    My Gastric Sleeve Pre-OP Requirements

As much as I would have loved to have just made up my mind and then had the surgery the next week, I am grateful for this 6 month period. (No, I'm not crazy, lol!) I've had time to adjust both mentally and physically to what's about to happen to me. I have slowly weaned myself off of caffeine, bread, and am now working on sugar. That way when I start my two week pre-op diet, my body wont go into such a shock. I have a small business decorating wedding cakes etc, so I have to perfect frostings and other recipes now so that I wont have to be taste testing them after surgery. Through all of the tests that I went through I had a cancer scare, and that brought me further in my faith than I ever thought about going. So, actually, I am not complaining about the 6 month wait. I only have one more weigh in appointment with my PCP in 10 days and then see if I am approved. Right now, I can actually say that I am healthier both mentally and physically than I was 6 months ago!

    My Gastric Sleeve Pre-OP Requirements

I first saw Dr. P back in December and my insurance requires 6 months of doctor supervised diet. So July 18th will be my last of those. Hopefully I am looking at an early August surgery........ I've been for my cardiac tests, my EGD, nutrition and physical therapy meetings. Got all of that behind me. Feel like I'm turning the corner now!

  8. Sometimes when those doors close, the best thing we can do is not bang on them wondering why they've slammed shut! Walk on down the hallway to the next door. Focus on the opportunities instead of what's been left behind. (And I think you posted this EXACTLY where you need to post it!) Sent from my LG-V410 using the BariatricPal App

    Last meal

I had a friend (who is considering the sleeve) ask me how long it would be until he could have a biscuit. And I told him, "TIM! Biscuits are what got us here!" But in all honesty, I think a big Breakfast will be my last meal. Biscuits and gravy with bacon and eggs. My dr requires 2 weeks or a very strict diet pre-surgery. So, I will start planning this as soon as I get my surgery date!

  11. Hey all! I just got back from my 5th out of 6 insurance required doctor appointments before approval for my surgery. I have pretty much stayed the same on my weight, going back and forth within the same 4-5 lbs weight loss and gain. But this month I lost 8 lbs. Normally, I would be ecstatic about losing 8lbs, lol! But I am worried about my insurance turning me down for being able to lose 8 lbs in a month. My BMI is still above acceptable range (pretty high) and I do still have other factors like high blood pressure, etc. Should I try to gain that 8 lbs back, or am I still good? By the way, I have Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Alabama Insurance.
  12. I actually spoke with the insurance coordinator at my surgeon's office this afternoon and she said that as long as my BMI doesn't go below 35, I'm good! Yay! Thank you all for your input. Sent from my LG-V410 using the BariatricPal App

    What do you ride?

How cool to find this topic! My husband and I ride a Harley trike for now. With his bad knees and our combined weight being over 500 lbs, two wheels just wont work right now! But we'll be back on two wheels soon!

    I am so ready!

Hi! I chose the sleeve for the same reasons you did. I am (hopefully) only about 6 weeks out from surgery. And I am READY! Best of luck to you!

    Discouraging news

If the 1st Dr was your surgeon, then you have to see another Dr for the med supervised diet. That Dr should be faxing the info to the surgeon's office. Then the surgeon sends everything to the insurance company. At least that's what's happening in my case.

Super excited for you! I don't have any advice because I haven't been through it yet. My sister has though. Just take a deep breath and dive in! :-/

    June - July sleevers?

I saw my surgeon for the first time in December and have been doing the 6 month supervised diet with my regular Dr. I have 2 more supervised visits before I get my insurance approval. Hopefully there won't be any problems getting approved. My surgeon said they can schedule surgery 2 weeks after approval. So, I could be looking at an early August surgery day. Just in time for my birthday! :-) Sent from my LG-V410 using the BariatricPal App
