Truthful Regrets, Anyone?
Clarevoyant replied to Tiff187's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
God bless you Ms. CoCo. We're going to make it though cause God is gonna get us through! This too shall pass. I know for sure I'm not ready to go back to work but I went with the minimum time my dr recommended. Ooh but if I'd known what I know now. Smh, my job is sedentary so it shouldnt be too bad. But I'd much rather focus on rest, fluids, and these forsaken shakes. Lol Sent from my SM-N900P using the BariatricPal App If you feel you need more time you should really ask the dr to update your paperwork. I'm scheduled for 7/18 but my office has said they will follow my lead on when I am ready and fill out any STD/FMLA leave paperwork I need. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
When to tell Boss?
Clarevoyant replied to finding_onederland's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I told my boss after my first consultation because I was going to need a lot of flexibility to go to all my pre-op appointments. He has been super supportive. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

You can call your insurance tomorrow and find out their requirements. No need to wait until you see the surgeon. Good luck! -

YES! Since my son is out of town and he will be eating healthy with me (whether he knows it or not lol) I've thrown away cereal, chips, tortillas, syrup, etc. My cupboards and fridge are so empty right now. Bags of old clothes that are too small but haven't been able to part with, and I've organized them so I can "shop" when I start losing without going broke lol. For someone who generally feels tired and in pain most times, I sure have a lot of energy lately I think my brain is just telling me to prepare for a major change. If only I could maintain this energy all the time... I probably wouldn't need surgery I know but it is a great feeling, just shows we are mentally ready! When is your surgery? Mine is three weeks from tomorrow.

OMG I am doing the same thing! Cleaning, organizing, throwing out clothes that are too big or I know I will never wear, organizing the clothes that are too small into groups by just how too small they are, ditching food I know I won't eat again. Feels great!

Try checking your measurements. You could be losing inches if not pounds and that is even better in my opinion. Stick your plan and results will come. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Do u have to have Drain come out of your cuts after surgery
Clarevoyant replied to ehedary's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon does not use a drain unless necessary, which he said is about 2 times a year. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
So I have been reading a lot about bone broth and it looks alike a great option to get Protein and liquids post surgery. Anyone here drink it? Is it actually any good? Any particular brand you like? I've seen Kettle & Fire and Bare Bones online. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Today was my last monthly appointment of the six required by insurance so my doctor's office will be submitting to insurance in the next couple of days. Fingers crossed. Surgery is scheduled for July 18. We also used today as my pre-op appointment and went through everything. Thanks to this forum I felt very prepared to have this meeting and came prepared with lots of questions. One thing I have noticed is how much variety there is on surgeon preferences. Here are some highlights of how my surgeon handles things: Pre-op Diet: One week liquid only, 800-1000 calories and 60-80 grams of Protein. Incisions-uses steri strips so no need for stitches to be removed Does not use a drain unless necessary based on how things go, averages one every two years so low likelihood Does the leak test during surgery rather than next day before you go home. Says he would rather know during so can fix right away than have to put me under again to fix. Should be released by 3-4pm day after Will be released with pain pills, anti-nausea pills and pill to help prevent ulcers Will not give bariatric specific Vitamins. He said blood work will determine any deficiencies over time but as long as eating a proper diet a multi-Vitamin should be sufficient Can't wait!!

Does anyone have to pay a large copay and deductible
Clarevoyant replied to Justina0218's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My annual out of pocket max is 1250 for the year. I'll be about halfway there by the time surgery comes so will pay about 600 for surgery. -

6 month preop requirements
Clarevoyant replied to tholbert08's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@kmorri Completely agree! My insurance says it must be 6 months of a FAILED weight loss program. I am teetering on the edge because it has been hard not to start healthy habits now. It gets submitted to insurance next week so hopefully I'll know soon. Surgery scheduled for 7/18 Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
