Scopolamine (nausea medication) and loss of vision
SoCalLaura replied to FabulousFun87's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’m a nurse, this is a common side effect of scopolamine. You did the right thing in removing the patch. -
I am a RN in a busy ER, I went back to work after one week because that is all I could take off financially. I was fine. Fill a water bottle and sip any chance you get. Don’t bring foods to eat that you haven’t tested on your days off...there were a couple of times I had to quickly excuse myself and vomit. Bring easy to digest foods...like protein shakes, yougurt, oatmeal, etc... Plan ahead.. I never had any pain.

Any nurses who got sleeved?
SoCalLaura replied to AprSleever's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm an ER RN in a very busy ER, I took 9 days off... I did ok I just had to remember to drink all day. I also told my supervisor I had hurt my back and was put in a lower accuity area to diminish lifting. -
I am 11 months out from surgery, I eat around 1500 calories because I am still trying to lose a bit of weight, my nutritionist says after the weight loss I will be eating around 2000-2200 cals to maintain. The weight is coming off slower now that I don't have as much to lose but it is coming off. After probably the first month I was eating around 1200-1500 calories and I was able to lose 70 lbs up to this point. Bottom line I did not and will not have to starve myself to lose the weight after wls...

I started drinking green juices almost immediately. I would dilute with coconut water and sip on it for my liquid phase.

I feel like I over eat some days
SoCalLaura replied to biglady904's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I have the same "problem". I notice some days or even weeks I can eat more than others... I meal prep for work and some days I can eat the whole meal and some days I can only eat half... initially I was concerned but I got over it and decided it's just my body telling me when I need more or less food... I don't try to overthink it anymore... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Cruise three month post op?
SoCalLaura replied to sally628's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went to an all inclusive resort 6 weeks post op and did fine. You do have to search a bit for food you can eat but I should be fairly easy on the cruise. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I had the sleeve done by Dr Ortiz. I really liked him... he has great stats, virtually zero leaks and very low complication rates. The only thing I didn't like was not having a private bathroom in my room in the hospital. Otherwise I'm very pleased with my surgery!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Returning to work 1 week after surgery?
SoCalLaura replied to sleevette's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm an ER Nurse and went back to work after one week. If I needed help with lifting I just asked for it and said I had an injury... i only had lifting restrictions for two weeks so it wasn't much of a big deal. I didn't have issues with getting my water/protein...I had a plan and stuck with it... I personally felt great after surgery so I am glad I went back to work and didn't use up much sick time. Parking at Border Crossing
SoCalLaura replied to jhottness's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I'm in San Diego and parked my car at Border Crossing for my surgery in May. It is easy and safe and cheaper than airport parking. Good Luck!
