  2. Happy 48th Birthday Ginny1!

  3. I know EXACTLY how you are feeling - I felt the same way.. Listen this is the Hardest thing you will ever have to do - I thought quitting smoking was going to be hard - that was nothing compared to not being able to eat any food for 6 weeks.... Have you had any jello? I am almost sure that you are allowed to have jello ...My suggestion to you is when you see doctor Gorecki tomorrow ask him if it would be ok for you to have some jello....
  4. lol.. I totally understand how you feel but i need to be very honest with you - there is a strict regiment after lapband for a good reason - if you do not do what he says you can hurt yourself - I was on liquids 2 weeks BEFORE the surgury and 4 weeks AFTER the surgery then I was able to incorporate mushys into my diet. I KNOW IT IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HARD but I promise you it is worth it .... Listen to whatever Dr. gorecki says to do and you will be fine
  5. Hi so nice to hear from you.. I also LOVE Dr. gorecki - he saved my life as well... I was banded March 2008n - I lost 110 pounds so far - I am also seeing Dr. Gorecki tomorrow... I have a 9 am appoint, ent - He actually has to lossen my band - it is to tight.. What time is your appointment?

    11 months out

Hi - I am reading your post with the biggest smile on my face. I love reading sucess stories. I had my surgery March 30th and weighed 375. I lost 25 pounds the first month after surgery I since lost another 30 pounds. I lost a total of 55 pounds and i feel like I am really on my way to a very healthy life. I too follow the "rules." I am sure "the lapband" is ultimately saving my life. Thanks you for sharing your expierence. I wish you the best of luck.

255 lbs to lose. Can it be done?

No the surgery did not hurt. After the surgery you are in a little discomfort (mostly gas pains) Yes, i had to go through about 10 - 12 tests - There is a lot of testing - But it is absolutely worth it. I had my surgery March 30th and I lost 55 lbs so far. I have a long way to go but I feel great.
  9. I was told by so many people the same thing.. It doesn't work... It's not the quick fix... etc.... I will tell you something that I think noone really knows until after they do the surgery and that is .... It is very very hard.... but.... So worth it...... I had my surgery March 30th and I lost 50.6 pounds so far - i have to loose about 90-100 more but I really try not to look at the road ahead of me because I will get depressed - I look at the how well I am doing ... and how amazing I am starting to feel and how when my son who is ONE turns two or three he will not know his mommy as being fat.... This surgery is saving my life and I am willing to bet it is saving or saved hundreds of peoples lives. Please understand that that as wonderful as having Lap Band surgery is you MUST work it right... I know people that that drink Milk shakes everyday because they go down real easy and people that eat ice cream all day long - Need I say they do NOT loose weight like they should - I am not saying you could NEVER have those things but my theory is "loose the weight first" by eating good healty food and then if you want an occasional ice cream - then it will be ok.. Anyway you get my point... I eat very little (enough to get me through the day) maybe 2 oz of protien / 1/4 cup of a carb and 1/2 cup veggies for lunch and dinner and an egg with a slice of toast and 1/2 cup fruit for breakfast... a lot of water during thr day and I am having great sucess - after my inital loss - I am loosing 2 pounds a week consistantly... If u need to talk I will be here... Best of luck to you...DO THE SURGERY

255 lbs to lose. Can it be done?

Hi - I was just banded on March 20th and I have about the same amount to loose - I started at 373 and I would like to get down to 160 - 165. I have lost 23 pounds since being banded so I am very hopeful that I can do this. I will tell you that this is the hardest thing I ever did but getting on the scale and loosing between one pound and 1 1/2 pounds a day makes it all worth it!!!! I absolutely beleive you can loose that much weight with the lapband surgery.. As long as you follow the rules 100% - I wish you the best of luck!
  13. Hello everyone- I hope you all are diing well. I was banded on March 20th but my doctor wanted me to do liquids for a week before my surgery - so I did! Then I was on liquids for a week after the surgery. As of March 28th I have been on grinded food (Oatmeal, chicken, turkey, carotts, potatoes) only 2 oz. per meal - 3 times a day but drinking a lot of water in between and my 2 vitimens a day. I start solid - non grinded foods today - still only 2 oz. per meal. My next doctors appointment is April 30th - My doctor wants me to start eating "regular" 5 days before I see him. I am hungry 75% of the day. I have a one year old boy who keeps me very busy - THANK GOD! or i would be hungary 100% of the day. This is by far the hardest thing I ever had to do. I quit smoking 6 years ago. I was in drug rehab 20 years ago and have conquered both... This is tough... However, I get my first fill on April 30th and I am hoping to feel some restriction. The wonderful news is that since March 13th (one week before I was banded) I lost 21 lbs.. I am on my way and could not be happier - I am hoping to be a huge sucess story in the lapband family! Good luck to everyone.
  14. Hi - I have to be honest I am not sure if I am getting enough protein or water - I have been on clear liquids for 5 days now - It is getting really hard - I am going to get through this but it is really tough.... I started on liquids the day before my surgerry (as per my doctor) My doctor gave me a schedule to follow it is: drinking 2 oz of liquid 6 times a day and in between I am drinking a little water but not much - (1 8 oz glass a day) Do you think I should be drinking more water? The protein that I am getting is from the Ensure - I drink 2 oz of ensure - 3 times a day, 2 times a day a protien powder I got from the GNC with 2 oz of skim milk and the onther time I have 2 oz of chicken broth - I still have pain in my shoulder - I am walking as much as I could - about 20- 30 min....
  15. I was banded on March 20th - I came home from the hospital yesterday - I am a little sore, a little tired and very emotional..... I have alot of trapped gas and I am still a little blotted. I am not sure if what I am feeling is actual hunger or me just not being used to not having any solid food for 4 days - I am on clear fluids until April 2nd.... I am having 2 oz. of liquids every 2-3 hours - and sipping very slow - I just keep saying to myself that this is all going to be worth it by next year!!! for all of us!!!!
