3 week mark - ate too much.

I am over six months out and am not sure I can eat that much. It is easy to forget how small your stomach is so it's important to measure out in advance. You said you ate slowly but it was hard? What was hard? Eating that much? Stop before you are full. Do not force it down. Good luck! This mental part was the hardest for me. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Yeah I still find it annoying. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. I started losing about month three and have just noticed it has seemed to slow down a bit. I hit 6 months yesterday. Still losing some but not clumps. I have been taking Biotin since day 1 and hopefully that will assist with the regrowth. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    It's hard !

Think about it this way, you have probably lost and gained 10 pounds several times in your life and this will be the last time you have to do it without the aid of your sleeve! You can do it! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Energy?

I was really tired first few months due to the low calories but as I have lost weight and exercised consistently, my energy is so much higher than pre-surgery! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Alcohol

My dr allowed it at one month which is pretty aggressive compared to others. I waited until two months, had a couple sips of wine and was fine. I'm now just about six months out and have about two glasses a week. It does not impact me any differently than before surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  10. So I am almost 6 months out of surgery and down almost 70 pounds from pre-op diet and almost 80 pounds overall. I could not be happier with my decision or the progress I have made so far! I was having a conversation with two close friends at work who have been so supportive and they asked how much more I wanted to lose. I'm about 20 pounds from the initial goal I set but now think I want to lose 30 more pounds, just based on where I am carrying the weight. So I told them 30 pounds and they both were shocked and adamant that if I lost 30 more pounds it would be unhealthy. There was no negativity or judgement at all but it really got me thinking about how I view myself compared to how others now view me. I know I've lost a lot and can see it but I tend to focus on the problem areas and how much more I have to go rather than how far I've come. Will I ever see myself they way others do or will I always see the fat girl? As an aside I bought a pair of size 10 pants this week. Can't quite wear them in public yet but they zip up Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Coffee?

I drink caffeinated coffee every day. Was told early on by my dr that as long as I get my fluids and Protein in each day I can have caffeinated coffee. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Do you drink carbonated beverages?

I am just over five months out and have not had any yet. Going to try some seltzer soon and see how it feels. I really miss that! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Very minor annoyance

Yes do not spend money on clothes! Since July I have gone from a size 22 to 12!!! It feels amazing but work clothes are a real problem. It seems like I drop a size a month right now. I am so grateful and happy about it but I am constantly buying new work clothes, pants especially. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Is this normal bruising?

Wow I see other comments that people had similar bruises. I did not bruise at all, not even like in the first picture. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Feeling great

Glad you're feeling great. I am five months out and still a lazy girl at heart. I have been doing spin class and treadmill but the struggle is real :-)

    Need Encouragement and Reassurance.

It's normal to be nervous. The waiting was the worst part for me. They gave me something to relax before wheeling me in and it was awesome! Lol Next thing I knew I woke up in recovery. I slept a lot the first few hours. Drinking was diffficult but by then your sole focus is on meeting your goals and resting. You'll do great! Good luck and keep us updated!! Pre-Op Diet - Terrible Headaches!?

Gosh you just brought back memories. Feels like a lifetime ago but I started my preop diet 5 months ago today. I had quit coffee a couple weeks before but also had terrible headaches on the preop diet but think mine only lasted a few days. Good luck! It will get better and be well worth it in the end! 23. For those that have reached or are near goal, how often did you exercise? Right now I can realistically commit to 3 days a week. I want to do more but I am still a lazy person at heart . I wake up at 5:45am for work and get home about 8pm and am just way to tired. I know that is an excuse but I just can't get myself to do it the four days I commute. So basically I exercise Sat, Sun and the one day I work from home. Given I have about 25 pounds left to goal, I am expecting a slow down in the rate I lose and know exercise should help but am just curious what other people have done. Thanks! I don't want to weigh!

I think it's fine to weigh less often in the beginning, particularly if it impacts your mood. I do think once you are in maintenance it's important to weigh more often so the scale doesn't creep up and you can learn what works and what doesn't. For me personally, whenever I was gaining weight I was not looking at the scale and somehow always surprised at how much I weighed. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Olive oil?

I use full fat everything. I cook with olive oil and butter too. My calories are too low otherwise. My plan is to monitor and as long as I keep losing I'll keep doing that. Once I stall or start eating enough volume that I need to cut back in calories that will be an easy place to do so. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
