    3 days post op

I'm feeling the same. I got an abdominal binder at CVS. It helps some. The gas pain shooting up into my neck is the worst. I'm still just sipping. I don't think I'm getting enough fluids. Trying to sit up more and walk more. One thing that feels odd. When I take a sip of something I feel it go straight down and then I'll have a shot of pain off to center right side of my abdomen. It feels like my stomach in on the right now instead of the left side. Has anyone else felt this or is it just me?

    CALLING ALL JULY 2016 SLEEVERS

Had surgery on the 12th. Yes terrible gas pains. It has started to dissapate and the pain from incisions is taking over. For those who are a liitle further post-op, how long before you werent in pain?
  3. Had surgery Tuesday the 12th. Terrible shooting gas pains that day and part of the next. I've been walking around used some Gax-X. Its better but still coming out. Everytime I take sip of something, i feel and hear gas leaking out of my mouth. I say leaking because it isn't a burp or belch its just gas making its way up my esophagus. How long did it take you before this was over? Thanks.

Yes. I start my pre-op diet tomorrow. I have to eat high Protein, low carb, and no sugar. Basically, I'll be eating a Protein shake for Breakfast, and lean meat and veggies for both lunch and dinner. And the last 48 hrs before surgery, I will be on a clear liquid diet. Have you started yours yet? If so, how's it going? Sent from my SM-N910P using the BariatricPal App I start my clear liquid diet today, but I did do liquids yesterday (but thicker) I had Protein shakes all day. I wanted to make today a bit easier on myself so I didn't have any solid food yesterday. Today only broth, tea, Water, crystal light, diet popsicles.
  5. I agree Christinamo7. I've suffered as a result of decades of overweight. I've tried to diet and exercise the weight off but only got so far. Eventually, I destroyed my knees and now it is painful to walk. I cannot jump or even hop. Exercise is very difficult and I'm told I need to have both my knees replaced. My knee doctor told me that I am not a good candidate for knee replacement surgery and that I should see a bariatric surgeon and get the weight off before knee replacement. That started my investigation. I knew people who'd had bariatric surgery, so I knew it wasn't a walk in the park, but also knew that it worked. I second guessed myself for some time, but I've thought long and hard enough about this. I'm 51 and my knees are shot. My body is highly resistant to weight loss. I've done some very low calorie dieting, I think I've done almost every program you can think of. This is my best chance and I've missed too much life to continue going down the same road. I have to say that I won't have some of the same complaints I've seen. I don't have a problem not going out drinking or partying. I just want to replace my knees and become mobile again, especially for my family. I think it boils down to the main reasons you want to do it as to whether or not its the right time for you to make a real commitment to this new reality.

Also wanted to state that I think the liquids only diet might be standard for operations involving more than just the stomach (ie: areas lower in the digestive tract). And perhaps some doctors have used the liquid diet for sleevers just as a carryover from what has been done in the past. Just a guess.

So its interesting that most of the comments I've seen about the pre-op diet people on are liquids. I was NOT put on a liquid diet. I was put on a low carb diet. I'm to keep my carbs under 30 per day and was given a list of what I could eat (which includes lots of solid food). I was told to take milk of magnesia and an acid reducer for the 2 days before surgery and I'm to be on clear sugar-free liquids the day before surgery. Does anyone else have a pre-op diet resembling mine?

    Headed to the hospital....

You're about to have a nice nap. Here's hoping everything will go exactly to plan (I'm sure they will take good care of you). All the good stuff about having the excess weight off is now coming your way. I've decided to start planning my wardrobe to take my mind off the surgery.

    CALLING ALL JULY 2016 SLEEVERS

me too! Hospital staff and my surgeons office all announced that I must be excited. I think the reason I'm more nervous than excited is because I understand the challenges ahead of me now. Just hope all goes smoothly with surgery. July 11th! Very anxious!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Breathe deeply a few times. In through your nose and out through your mouth slowly. Just a few breaths can calm you to a point where you are no longer anxious.

Butterflies. Keep thinking them as butterflies. You are normal and on the right track if you're feeling the ---"butterflies".

LIght a candle and watch the flame-intently for a few moments. It will calm you.
