 60 pounds or less to lose?
vegbeth replied to conrad1's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Love this thread. I started my weight loss journey over 7 months ago with a starting weight of 252 at 5'2", current weight of 189 hoping to get to at least 131 but ideally 125. That would be a total of 64lbs from my current weight but total loss of 126. I'm just waiting for my insurance approval now and hoping for surgery in December. I was worried about getting a hard time about going for surgery after successfully loosing weight but honestly I struggle ever day with being extremely hungry. And although I've lost weight (this much and more) I've never been completely successful in keeping it off. I'm hoping this will be the tool for need to loose this last 60+ pounds and more importantly keeping it off! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
Do You Use Alcohol after Weight Loss Surgery?
vegbeth replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Food and Nutrition
I'm pre op and have thought a lot about this issue. My mom is a recovering alcoholic so I am concerned about the idea of swapping addictions. With all that being said I plan to drink post op but not for a long time, at least 8 months out. Longer if my stomach seems iffy. But even then I plan on only doing it on special occasions (birthday, thanksgiving, etc and no more than once a month). But before I do any of that I'm going to have a drink at home with a close friend here to see how I react to it. I do love cooking with alcohol though, does anyone know if that is an issue post op? I know it will be a while before I'm cooking real meals but wondering if it's acceptable. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
family that won't stop eating badly ?
vegbeth replied to marissa_d's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
It sounds like your family is being completely rude and insensitive! Sorry you have to deal with that. I'm a vegan and gave up fast food years ago. To make it easier I looked up every disgusting fact about the food in these places. I'm thinking pink slime, E. coli contaminations, and general unsanitary conditions in the processing. Perhaps doing some of this research for yourself and getting the specific facts that you can share with them will make them not want it. At the very least it might make it less appealing to you. Good luck and I hope your family stops being so unsupportive. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -

Beth isreal Boston Massachusetts
vegbeth replied to Mandat89's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
My insurance is neighborhood health plan. I started the process as a self payer (yikes) and got recommendations from the practice as to what health insurance to pick. I just moved back to the Boston area in august but started the process when I was here visiting. As far as I know there was not a 6 month waiting period but I do know there was a requirement to loose some weight. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
