Any advice before gastric sleeve. Anything you wish you had known
Clarevoyant replied to neo77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought I knew how hard it would be emotionally but did not appreciate it. I had some tough days feeling sorry for myself but have come out the other side and feel great. Just keep your eye on the prize! Also I was one of the ones that had a very hard time sipping. It was just so uncomfortable. Though it only lasted 3-4 days it felt like I'd never be able to enjoy a tall glass of Water again but no issues now! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Eating normal as in pre surgery normal
Clarevoyant replied to laylalayla's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Carbonation doesn't really stretch it either. I drink a lot of Perrier myself but mostly before or in between meals. It can be really painful too soon after a meal (even waiting an hour might not be enough) and I'm not sure that will ever change. Same goes for champagne. How far out are you? I desperately miss seltzer but am afraid as I heard it can be very uncomfortable Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App 5 months post-op. I never had a restriction on seltzer so I believe I had my first around 3 weeks post-op. I have no issues with it on an empty stomach, but the sole time I've thrown up post-op was from drinking seltzer too soon after a meal of dense Protein. It was like an hour after I ate steak and the seltzer was super bubbly. So now I won't drink seltzer if I feel any fullness in my stomach after a meal. But in between and beforehand- totally as refreshing as ever. And a good way to get in Water and minerals. Thanks! I'll give it a try. I really do miss it Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Social life after sleeve

90% of the time the waiter asks if there was a problem with the food or I didn't like it. It's annoying. I'm tempted to start saying yes and get a free meal Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Social life after sleeve
Clarevoyant replied to cmbev's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been very open with close friends and family about the surgery which makes it so much easier. Thankfully every single person I have told has been 100 % supportive. Going out to eat was still hard in the beginning as your mind struggles to catch up with your body. There were times I'd get soup and couldn't even finish it or get an app and could only eat a couple bites while everyone else ate whatever they wanted. It was frustrating at times but has gotten easier. You get more familiar with your sleeve and what it wants and tolerates and how much it can handle of different consistencies etc. and then you can make choices that will work well. I am at the point now, 4.5 months out, where this is my new normal and I just deal with it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

It can be intimidating and stressful! Stay organized, I kept spreadsheet with required appointments and a folder with all paperwork. Made me feel organized and in control. My first appointment was end of December last year and the time has flown by. It has not been easy but i could not be happier with my decision. It has been life changing and so worth every moment of frustration, doubt and stress. Keep your eye on the prize!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Make sure you track everything and meet daily goals and it will come. Personally my mood is way to dependent on the number on the scale so have put it in the closet and now plan to take it out monthly! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Hi everyone! Made this in my slow cooker today. Though I am well beyond puree stage I sill eat a lot of Soup and this was delicious. Of course, I also added some GENEPRO Protein powder! Butternut Squash Bisque INGREDIENTS:32 oz cubed butternut squash 2 large shallots, quartered 2 cups chicken broth 1 tbsp chopped garlic 3/4 cup coconut milk pinch nutmeg DIRECTIONS: Place the squash, shallots, garlic and broth in the slow cooker. Cook on low for 8 hours or high 4 hours, until soft and cooked through, a knife should easily be inserted. Stir in coconut milk and nutmeg. Blend in a blender or using an immersion blender. First Thanksgiving
Clarevoyant replied to moniquea's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am four months out. Did a spin class in the morning, then homemade smoothie. For dinner had about 2-3 oz of turkey and two bites of mashed potatoes. Also had some red wine and bite of ice cream cake. Felt like I indulged but was not overly full. -

Oh my goodness. Best wishes for a speedy recovery! -
If you don't feel a restriction and think you can even eat more than you should it is imperative that you weigh everything that you eat. It is very easy to misjudge by eyesight alone and that will help make sure you stay on track and be successful! Best of luck! This thanksgiving be thankful everything went as smooth as it did !
